Another fun episode…but doesn’t Clark know not to leave Lois by the side of the road?
WTF dude?
And what was the deal with the Children of the Corn anyways…did the blue kryptonite give them strength? And how did it give Clark back his power when he was buried in it?
Oh and congrats to Clark on getting Lois-Lucky.
the pep talk on the world needing a hero was kinda neat too.
TRON: LEGACY – Quorra Saves Sam : Tron Night Footage October 29, 2010

One of the new clips that Disney showed us last night at Tron Night was one where Quorra meets Sam and gets him off the grid.
What’s interesting is that this is a non-lightcycle vehicle and that they can actually go off the grid…and oh yeah they’re headed to see Sam’s dad..
Tron Night Review – 20 mins of footage a mix of plot and action. Welcome to the grid program – End of line. October 28, 2010

We just got back from the local Tron Night event – we were the first ones at the theater …when the lights finally went out the theater was only half full.
The first scene we saw was Sam Flynn in his garage home with the same clip that is in the film’s trailer (‘i got a page from the arcade”)
the second scene was Sam going to the arcade – with some great 80’s tunes blaring the background…made us think though…if the phone had been disconnected for 20 yrs, how come the power wasn’t cut off?
the third scene we saw was sam getting picked up on the grid -with another program going AWOL and jumping…the grid looks awesome the 3D was slick.
the fourth scene was Sam getting ‘suited up’ the chicks have some kind of laser cutting fingers…neat.
the fifth scene gave us sam and the return of Tron Deadly Disks — MAN WAS THIS AWESOME..slick and fast paced..
then we had an ok scene with the light racers as Sam is rushed off the grid to find his dad. Meeting up with his dad was another scene, a bit mellow and lame, but hey part of the plot.
finally we got what looked like the tron music video montage…
Overall some new footage we’ve never seen anywhere else, some awesome 3D visuals and fantastic deadly disk action.
The schwag was a little basic, we got a poster – nice but that was it.
Caprica CANCELLED – Blood and Chrome a GO!! October 28, 2010

Finally the frakking nightmare is over and SyFy has put Caprica out of its misery.
“We appreciate all the support the fans have shown for ‘Caprica’ and are very proud of the producers, cast, writers and the rest of the amazing team that has been committed to this fine series,” said Mark Stern, executive vice president of original programming at SyFy, in a statement. “Unfortunately, despite its obvious quality, ‘Caprica’ has not been able to build the audience necessary to justify a second season.”
Caprica had a great premise and a fine cast.
The problem was the fact that the story was too frakking slow and even after the 1.5 season re-started it didn’t get better. Each episode was more boring and tedious than the next.
Yes WE WANT TO KNOW how the Cylons were created and make war on the colonies.
YES we want to know what happens…but that now doesn’t seem likely to happen — on TV at least.
If we could get a book or comic book of caprica or heck even a made for TV move – The First Cylon War – we’d be happy.
Yes Caprica deserved to be canceled, but it does leave those of us that did invest our time in the show with a really empty feeling – in terms of plot direction.
Sure there were some basic connections to Battlestar Galactica, but just like Starbuck being an Angel – Caprica just didn’t make sense.
On a positive note – we will get some BSG action – Blood and Chrome another BSG prequel has been greenlighted by SyFy.
Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, a sentient robotic race, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a brash rookie viper pilot enters the fray. Ensign William Adama, barely in his 20’s and a recent Academy graduate, finds himself assigned to the newest battlestar in the Colonial fleet… the Galactica. The talented but hot-headed risk-taker soon finds himself leading a dangerous top secret mission that, if successful, will turn the tide of the decade long war in favor of the desperate fleet.
Star Wars The Old Republic : Fatal Alliance – WTF is this crap? October 26, 2010

We’re really looking forward to the upcoming Star Wars The Old Republic MMOG.
The early trailers have all been awesome –
So we picked up the first Old Republic book – Fatal Alliance – with likely unrealistic expectations.
This book has some good characters and is well written – but the story is lame and just doesn’t make sense in many areas.
The ‘Fatal Alliance’ is a an alliance of Jedi and Sith against a mutual third party enemy. What’s unclear is how both Jedi and Sith decided to act together..that’s the core of much of the book and it just didn’t make sense to us.
The whole Hex culture on Sebaddon didn’t make sense either and neither did the final resolution.
Though the conclusion was unsatisfying to us — the path to the final chapters was fun to read – a jaunt through Coruscant to Hutta to above the galaxy. Eldon Ax is one awesome Sith witch and we also like the character of Jet the bounty hunter type. The double agent Envoy Vii was also kinda neat too.
So yes, this book does have some redeeming qualities…but it just left us with a bad taste in our mouth.

Things We Lock Away
was yet another crappy episode – but a little better than the last one.
Sure Daniel gets control of his company back – woohoo – and Vergis falling on his own sword was good drama.
Beyond that?
FEH.
The whole deadwalker thing was poorly executed – and the dream Zoe is nonesense ..reminds us of how Baltar and Caprica 5 saw visions. Was kinda neat how Zoe drew pics of Cylons as a child…kinda reminded us of how Starbuck drew pics of the Eye of Jupiter on BSG.
As for Sister Clarise and Mrs. Greystone – kinda neat .but again poorly directed and produced.

Pathogen
was a touching episode wasn’t it?
Eli’s mom missed him so much she went into depression – and great how camille gets her to come on board Destiny (by way of the stones) and a nice twist with her lover too — a sort of Destiny survivor support group on Earth.
What’s going on with Chloe? We don’t care – hopefully whatever it is, will kill her off the show soon.
As for Rush – the dude is a dick.

