So Vector finally hits Star Wars Legacy…but it really seems like a stretch to me..so Celeste Morne just floats in space for over a hundred years…waiting??
And Celeste hasn’t aged a day?
I dunno..it’s a really really weak link from the last Vector issue in Rebellion.
But the weak link aside — this is what Celeste was born to do…an ancient Jedi with an ancient Sith to team up against Darth Krayt and destroy the Sith..
Frankly Vector has been less than spectacular overall..but Legacy of course is awesome which no doubt will rub off on Vector..but make no mistake about it..it’s not Vector that will make Legacy better but Legacy which will make Vector better.
If Dark Horse is ever to attemp such a multi-timeline story again i hope they just do a time travel – force flow walking thing. The linear timeline here just sucks.

Interesting episode – we get our first real insight into Cameron (Summer Glau- who had a real life before as a human called Allison Young. Allison also knew John Conner which makes the “I love you” comment to John earlier this season even more interesting.
Why Cameron had this flashback episode – who knows but makes for some great backstory. Makes sense that Skynet would base its infiltrators on real humans.
Now what about Shirley Manson character – a T1000 – having a daughter! What’s up with that? Is she also a machine?
The best part of this episode? NOT MUCH WHINING FROM JOHN CONNOR!! He’s such a wimp!

Always great to see Dr. Daniel Jackson – and Todd the Wraith is an awesome character too…big question here is
Who those armored dudes? Are the descendants of Janus? Ancients? Other Pegasus Galaxy sentients??
Does the Atano device (the field that destroys Wraiths hyperdrives) destroy all stargates throughout Pegasus too?
Lot of questions for sure. No doubt Col.Sheppard survives the blast in the gate room that’s easy..the other questions not so much.
Let’s make a few guesses here – the armored dudes are in facts directly connected to the Ancient Atlanteans somehow (maybe robot shell for their consciousness?) and let’s also assume that any gate that was activated during the time the device was activated was destroyed (which would mean many but not all gates in Pegasus are now gone).
It will be Todd (not Sheppard) and Ronon that will save Jackson and McKay, making for yet another interesting twist..
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (the graphic novel) REVIEW September 25, 2008

I bought the Dark Horse graphic novel version of Star Wars the Force Unleashed the week before the game came out, i started to read it before playing the game and then stopped.
What ended up happening is we wanted to see how the game compared to the graphic novel – so we as we are playing the game we’re reading the graphic novel – sort of like a recap.
The graphic novel IS NOT a direct correlation to the game play (at least not the Wii version). Bascially it’s all told from a flashback point of view by Proxy and Juno who are explaining the origins of the Rebellion to Senator Organa.
Also the ‘Secret Apprentice’ is referred to as ‘Starkiller’ the whole time too.
The story does not have all the same back and forth as the game – in particular it is completely lacking in the (multiple) trip back to Coruscant to see the Jedi Temple (fight Darth Phobos and others).
The syncronisity with the video game aside – this is one great graphic novel. It’s such a great story that tucks so neatly into the existing star wars canon.
Just like Palpatine seeded the Seperatists that led to the Clone Wars so to did he seed the Rebellion (though not with the same results he had hoped). It makes great sense.
If you’re playing the game – you will enjoy the graphic novel. If you’re not playing the game – WHAT THE FRAK IS WRONG WITH YOU?? – but you will LOVE THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL!!
John Hodgeman is a PC Cylon Doctor September 24, 2008

John Hodgeman – you know the dude who does PC on the Apple commercial (and former staffer on John Stewart’s Daily Show) is coming to Battlestar Galactica.
Apparently he’s playing a doctor in an upcoming episode of Galactica. In an interview with Wired Hodgeman says:
Well, I always had this desire to celebrate and somehow be a part of things that I thought were really great. When I wrote about Battlestar Galactica for The New York Times Magazine in 2005, I was mainly geeking out about the fact that I was standing on the set, you know? So it was very unnerving and surreal to go from being the guy who wrote about Galactica to making a cameo appearance as a doctor in an upcoming episode.
Uh huh. Blue screen of death for the Cylons then – those toasters are scrap metal now.

