Putting is supposed to be a sweet science but what geek could resist their very own Star Trek putter? (not me!)

StarTrek.com has a contest on now ending Nov 23rd – giving these beauties away!

For our Grand Prize, the Limited Edition putter features a special “NCC-1701” head with the serial number (only 1,701 will be produced) engraved on the putter face, True Temper Double Bend steel shaft, Winn NCC-1701 grip with gold accents, and a magnetized “Limited Edition” mallet headcover.

For the Ferengi out there – you could always use the Rules of Acquisition and just buy one …for a sweet low low down to earth price of only $129.99

Alright we’ve got the Mandies, Republic and dueling Jedi factions all in one room and issue where they’ve been since last issue.

Problem is the art in this book is so RIDICULOUSLY DREADFUL that Zane Carrick doesn’t look like he should and is drawn in yet another different way in this issue.

There is nothing else to say about this issue – if you can’t have a consistency or a style for the main character in a series – it’s just sad and makes the rest of this otherwise excellent issue a wasted effort.

Stargate Atlantis 4×5 Travellers Review October 29, 2007

Another great episode – reminded me alot though of when Daniel Jackson got captured by V’alla (the first time). Will the new *hottie* (Larrin) end up in Col. Sheppards arms? As a member of Stargate Atlantis? I sure hope so.

So now we’ve got yet another human race in Pegasus that is advanced and not yet totally destroyed by the Wraith…are they descendants of the ancients somehow? maybe. ARe they going to come back in a massive Atlantian alliance with the Setians, Jennai, Replicators and others to annihilate the Wraith?? only time will tell…

Ohhh and where was Col.Carter this whole episode????

Star Wars Omnibus : Tales Of The Jedi Volume 1 October 26, 2007

For years, I’ve struggled to collect a complete set of the early stories of the Jedi – I’ve got Golden Age of the Sith, Fall of the Sith, Freedon Naad Uprising…but was still missing issues in between.

Now Dark Horse has made it easy and put it all together in one massive ominbus – i just got it and it’s AWESOME.

There has never been such a compilation that captures all of the early Jedi Tales – now we’ve got it – and it’s a must have addition to any collector’s collection – and/or a great complete starter for someone that wants to jump into Star Wars comics feet first.

Five thousand years before Luke Skywalker’s successful assault on the Death Star, the Sith Lord Marka Ragnos ruled the galaxy. That is, until his death ignited a battle for ascension that would spell the end for his empire–and nearly the entire galaxy! It would be another thousand years before two young Jedi novices Ulic Qel-Droma and Nomi Sunrider would rise for the cause of justice, first in the case of a Jedi-killing Hutt, and then against a dark Jedi spirit threatening to engulf an entire planet!

The move from VHS to DVS for Star Wars was dramatic – finally we got to see Star WArs at a quality equal or better than the theatre.

But what about Star Wars in HD?

Check it out in 1080p with some side by side comparision – frankly i’m not impressed…i’ll wait to Lucas rolls it out on BluRay.

Finally! Michelle Ryan uses that awesome English accent!

beyond that..i’m not a fan of the love interest being CIA and the plot was borderline nonsense.

Nice to see Jaime making use of her bionic..and looks like they’ve rolled in some sound effects (minor) when she does.

It’s Time To Cancel Flash Gordon October 23, 2007

I’ve seen some chatter in blogosphere the last week or so, that apparently SciFi network is planning on improving Flash Gordon for the second half of the season.

Why bother?

The producers have so totally screwed up the concept that it’s beyond repair, the acting remains relatively weak and unbelievable and the plot – well there is none that any rational adult would find even moderatly interesting.

SciFi just plain and simple missed the mark totally with this show. It’s time to put it out of it misery and refocus on something else….like Firefly!!! can you imagine what Joss Whedon would have done?

That’s right frakkers! no need to wait till Nov 24.  Just be one of the lucky ones that gets in to see Battlestar Galactica Razor in a movie theatre and be the envy of all SciFi geekdom.

According to the Chicago Tribune: There will be free screenings of the film in movie theaters in eight cities on Nov. 12: Los Angeles, New York/New Jersey, San Francisco, Dallas, Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle and, yes, Chicago. The screenings will take place at multiple locations in each city, but all of the screenings will be on the evening of Nov. 12.

