A new trailer for Stargate Universe is now out ..this one showing us the basics of the story that we haven’t seen before.
The Earthers are on Icarus base – sounds like a beta site idea – and they fall under attack – jump through an open gate and end up on an ancient ship 7 billion light years from Earth.
Sound like they ended up in the Delta Quadrant..
anyways a cool trailer to watch and we can hardly wait until the series is finally on – WE NEED OUR STARGATE FIX!!

Remember that grainy footage we had when TR2N has its first trailer?
Disney is now out with a nice clean version for Tron Legacy – mostly the same, just clearer – still SWEEEET to watch.

Yeaah we’re pumped for Tron 2..we sure have waited long enough.
Last year they were going to call it TR2N which was one of the coolest names for a flick ever.
Now the Mickey Mousketeers and Disney have butchered that and are now calling the moving Tron Legacy.
Isn’t that a little lame?
Early footage looks awesome though – as soon as we can find a public link to post we will!
Principal photography apparently has already wrapped up and we shouldn’t expect to the movie until 2011.
Do you Remember Sargasso Planet? July 22, 2009

Actually I don’t remember Sargasso planet…was that the show that came on after He-Man? or was it Brave Starr?
Looks like a bunch of SciFi bloggers (ShowMeSciFi.com included) have been tagged with schwag as part of a new viral marketing effort for Sargasso Planet…
OR NOT.
A quick visit to Sargasso Planet’s website has a link buried on it for a new NBC show called Day One.
Looks like your standard aliens invade post-apocalyptic Earth plot – not sure how the Sargasso Planet will tie in but hey – show doesn’t hit NBC until 2010

We’re still a few months away from the first real TV appearance of the new Doctor Who – with the new Doctor – Matt Smith –
Smith began his first filming as the new Doctor this week – and the BBC has let loose a few images – but not much…
Check out this clip below for some great British speculation on Matt Smith and the new Doctor Who.

A new bunch of Habro ships are now out – including a new Super Vulture Droid fighter!
Loads of weapons on this bad boy – 6 rockets with 2 launchers, for all sorts of combat fun. A spring-loaded “head” pops up to compliment the split-apart wings, which transforms the ship from sleek starfighter to a birdlike walking robot.
I haven’t seen this ship (yet) on store shelves but it is available from Entertainment Earth for $26.99 now. I have not yet seen a better deal on eBay with pricing ranging from $29.95 to $34.95. (Vulture Droid on eBay)

Doesn’t it always suck when you’re playing a game and you have to read the text the character is supposed to be saying?
It kills the mood of the game doesn’t it?
That won’t be the came with Star Wars the Old Republic – the whole shebang will be fully voiced!
Bioware has a new documentary vid about the voice stuff – in which they show some new gameplay footage too. Looks great!

The greatest Doctor Who of them all – Tom Baker is coming back !
He’s just finishing up a series of five audio dramas for the BBC – Baker’s first time back as the greatest Time Lord in nearly 30 years.
There is a great interview online with the dude that wrote the audio episodes and he’s as excited as can be.
..went down to be there at what felt like an historic occasion. He was on top form. Unbelievable. Full of charisma, bursting into the studios. Then he was at the mike with other cast members, and suddenlyI can picture the very moment he turned back into the Doctor. One minute it was introductions and actorly chat and then all of a sudden he was rehearsing lines his first being, ‘Hullo, I’m the Doctor’
It was a very shivery moment.
The first of the five audio plays isDoctor Who: Hornets’ Nest – The Stuff of Nightmares – set for a Sept 3, 2009 release.
Get your jelly bellies ready baby!

The idea of humans participating in a game where they kill each other for sport is an old idea. The Most Dangerous Game and The Running Man are the two most famous examples.
Now 300’s Gerard Butler is set to do a new take – with live human players in a real MMORPG.
Nothing new here – but the still an interesting trailer to watch

The Star Trek Destiny series ripped apart the Star Trek universe leaving billions dead and billions more homeless…
This isn’t a Federation vs SOMEONE ELSE book, this is a Federation against itself book as it tries to deal with massive refugee movements and politics.
At first I was a bit skeptical — but once I got into this book I found it totally engaging. The characters are true – Worf has the right dialogue as does Picard — the author has done a brilliant work capturing the real essence of what always has made TNG work.
The basics of the story were interesting but it is the storytelling and the characters that make this book Awesome.
In a lot of ways, we found this book to be even better than the first Star Trek Destiny fallout book – A Singular Destiny – though that’s a great book too.
We like where the Star Trek universe is heading – this is the rich complexity of environments, characters and plots that only great storytelling and masterful authors can deliver. Losing the peace was great, my only complaint now is what’s next? How many months (years?) will we have to wait until the next great Star Trek TNG book?
Star Wars Uncut : Recreating A New Hope 15 seconds at time July 13, 2009

There have been a lot of fan films based off Star Wars – the original movie episode IV A New Hope – over the last 30 years.
Now Star Wars Uncut has an ingenious way to get a whole star wars movie made by fans – 15 seconds at a time.
It’s an interesting idea – but the quality is somewhat lacking at this early stage – check out some of the first 15 second uploads at: http://www.starwarsuncut.com/#/
Mostly Harmless is mostly Fun – Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy review July 10, 2009

So at long last – we finally hit the final book in the HitchHiker’s series and Mostly Harmless really is mostly fun.
The whole bit with Tricia/Tristan in parallel timelines wasn’t just the typical Adams sillyness – but is brilliantly crafted character scifi too.
What if you chose a different path what would have happened sort of thing..
The final few pages where Arthur finally meets his end – in a bar on Earth instead of some strange planet – also sheer brilliance.
If you haven’t recently read or re-read this trilogy in five parts – summer is a great time to do so. I had not read this series in more than ten years and I didn’t remember all that much either to be honest.

It’s that time of year again! Atom Films Star Wars Fan film challenge 2009 and you’ve only got until Friday July 10th to vote.
As was the case last year – there are a few retreads from other Star Wars Fan film venues – but there are also some that we’ve never seen elsewhere that are truly AWESOME.
Unfortunately Atom still doesn’t have a video clips that can be directly shared/embedded in a wordpress.com blog — which by the way Atom execs – TOTALLY SUX Bantha Fodder –
Among the finalists this year that we like are:
Here it is as a contestant in the 2006 Spacey Awards
Knights of the Old Republic: Revan IS a fantastic live action version of Darth Revan that is great to watch.
For the horny toads out there the clear winner is:
Saber which pits two hot stripper chicks against each other in some weird version of light saber strip attacking.
And our final pick is :
WTF Star Wars – which is an alternate take on Episode IV – where the Death Star survives and Destroys Yavin IV.
Go to the Atom Films Star Wars site and see ’em all for yourself and be sure to vote – and tell us who you voted for!

Yeaah Stargate Universe is supposed to be its own Stargate series, but it looks like we’ll get a few cameos from regular old Stargate SG-1 t ypes too.
Michael Shanks the actor who plays Daniel Jackson apparently is already on board.
“I will say I got the script and there’s a good chance Daniel will be making a brief cameo along with some other people from the Stargate universe,” Shanks said in an interview with The Official Stargate SG-1/Atlantis Magazine. “That’s probably as much as I can say without getting my nuts chopped off. I’m literally in there for two seconds to provide some brief information. I’m not an integral part of it at all.”