A ‘ghost’ network for transmitting information, and more conspiracies into the pattern.
Neat episode and great twist at the end – not sure who is the bad guy and who isn’t are we?
Now the piano playing part – that’s a little cheesy – but hey a minor thing in a show that seems to be picking up the pace and maturing nicely into a must see TV show.

Or should we call this Sith spawn demon – Darth Hazen?
What an awesome storyline and one of the best pieces of cover art that I’ve seen in recent years from Dark Horse – simply amazing.
But back to the story – so it’s been this dude Hazen all along that has been pushing the direction for the Covenant?
Where did that come from? For the last two years we’ve been following this storyline and BAAAAAAAAAM now this.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s a great twist and this a great issue. We know have the final resolution at hand of this whole series – i wonder what will be left when this arc is done…

This show continues to get worse week after week. The acting is deplorably bad and the pacing is all wrong.
John Conner is a total wimp. The Cameron character – in this episode was week. Charlie (who looses his wife in this episode)..COME ON..i’ve seen better acting from cardboard.
And what!!! Terminators can’t swim? really?

Another great Stargate Atlantis episode – the runner concept has always been a great one in Atlantis and now we see another Runner – hazzah!
The fact that he has a ‘heart’ and is trying to save a little girl is also great but the uber plot – the content of McKay and Ronen for Dr. Keller that’s off the charts.
We know from the version of the future that Shepard saw that Keller ends up with McKay but still we also know that Ronen has a thing for Keller – not usually the kind of social interplay that we’re loooking for in good SciFi but it sure is entertaining isn’t it?

The first of the new Dark Horse comics tie-ins for the new Star Wars Clone Wars animated series is out and it looks pretty darn good.
The cover art is done the director of the Clone Wars animated movie – and the plot is by a writer for the regular series.
The first issue deals with Ashoka’s people and its a great start..reasonable action, decent pacing and solid artwork all complement this issue.
NO It’s not Star Wars Legacy quality – but it is solid Star Wars and at least as good as the actual animated series itself.

Michael Reaves is among the best Star Wars Expanded Universe authors working today and Coruscant Nights II: Street of Shadows is among his best. This book is a new adventures – that continues the same character and timeline as the first Coruscant Nights.
Big difference this time around is Jax is trying to solve a murder – as is Captain Typho (remember him from Episodes I, II and III?) – Aurra Sing the most deadly bounty hunter of them all takes a swing a Jax – and we’ve got a sexpot Zeltron in the mix too.
It’s a solid book that moves along well with all plotline converging at the end in typical Star Wars fashion. The only weak link might be the Typho storyline…somehow he figures out that Darth Sidious went to Mustafar and then he assumes that Vader was there too so he needs to go after Vader (which is so ridiculous a stretch..)
The sub-plot with Laranth wanting more from Jax was also kinda weak, though the plot dialoge with Dejah The Zeltron was all really solid.
All in all a fun and at times exciting jaunt through the Coruscant underground with a Jedi that has no lightsaber…
The next (and final book – Patterns of Force (Star Wars: Coruscant Nights III)) in the series should be interesting ..Vader is on the cover and the only question is whether or not Jax survives..

Long Live T’eyla Queen of the Wraith!!!
What a great episode from start to finish. First the proposal to wean the Wraith off human feeding is an awesome idea..though similiar to how in SG-1 they weaned the Jaffah off the symbiots..it just makes sense.
The ‘double cross’ making T’eyla Queen of the whole Wraith Alliance though was just a really neat an unexpected twist that just made us go – WOW.
But a question – how did Todd get the respect of his own hive without a Queen ? Sure we know he said he hid the issue from others hives..but on his own ship?
with 12 episodes to go till the series ends – we’re going to make a prediction. T’eyla will re-appear as Queen of the Wraith – the Atlantis plan to get the Wraith onto regular food will work and we’ll end up with three factions – human feeding wraith, food feeding wriath and michael’s hybrids.

Spaceballs the animated series is finally nearing its official broadcast premier on September 21st…but you don’t really have to wait that long …
At least two episodes are currently on YouTube – episode one is called Fishfinger. The second episode is called ‘Watch Your..”
Spaceballs the movie was a great Farce.. and one of our favs.
The animated series – at least what we’ve seen so far…isn’t as good but it’s still pretty darn funny.

