Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw Yoda?
StarWars.com has a little tutorial up on their site now – for the clone wars animated version of yoda.
It looks easy enough and with a steady hand you should be able to do it (we could). But it’s only one pose…maybe next time they’ll add him in with a lightsaber.
Want to try it yourself? Check it out.

Knights of the Old Republic #20 Zayne Carrick Confronts Lucien October 1, 2007

The Republic, Mandalorians, Zayne Carrick and Lucien all come face to face in this issue (the situation was setup in issue #19)
Finally after 20 issues Master Lucien is in the same room as Zayne who he has been hunting the whole time ..and what does Lucien do?
Whack him with his lightsaber of course.
And finally 7 issues after he first gets his fancy cortosis arm things (which he got in issue # 13 ) Zayne uses them for what they were intended. Lucien strikes and Zayne stops him with his forearms…AWESOME
What is Jarael’s secret? I don’t know but I’m curious – and that’s a good thing. KOTOR has emerged from the depths and is now a legitimately good and consistent series.

Though Dark Horse just officially announced Star Wars Vector in a press release this week – it looks like Star Wars Legacy author John Ostrander has already made his thoughts known about the cross-overl.
Apparently Ostrander has pledged that there will be no flow walking!! (WHEW!)
no word on how the characters will (or won’t) travel between time periods or how the periods will actually be connected.
Also according to Ostrander the idea is to attract more readers, even though Star Wars is selling well.
Are we desperate for new readers? No. LEGACY, for example, is selling well. Would we like MORE readers? You bet. Everyone publishing comics would. You SW fans are swell; I love you guys — but if we’re going to attract new readers, we need to go where those readers are and say “Hi”. Non-SW readers; we want them to find out that these are just good comics PERIOD. How do we do that? Best way would be to tell one heck of a good story. We believe we have one.
VECTOR will provide a good jumping on point for new readers in all the books. Are we forgetting the readers that came to the dance with us? Not at all. Can we make it work? Oh yeah. Do I think you’ll like it? Most of you — yeah.
Count ShowMeSciFi.com in as a FAN for sure. With Ostrander at the helm we have nothing to fear. I suspect we’ll be looking at some ancient Sith or Jedi item or event as the cornerstone that carries through all the titles – sort of like rift in Star Trek All Good Things Must Come To An End – wouldn’t that be awesome?

Dark Horse Comics has announced a massive year long event that will encompass all their Star Wars titles in one MASSIVE storyline.
Star Wars Vector begins in January 2008 with the Knights of the Old Republic title, and will include all four Dark Horse Star Wars titles throughout the year, introducing new characters and tying the entire line together.
When a terrible vision reaching more than 4,000 years into the future alerts the secret Jedi Covenant to the importance of Taris, they activate an operative already on this planet overrun by Mandalorians. There, in the deadly Undercity, a monstrous, ancient threat is unleashed that plunges Zayne Carrick, the Padawan accused of killing his fellow students, into an adventure which will eventually span four thousand years and involve Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, and the principles of the Legacy series!
“After our relaunch in 2006 and the thirtieth anniversary this year, we were looking for something special to kick-off 2008,” said editor Randy Stradley in a statement. “At first, a line-wide Star Wars crossover seemed like it might be beyond our reach, but after nearly a year’s worth of back-and-forth discussions among our writers and artists, we came up with something really solid. Not only is it a big story that can span all of the eras we’re dealing with, but the events which take place within each era will be important to that era.”
The “Vector” storyline begins in Knights of the Old Republic #25, coming in January of 2008.
Star Wars Legacy of the Force Inferno – Review September 24, 2007