After 10 long years…Lois finally and officially knows that Clark is the Blur.
WOW.
That was emotional.
All it took was a weird round-about story about Isis and Osiris and the sideshow with Tess and the boy clone Lex.
But finally – now Clark will move forward to become the real hero he is destined to become.
Why has this taken so long? Hey if you could milk a show for 10 yrs……
This final season of Smallville is amazing isn’t it?
V Season 2 delayed till 2011, is ABC trying to kill this show on purpose? October 22, 2010

We though V was a great show and early on the show had great viewing numbers too. Then the big network frakked it up, by messing with the time/day of the show, delaying it during its first 12 episode and now…
the second part of season 1 – or should we just call it season 2 now? — is being pushed back to 2011.
According to ABC’s press release,”
Season 2 will feature more character and lizard reveals, more details about the V’s mythology, while along the way featuring even more action and more plot twists. Viewers can expect a roller coaster ride week to week.
No need to sell us ABC – we’re sold – the show is fantastic – but get your slimy butts in gear and stop de-railing this show with delays.

Take off to the Great White North for some beauty SciFi eh?
A new scifi mag titled AE (I think they should have just called it Take Off Eh?) is set to debut this month.
The catch with this pub is that it’s not just being published in Canada – for now – it’s also only taking submissions from Canadians too.
If the website image (above) is any indication, we might be in for some post-apocalyptic CN Tower home to zombie action while Canadian girls drive around on Ski-doos.

We just watched last week’s Caprica episode –Retribution
and yeaah it sucks.
It took us sooo long to actually watch the show, because to be honest — we’ve got better things to do than watch boring crappy TV like Caprica.
Retribution was slow and pointless.
Yes, Daniel Graystone has sold his soul – ok we get it. And sure Sister Clarisse is a vengeful witch – but the way the show is put together we just don’t care. Somehow a brilliant concept has been destroyed by poor directing/production/pacing and acting.
The only reason why we keep watching the show is because we want it to get better. We want to know the history of the Cylons and how they rise up against the colonies.
AT this rate though, that’s not likely to happen as it’s doubtful that Syfy will renew this drek for a second season.
Stargate Universe SGU – Telford isn’t going to be lost for long. October 17, 2010

Awakening was another fine episode — but if falls into what has now become a common pattern for SGU.
Every third or fourth episode of SGU is about someone getting stranded off Destiny somewhere.
This week it’s Col. Telford.
Will he be back? Of course…just like Rush found his way back and just like Chloe found her way back and just Like Eli found his way back…they all come home.
WTF is the deal with Rush keeping news of the control room to himself for so long though? that’s just nuts.
Also the seed ship was awesome…a ship that makes gates…you would have though there was some kind of naquita generator capacity too that they could have taken to help power the one gate on their ship.

Smallville Season 10 Homecoming was another decent — if not overly drawn out and emotional – episode in this the final season.
Finally we see Clark – in the future mind you – with the ‘glasses’ disguise…..as if….but that’s all part of the Superman mythos.
And we get that new version of Superman saving Lois Lane in the choper (remember that from Superman The Movie?) .
Yeaah lots of sappy Clark loves Lois stuff – but we love that too…
and Oliver going in front of the cameras – taking potshots at armchair bloggers…that was priceless.

So apparently shapeshifters from the other side of Fringe have emotions too…go figure.
Ohh and their brains are literally in their asses.
Great to see Walter take control of Massive Dynamic…though I’m not sure the employees would agree.
And it’s also clear the other side Olivia is a serious ho-bag with no remorse.

Great to see Katee Sackhofff again wasn’t it?
And in a Colonial Flight Suite too !!
How about that conversation with George Takei about being typecast?
– fracking awesome!
Katee’s comments in the backseat – make the move – lalalala – HA!
But…if you’ll recall, Katee’s first appearance on Big Bang Theory — in the tub was awesome too …and didn’t involve a Battlestar Gallactica flightsuit.

A webisode based series can make the jump to TV. Just ask the producers of the steampunk phenomenon Riese.
SyFy will begin airing Riese:Kingdom Falling on October 26th
““We saw Riese and thought they had done just an amazing job, and then we were able to give them some resources and bring Amanda on board to really help them take the series to the next level,” Craig Engler, Senior Vice President/General Manager, Syfy Digital said in a statement. ” I think new and existing fans will love the relaunch of the series on Syfy.com and enjoy all the new additions.”
Eleysia is a dying kingdom where resources are dwindling and compassion is fading. Distrust and anxiety have clouded people’s minds, causing a regression into primitive ways of thinking. People have grown restless, almost feral. Rituals and mythology have resurged, and the darker side of mankind has begun to reveal itself.
Riese (Christine Chatelain), a wanderer, travels across the decaying lands of Eleysia with her wolf, Fenrir. Marked as a heretic by religious group The Sect and the new Empress, Amara, Riese must evade their assassins and discover their true intentions for Eleysia.
Riese is the Crown Princess of Eleysia, forced to flee into the wilds after her family was slaughtered. She will soon serve as a catalyst for a disparate group of supposed heretics, the Resistance, launching them into civil war.

Supergirl is back – well
she’s not called Supergirl – but the Daily Planet’s headline – The Maiden of Might – was kinda neat.
Laura Vandervoort – as Kara – El is awesome and it’s fantastic to see her back on Smallville.
From a story perspective – why is Kal-El such a wimp? Is Kara that much better? Why can’t the dude fly?
The whole leather/sado/maso thing with Lois Lane was interesting too.
But why is Oliver revealing his secret? How could he possibly continue as Green Arrow now?