Well friends the McDonalds Star Wars Clone Wars Happy Meal toy promotion is now over …but we’ve still got a few posts that we’re planning about them..
One thing we didn’t get the chance to do was to go to McDonalds in full Star Wars costume – but one smart dude dude – he went drive-thru as Vader.
Surprisingly the McDonald’s staff at the cash and pickup window didn’t say anything and just acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary…

The second issue of Galaxy Quest from IDW is out and unfortunately it’s not as good as the first one —
This whole issue is about the back story – how we got to the point our heroes were at in the first issue..
To be fair it’s good solid stuff that needs to be told – like what happened immediately after the Protector crashed into the fan convention? How did the show get picked up again?
Still we’re always looking for an advancing plot and that’s likely what the next 2 issues should be all about…we have yet to see the new bad guys but we do know that our heroes will…
NEVER SURRENDER.

AMC has named ShowMeSciFi as its SciFi site of the Week for this week!
apparently they like what they see..
We actually did an interview with them too which Carolyn over at AMC did a great on writing up. She asked a few basic questions and a few more advanced ones for a nice balance and somehow she got us to tell her about the back story about the history of showmescifi.com
Ohh and don’t worry we bashed Flash Gordon too. Check out the story for yourself!
Fringe : What is the pattern? September 9, 2008

Just watched the premiere of J.J Abrams Fringe and I’m reasonably impressed. The core group of characters are excellent and this is not just an X-Files remake.
Though Fringe does borrow from other popular SciFi doesn’t it?
Take for example the ‘vulcan mind meld’ in a vat of liquid that looked surprisingly like the hybrid Cylon in Battlestar Galactica.
Having the “john’ boyfriend character be the bad guy – was an awesome twist that I never saw coming. If Fringe can keep up that kind of dynamic plot week in and week out we’re in for a treat.
The big mystery for Fringe – clearly will be – What is the pattern?
Is it an alien lifeform? Is it a cabal? A global conspiracy?
Whatever it is I’m sure that Abrams will stretch this out for the life of the show and we’ll find out little bits as it goes on.
Just a word about the location for Fringe – clearly this show was shot in Toronto – with the Royal Ontario Museum as one key set as was the University of Toronto (with the final scene clearly in front of University College). Just a neat thing to point out…

Just finishing watching the season two premiere of Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles and we’ve got some mixed feelings. The show tried to be all high flying action packed but it fails on many levels that ultimately will make it inaccessible to the consumer masses that Fox is targeting this show at.
The beginning intro with the ‘sampson and deliliah’ soundtrack in the background was too long on the song and too sharp on the scene cutoffs. If you had never seen Sarah Connor Chronicles before you would completely lost. Of course we’re fans here..so there was a little knowledge we had ..most of it from the season one finale from back in March.
Cameron going bad – ok that was neat…but John Connor saving her in the end and letting her live was lame. Magically she repairs the damage? where was the internal conflict?
And the Cromartie thing? COME ON. The FBI would have known that that body they found had been dead for some time and was not killed in the recent action.
Now the only redeaming scene in the whole show was the final scene where our new Terminator (Shirley Manson) reveals herself as a T1000 model that was just about to be urinated on…that was funny.

This was a fun scaaaaaaaaaaaaary episode…running through the mists fighting blind demons that emit their own fog.
Really dark – literally..i could hardly see what was going on..which is how it should be. Brilliantly produced and shot from a cinematographic point of view.
Beyond that….we got to see the first all Girl Atlantis away team and no doubt we’ll see more of them in the future…It sucks that Dr. Beckett is gone (again) but we know he’ll just keep coming back and back and back.
And hey no Teyla or Ronon in this episode at all!

Not far now friends….
More than 30 years after it should have first aired Star Trek Phase 2: Blood and Fire is almost…almost ready for airing..on the web at least.
Blood and Fire is in our opinion the best of the best for Star Trek Phase II. It’s all action and battle against the mortal enemy of the classic crew..the Klingons..
Pursued and damaged by repeated Klingon attacks, the crew of the Enterprise must respond to the distress call from a Federation research ship. In a matter of hours the ship and crew will be consumed by a nearby star and the crew of the Enterprise will be consumed by an mysterious horror that threatens both ships as the Klingons watch and wait.
Yes this is a fan product from the Star Trek New Voyages people but look at the footage from the trailer…it looks fraking amazIng.