I’ve finally finished Star Wars Legacy of the Force Book 6 Inferno – and I’m not angry or even disappointed. IN fact I think that Inferno is one of the better books in this whole series. Inferno follows follows Sacrifice, Exile, Betrayal
, Bloodlines and Tempest.
Star Wars Legacy of the Force Inferno is a pleasant reminder why I enjoy Star Wars books (especially Legacy of the Force) so very much. The last book Sacrifice, was a disaster in more ways than one. The worst offense (beyond killing Mara – oh and be sure to add your name to the Bring Back Mara Petition) was the trite, mundane and inspired writing that was offensively bad. Simply put Karen Travis shouldn’t be writing Star Wars.
Now Inferno by Troy Denning is another story altogether and a very good one at that. The prose is crisp, the descriptions are tight as is the plot. Without getting into details (last warning ahead of a spoiler alert) there were enough twists and turns that made sense in this one to really make it a legitimate ‘page turner.’
Now onto the deeper discussion.
*LAST CHANCE TO TURN BACK IF YOU’RE AFRAID OF SPOILERS**
*
*
*
After the death of Mara in Sacrifice, I had expected Inferno to be mostly about Mara and tracking her killer. Luckily it wasn’t. Instead the civil war that is the whole premise for Legacy of the Force expands in marvelously new intricate ways.
The turbolaser bombardment of the Wookie homeworld was a total shocker and a brilliant plot twist as was Tenel Ka’s ultimate decision to open fire on Jacen.
I didn’t expect Ben to actually kill Cal Omas but , wow…another solid twist.
The discovery of MANY Sith on Korriban is a FANTASTIC revelation – these are likely the Sith from which Darth Krayt (also known as A’Sharad Hett) comes from.
And of course adding to the great complexity of this series, the Jedi abandoning the Alliance – or as Luke puts it – there is no Alliance with Jacen.
ooooooh and last but definitely not least – the faked death of Luke Skywalker himself. The author did a masterful job of painting that picture – of Luke’s death and though i didn’t want too..i believed it (for a few pages at least) just as Jacen did.
As if there wasn’t enough complexity in this Galactic Civil War – there is now even more and that makes for some great story telling.
As opposed to the New Jedi Order – Legacy of the Force is taking twists that are not trite, they’re actually really well conceived. It’s a shame that Karen Travis is such a poor writer…but Troy Denning really is a star.

wow.
As a fan of the Family Guy and Star Wars it was just AWESOME to see Star Wars done in the Family Guy animation style (officially known as Blue Harvest). Lots of great site gags and rye humor and unfortunately a lot of duds too…
On the plus side:
Jumping to hyperspace outsite of Tatooine when Han (Peter) says Hyperspace always looks so freaky and we get the regular lightspeed jump and then DR WHO!! complete with Who soundtrack and the ultimate Doctor Tom Baker.
Also really great when they get to detention block AA23 and Han takes the mike and says…”slight weapons malfunction..we’re all fine here how are you?” and then we get a whole converstation.
Luke entering the princesses cell and her saying .” who are you aren’t a little fat for a stormtrooper.” And luke saying ..”..you stuckup Bitch!”
Han (Peter) in the shooting pod humming along the John Williams music was also classic..
AND to top it all off the end where they take shots at the Robot Chicken version of Star Wars.
So yes this was a Family Guy show for the ages..but no not the best Star Wars parody ever, Stuey as Vader was VERY VERY weak which was a tremendous dis-appointment and all in all there have been other...funnier standalone Star Wars parody moments in Family Guy

Star Wars The Force Unleashed is the next BIG game from LucasArts (and its coming for the Wii too).
In a recent production video (linked below), LucasArt big wigs give some color on the characters in the game.
The big five characters:
The secret apprentice that’s the character you play in the game
Juno Eclipse – she’s the love interest and is an imperial pilot that ferries the appretice around the galaxy
General Koda – a hardboiled Jedi Master
Proxy – the droid sidekick
Darth Vader
In the video, the game’s production lead describes the Secret Apprentice as a Dark Luke Skywalker – what Luke would have been like had he joined Vader.