Admission is free, but those who want to see “Razor” at a movie theater must first register at the site battlestarevent.com. The site will not go live until Friday. Repeat: The site will not go live until Friday. Seat registrations will be given away first-come, first-serve.

Then again it looks like the definitive version will be the DVD which comes out in December. The movie version will Nov. 12 event will be around 84 minutes long. A 101-minute version of the film, which will be released on DVD on Dec. 4.\

Where Are You Frakker?

Bill ‘Husker’ Adama

Battlestar Galactica Razor Flashback #3 is easily the best of the bunch so far with 2 minutes of non-stop action.

Classic Vipers take on Classic Cylon Raiders – in a word – AWESOME.

The actor player the young Admiral Adama is also very very good – and I for one would certainly pay to see a whole series – or movie – just dealing with this first Cylon war.

If you haven’t seen the preview yet (cause you’re smart and can’t stand Flash Gordon – which is easily the worst show ever produced by SciFi) here’s ya go…enjoy!

doppelganger.jpgDoppelganger of course is a term for someone that has the same name as another person – but isn’t the same person…

Having Col. Sheppard ..or EVIL Sheppard as was the case at the doppelganger here was neat..since he’s usually goody two shoes….not as good as say a mirror universe Sheppard…but still solid fun..

Weak episode overall though as we still know nothing about the crystal entity? what did it want? why was it trying to get into their heads?? All the crystal was used for here was as a plot mechanism for EVIL sheppard and not as a way to expand the knowledge of the Pegasus Galaxy – and that just plain sucks.

and the Rebel Blockade Runner.

Bidding started at $149.99 for this..and i don’t expect it to go for less than $200 but hey someone might end up with a real deal here.

**UPDATE** Bidding closed at $332.90 for this!!

check out the auction yourself
– and hey if you win brag about it here.

Dark Times is easily one of the most depressing and truly Dark series in the Star War Universe ever published.
It’s just sad what happens..and there really are no happy comic book endings in this comic book.

This first story arc ends in the worst possible way – i was truly shocked and horrified by it – and couldn’t eat for nearly a day…

But i suppose that’s just good comic book writing – not sure that it’s for me as i’m not much for horror –

I’m not going to ‘spoil’ it here for anyone but let me just say this – it’s not a happy ending.

Chris Pine is now officially confirmed as Kirk in Star Trek XI.

I’m not sure that i’m happy about that…i really think it would have been a whole lot cooler if a name A LIST actor got the role. Pine doesn’t inspire a whole lot of confidence in me.

But hey filming starts in a few weeks and they had to lock it down – so good luck Chris Pine and I hope you do better than Scott Bakula.

Dammit Jim I’m a Dr! Not a second rate actor who’s only real claim to fame is Lord of the Rings!

Karl Urban will be Bones in Star Trek XI.

I truly admired DeForest Kelly as Bones – and i remember the day he died well – because i was truly sad.

5 years…..that’s it and then Michelle Ryan is toast….who’s to say that the show will last that long or not though…

Lifespan was easily the best episode yet – now we’ve got lots of overlapping plot elements which makes this a very deep and rich show from a story point of view…

That said – the new ‘Oscar’ is a MAJOR weak link in this show…he just sucks. The fact that we don’t have an entire army of evil fembots (yet) also is something i’d like to see..

overall though…good stuff. Jamie is really coming into her own…

Star Wars 30th Anniversary Collection Volume 7 : Biggs Darklighter (Review) October 17, 2007

Blasted Biggs..Where Are You?

In the original version of Star Wars ANH we never really know who Biggs is beyond his appearance in the Death Star Assault. In Special Edition – we get an extra 2 mins where Luke greets Biggs on Yavin 4 before launching. Beyond that Biggs is just a footnote in the main Star Wars movies….but thanks to the Expanded Universe and Dark Horse Comics..the full story of Biggs Darklighter is known.

We recently picked up the Star Wars 30th Anniversary Volume 7 Biggs Darklighter – and WOW what a great read with a solid story and top notch art.

I had never really though much about Biggs before – but after reading his full story I’ll never watch those fatefull last few minutes of his life in the Death Star trench the same way again.

Biggs Darklighter lived and breathed, taught Luke how to fly – joined the Rebel Alliance and helped them to get X-Wing Fighters (among other things).

This special 30th anniversary hardcover story is a MUST HAVE for Star Wars fans and is easily one of the best volumes yet in this incredible graphic novel collection series.
