Sit tight nuggets! SciFi intends to frak with you.

Though we all know now that that the next season is the last for Battlestar Galactica – apparently the season may well be split over the course of not one but two calendar years (2008 and 2009).

This is what i would call adding insult to injury.

Ok so the show is ending – that’s both good and bad. True diehard fans will watch no matter what. But the casual fan isn’t going to bother. The current 10 month gap between the last season and the next is bad enough..but SciFi channel that FAN HATING BASTION of non-creativity is going to do it to us again.

But what can we do? Petition the network? Boycott them?

i DON’T know….i guess as long as SciFi Network’s parent NBC Universal is making money they don’t really care.

As I wrote on my blog, I am 100% with you on this. I am really considering to start an online petition but we need to get the word out to the masses.

Montgomery —

There is a letter writing campaign started on Scifi forums. Perhaps you can stop in there and help us fuel the fire…

Problem with a boycott is that it hurts our favorite show and eventually if we buy the DVD when it comes out, they get their money anyway.

What I hate is that the way they string us fans along. They ruined the whole Sci-Fi Friday night thing by splitting up SG-1, Atlantis, and BSG, then they cancel Stargate, now they are feeding us breadcrumbs by stringing Battlestar out over 2 years! It’s unfair!

It’s like two seasons on the cheap. If they plan to drag it out over two years, why not spend the extra money and make both full seasons? Do the cast and crew all have other commitments? Is the filming too ambitious to fit into a standard schedule? Did they give a reason? Frakkers.

I’m split on this (if proven true).

I can see how this is a bad thing, in that fans such as myself have to wait for ages to see the end of this thing (Sci-fi fans do seem to spend a lot of their lives waiting for things, don’t we? lol). And The Sci-fi channel does specialise in managing their shows very poorly, which it shouldn’t be allowed to get away with.

On the other hand look at Dr Who. What is it, 13 episodes a year? 12? And that doesn’t seem to have harmed the show at all. I know it’s a blow to you American viewers used to seasons of 22 episodes, but is it really so bad? Just call it seasons 4 and 5, why not? (he says, sounding very much like Dr Zoidberg).

Here endeth my tuppence.

I hope they don’t do that ’cause that would just bite. It annoys me greatly when they break up seasons like that in any show.

I am hoping that this something changes the minds of Sci-Fi execs. Now that season four is stinking things up it might be difficult to hold onto even faithful viewers with a split like this. I blogged about season 4 after becoming frustrated with it.