I remember very well the day i saw Star Wars Legacy issue #0 on the stand.
It was a great day.
That first issue #0 introduced me to a new wildly exciting universe of Star Wars. A universe where the Sith outnumber the Jedi, Jedi serve an Emperor in Exile, A Sith rules on Coruscant and the last Skywalker is a death stick stoking bounty hunter. AMAZING.
Alot has happened in the Star Wars Legacy universe in the last 18 months and Dark Horse has decided to update issue #0 which was an overview handbook of the people, places and ships in the series.
While the original issue #0 was only $0.25, TFAW has the 0 1/2 issue listed on pre-order at $2.39 (which is still a deal).
A year-and-a-half ago, we introduced you to Legacy-the future of Star Wars. The series’ original issue #0 has long been sold-out, and the information contained therein unavailable . . . until now. This greatly expanded and updated edition contains all of the information new readers need and that longtime readers are craving.
Get the lowdown on all your favorite characters, details on the ships and vehicles they pilot, and the latest on who’s related to who! This is a must-have handbook for the future of the Star Wars glaxy!
* Completely reconfigured from the original edition, with lots of new entries and information!
I can hardly wait! Though we all have too – Star Wars Legacy #0 1/2 doesn’t officially come out until December 19, 2007

Star Wars Rebellion issue #10 is a solid ending to a really neat story line. Vader finally catches up to Wyl Tarson and well Tarson makes an interesting decision.
It’s not one that I would have expected – and the way that the art portrayed the action was just great.
Not only was it a great storyline but of course as great stories do – it has left alot of open questions – is Raze dead? Is Tarson?? and what about the Hub ? Has it been compromised?
The Ahakista Gambit story arc really heated up in issue #9, while of course issue #8 with the great Vader cover was impressive, most impressive – as well.
As i’ve said before in the previous reviews in this arc – yes this is pulp – but its engaging and a fun read.
Only problem now though is that Dark Horse has put the title on hiatus until December – so it’ll months before we see anything new in this line.
Star Wars Strikes Back on TV (guide) September 20, 2007

We’ve known for some time that George Lucas is planning two new Star Wars shows for TV.
In an interview with TV Guide Lucas reveals some details that were previously unknown. The animated show takes place between Episode II Attack of the Clones and Episode III Revenge of the Sith.
“It’s a lot of battle stuff, and it’s obviously the Clone Wars, so it’s a war picture. So it’s kind of a PG-13 animated TV series, which is something that has never been done before and obviously doesn’t fit in any of the conventional slots that these things fall into. In that, it’s very different, and I think it’s very exciting. It’s got a very, very sophisticated look to it. It’s very much like the features. We’re still trying to figure out how to put it on the air.”
The plan according to Lucas is to do 100 episodes of the show and according to his comments in the interview they’ve already done …..40 OF THEM! The series is expected to begin airing in the fall of 2008.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed Coming to the Nintendo Wii!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! September 20, 2007

We’ve been waiting for this for a long time. IN fact almost since the day the Wii launched fans have been begging for the ultimate Star Wars experience on the Wii.
We now know when it’s coming: Spring 2008.
That’s when The Force Unleashed hits the Wii with an exclusive dual mode option that will let you wield your Wiimote the way it was intended – as a lightsaber!!!!
“The Wii is a great platform for The Force Unleashed, because the console’s motion-oriented controllers really bring the game to life,” said Jim Ward, President of LucasArts in a statement. “We’ve worked hard to make the Wii version of the game unique in order to truly let you unleash the Force.”
The Wii version, in development by Krome Studios, will also add an exclusive duel mode in which players can compete head-to-head with their friends to determine the ultimate Jedi Master.
If you didn’t have a reason for owning a Wii before – now you do.

