WTF is up with Peter?
Did the weapon really – ‘weaponize’ HIM? Not really clear why he decided to go after the shapeshifters on his own without telling anyone.
Strange thing is that Peter is going bad, just as Olivia is starting to warm up to him – even after FauxLivia.
Ah well – another fine show..with more questions than answers at the end.

At the last minute they pulled the plug and pushed the show back – so NO NEW SMALLVILLE

A little later than usual — we finally got our Star Trek: Ships of the Line: 2011 Wall Calendar
We had never before seen the Enterprise XCV – the first Enterprise — not not NX-01..but a Vulcan inspired starship. There is a really awesome middle section panorama in the calendar as well which explains why the XCV failed…in the same middle section there is some awesome pics of the NX-01 retrofit, which makes it look a whole lot more like the NCC-1701.
The brilliant artist/renderer behind the XCV is Mark Rademaker and he explains in this blog post how he built this ship that none of us never knew — or saw before now.

That’s right – Stan Lee is likely not happy either.
Johnny Storm – aka The Human Torch dies in Fantastic Four #587.
Now considering that Fantastic Four has been coasting along for years – who buys that stuff now??? – this is like the spark that could reignite some interest in Stan Lee’s first family of Marvel.
Even more shocking is that the Fantastic Four is ending – as a comic book – after 41 years with issue #587
There are some people that think that the Fantastic Four should have ended in 1971 when Jack Kirby left (we’re among them) – but this series is the cornerstone of Marvel to see it go is…sad in a way…but it’s also long overdue.

No V TONIGHT!!
That’s right, the President’s State of the Unit has done what the Fifth Column (so far) hasn’t been able to do.
That’s right – Obama beat the V’s – or at least kept them off the air – for one night.
Next episode is set for Feb and it’s titled ‘Unholy Alliance’
After the radical faction of the Fifth Column murders three Peace Ambassadors, Erica goes on a mission to hunt down their leader, Eli Cohn.

Vortex (Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi, Book 6)
We’ve been tracking, reading and reviewing the Fate of the Jedi series since 2008, when Lucasfilm first announced the series. The first Fate of the Jedi book: Outcast – was ok, but not great. Book two – Omen – was awesome. Book 3 – Abyss – was weak. Book 4 – Backlash also weak.
Now book 5 – Allies – the book immediately preceding this one was interesting, but unsatisfying.
In contrast to those first five books, we have nothing but praise for Vortex. The writing is amazing and kept us turning page after page. The courtroom stuff with Tahiri which has been dragging on, was exceptional this time around.
the battle inside the Jedi Temple and the demise of Kenth Hamner …WOW…we didn’t see that one coming.
Luke battling Abeloth and the Sith Again? ok..we saw that coming but still cool.
Vestara killing Lord Tallon? no we didn’t see that.
But the best part is the fact that this book stuck to the tried and true Star Wars formula. We had multiple sub-plots that all come together in a big set of concurrent event. Hamner and the Jedi with the launch of the StealthX’s, the return of the Horn’s, Errant Venture’s attack on the Coruscant mirrors and Luke battling it out for his life.
WOW.
Author Troy Denning, knows what Star Wars fan want and he has delivered in spades with Conviction.

This episode of Fringe was like no other – the thread of time travel has never been so well integrated. Sure we’ve had cause and effect before in Fringe..remember the guy that just by dropping a pencil could kill someone?
So now we learn that Peter caught a firefly and the end result was that Rosco Jones son got run over. The boy travels forward 25 yrs and then goes back, calling his dad before he dies to let him know that he traveled forward…astounding.
But what about that final twist?
The observer shooting Peter? then somehow Peter is saved gets a headached, drink the bad milk, thereby saving Walter.
huh?
That said the observers did spell it out for us at the end “..he was willing to let his son die and when the time comes he will do it again.”

ok V is a decent show, but it’s starting to get strung out a bit too much.
The skinning of Malik could have been our first real glimpse of a live V – tail, teeth and all…
but instead we just see some green skin.
the continuing trips of Anna to see Diana are dumb – ok your daughter will betray you…what else have you got to say?
Tyler only has half the DNA he’s supposed too?
And now the only remaining question is will Ryan betray the 5th column or will he doublecross Anna?

So the V’s are out to destroy the human soul?
COME ON.
A little too cheesy for us. emotion maybe, but soul? and all that talk from Diana to Anna – that was just crap.
We still have hope for V – hope that this show can get better…but this was the worst episode yet.
Caprica Apotheosis – Series Finale WAS AWESOME January 11, 2011

Yes we had some issue with Caprica as a series, but the final five episodes of Caprica were FANTASTIC.
We just finally watched the final two episodes and they were easily the best of the whole frakking series.
Shear brilliance.
And the ending was a real ending which makes us think that the show was originally just supposed to be 18 episodes long..
IT was a total shock that Willy – the boy we thought for 16 episodes was the young Admiral — was in fact, not the Admiral.
What a twist.
And the whole killing that Guatraul thing – amazing.
Sarah Lacie as the holy mother of the monotheists – WOW.
But the best part of the whole show – and the series — was the transformation of the cylons and their apotheosis at atlas field. They saved humanity and became part of colonial life as a result.
And of course the ‘skin job’ version of Zoe …emerging from the same bath as the other skin job models of Battlestar Galactica.
no, not everything made sense…we still don’t know what happened to Tamra — and sister clarisse should have been put away…and we still think that Daniel Greystone himself was actually a Cylon too…but that will just have to remain a theory as Caprica is now done.
A fitting finale after 18 episodes and we can honestly say in retrospect, that the it was a fun ride. It ended at a good point and we got a real ending too.
SO SAY WE ALL!

We love Summer Glau – and hey we even tolerated her as a Terminator..
but in The Cape she’s the only decent bit of a really terrible show..and her bit isn’t even any good either.
What a total waste of time – easily the worst show we’ve seen all year so far.

The first half of the Star Wars The Old Republic comic book series from Dark Horse was kinda lame.
the second half is AWESOME.
Teneb Kel is an awesome Sith. He is cunning, he is ruthless and he know how to defeat those who are stronger than he is.
This final issue of the Blood of Empire story line brings Kel to the pinnacle of power — but only after he kills his friend — maggot and barely escapes the emperor’s first apprentice.
Astounding story, brilliant art combine for the best Old Republic comic book yet!

ha! it’s all about loading the Earth with Phosphorus so the V’s can mate with humans.
Best line:
“First they come to invade us, now they want to shag us!”
And now we now why Tyler is so special… he’s got phosphorus in him!!
awesome.
We’ve also known for months that the original V commander – Diana would be making a return …so that’s great to finally see it happen after the long layoff.

Star Trek: Typhon Pact #2: Seize the Fire
Seize the Fire benefits from the skilled hand of author Michael Martin who understands better than most how to craft true Star Trek tales.
From beginning to the end, this was one of the best Star Trek novels we’ve read all year with some twists, and a consistent sense of urgency and drama that made this book impossible to put down.
We’ve never really cared much for the Gorn, but this book will change that – we know have new insight into their cast system and their sense of honor and obligation to the ‘legal casters’.
The mystery of the Brama-Shiva artifact is also not yet done – and likely will re-emerge in another Titan tale, just like White-Blue – from the last Titan book – Star Trek Titan Synthesis – made a return in this book.
Not a whole lot of advancement in the Typhon Pact storyline though – at the end a Typhon Pact fleet is racing in … it’ll be interesting to see how this book ties into the great whole…