Wind Power has been hailed as the ecological saviour for the planet…now while many may think it’s the Wind that actually powers the wind turbines, we here at ShowMeSciFi.com know better.
On a recent trip through Copenhagen International Airport (CPH) we came across a wind power display from turbine vendor Vestas.
There was something a bit odd about it though and on a closer examination it become more obvious.
Check out the pic below of the (lego) worker in the model that runs the Turbine..
That’s right! Obi-wan Kenobi and The Force!
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic #19 – now it finally starts to come together September 10, 2007

After a year and a half of suffering with this title, it’s finally coming together. From a plot point of view Dark Horse’s Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic issue #19 is easily the best issue this year pulling together all the major characters of the series.
We’ve got Mandalaorians
We’ve got the Republic Fleet
We’ve got Jedi (good and bad)
We’ve got the Arcanians (offshoots and purebloods)
Zayne Carrick is coming face to face (or back to back) with his Jedi tormentor
And its’ all coming together..the plot lines and the characters.
The only thing missing is the Sith – then again – Lord Adasca, head of the massive corporation Adascorp – might well be a Sith considering the way he’s manipulated the universe.
The weak link in this issue is the art. It is painfully pathetic at points and very amateurish. As I’ve complained before Zayne Carrick our main ‘hero’ in this series gets yet another treatment – so he look different again. If you compare how Zayne is drawn across say 5 issues you’ll see what looks like 5 different characters.
Still KOTOR #19 is a solid issue continuing from the solid issue #18. It’s a good trend and we can only hope that Dark Horse’s editors wizen up and put some real artists to work on this book.

There have been alot of great Family Guy Star Wars ‘spoof’ moments over the course of this great Fox show.
The upcoming season premiere looks like it could top them all with a full hour long Star Wars inspired spoof.
After the Griffin’s lose power, Peter entertains the family with the greatest story ever told…the story of Star Wars! After Princess Leia (Lois) comes under siege by Darth Vader (Stewie) and his evil Storm Troopers, C-3PO (Quagmire) and R2-D2 (Cleveland) escape to find the only person who can help the Rebel Alliance. On their quest thorough the desert planet of Tatooine, C-3PO and R-2D2 find extra help in Obi-Wan Kenobi (Herbert), Luke Skywalker (Chris), Han Solo (Peter) and Chewbacca (Brian) and head back to battle the Death Star in an epic intergalactic fight to the death in the “Blue Harvest” episode of FAMILY GUY on Sunday, Sept. 23 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT.)
Here’s the preview that aired some time ago (thnx to jedi insider)

I recently found myself in Sweden (south Sweden’s Malmo to be exact) and of course had to get my SciFi fix.
This store – Galaxy Galleri Trend was one of the only things i found..the Star Wars name on the sign is what caught my eye.
Basically alot of Power of The Force ships, tonnes of figures – and ridiculously overpriced stuff and very unfriendly staff.
It’s a small store and I probably would have bought something (just because) but hey when you’re the only person in the store and the store owner won’t even look at you…well…what ya gonna do. Also their collection of Star Wars comics ends around 2002 so no Legacy!

Holy Jawa do these books come out fast! Inferno is officially available today (though i don’t have a copy in my hands just yet).
As opposed to Sacrifice which we all knew would be the story in which Jacen Solo takes his Sith name – Inferno has no such penultimate highlight…though there is alot of ground to cover and it promises to be a riveting tale spun by Troy Denning
On a personal level I’m really going to take my time reading this one enjoying every page of what has become one of the best (if not THE BEST) Star Wars Expanded Universe book series ever.

30 years after Star Wars propelled us to that place far far away..an actual piece of the Star Wars legacy will be headed into Space.
Apparently the original prop of Luke Skywalker’s lightsaber from the first Star Wars movie will be sent into space aboard the space shuttle Discovery in October.
What i’d like to know – officially or otherwise – is if astro or cosmonauts have ever watched Star Wars on a Shuttle/Soyuz/Mir/Space Station mission. Sure these guys work very full days..but hey it’s not that improbable is it?
And what of the lightsaber? will it just stay in a locker on the shuttle the whole time?
