Kill all the Mon Cals? a bit extreme even for a Sith.
A real solid plot driving story for the wider (no Cade Skywalker) Star Wars Legacy story…and great to see the GA and Roan Fel’s empire perhaps link up to take on Krayt’s empire.
Art in his is ok, but not great by Legacy standards… I can hardly wait till Jan Duresema comes back.
for that matter i can hardly wait to see what’s going on with Roan Fel..or his daughter! How many issues has it been since we saw them last?
TOO MANY.
But soon…soon all will be revealed (or at least we hope it will).

That was such a great show — Deal or No Deal Star Wars Edition was the most awesome game show ever broadcast on network television.
They really did that show right. Vader as the banker was awesome (it sounded like the guy who does Chad Vader). The Tie Fighter sound effect for taking numbers off the board, the Leia slave girls (not too mention Carrie Fischer herself), Chewie, R2..
AWESOME.
I would buy that show on DVD (but it’s not available)…so here’s a YouTube set of compilation so you too can relieve the best game show ever. Pray that YouTube doesn’t alter the deal further….

This episode should have just been called – Gaius Baltar the Prophet. A bunch of strange things here overall though..
1) How could no one know that Tori killed Kali? aren’t there cameras everywhere on the ship and how could the chief not no?
2) Where were the regular cylons in this episode?
3) How could Caprica Six not know that Col Tigh is a cylon – a Cylon raider knew why not her?
Overall the number of things that just don’t make sense are becoming increasingly compounding making this show less and less accessible to those that don’t follow the show ‘religiously’.
Yes there was some interesting plot development in this episode, but there sure wasn’t much action. Let’s hope we see the Cylons again next episode and we actually get some plot twist that are more dramatic.

We know that Baltar knows who the final Cylon is.
The big question is whether or not he will be the one that actually reveals who that Cylon is to everyone else. If the trailer for this week’s episode – Escape Velocity – is any indication the Baltar character has alot more development to go.

It’s been a very long time since anyone has attempted to develop an animated Star Trek series. That’s now about to change with Starship Farragut.
The U.S.S Farragut is a sister ship to the legendary Enterprise commanded by James T. Kirk. The plan is now to have two animated episodes (there have already been a few ‘live action’ episodes).
Episode one, penned by Michael Struck and Jack Treviño (co-writer of two Deep Space Nine episodes), is entitled “The Needs of the Many”. The second episode, “Power Source”, was written by Thomas J. Scott, an accomplished writer and president of Magique Productions, LTD.
“Since opening startrekanimated.com nine years ago, creating a full length episode of Star Trek: The Animated Series has been a dream of mine,” explained Kail Tescar, webmaster of the premiere Star Trek animated series web site startrekanimated.com. “I’ve been having a great time working on this project with NEO f/x and Farragut Films. It’s been a lot of fun helping to create these episodes, and I hope everyone enjoys them.”

HURRAY! FOX didn’t frak this one up.
Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles has now been officially confirmed for second season of at least 13 episodes.
No official word yet on when season 2 will start, but I’d assume that since the order just came today we’re probably looking at September at the earliest at this point.

Weapons Locker # 1701D (the room where the final 4 cylons get together)… you know you’ve got Star Trek writers on staff when they make a room 1701D..i’m surprised they didn’t find a reason to put NCC in front of it. What’s next a 10 Forward deck on Galactica too?
This is an episode that we have very mixed emotions about. The death of Kali — Not cool.
Tori becoming the evil cylon..ok that’s neat.
Cylons killing Cylons that’s neat too.. and Starbuck showing us that she is some kind of toaster mock up ..also cool.
But what about Helo and Boomer’s Cylon baby? where is that half-breed child? I guess now we’ve got Tyrol’s baby too..
The problem with Battlestar Galactica at this point is a complex one — it’s a good show, but for those that may be new to it..it is inaccessable at this point. The depth of plot and subplot is extremely complex and unlike say Stargate Atlantis, you simply cannot watch just one episode of Battlestar Galactica and expect to know what’s going on.
We sincerely hope that the action quotient picks up in the next episode, that the final five do more self-discovery and that the Cylon’s do bring the Deanna line back to life.
Oh and hey if they do meet next time in 10-40 would be neat to see Guinan too!
Battlestar Galactica Toys – old stuff is cheap. new isn’t April 18, 2008

To be perfectly honest we don’t currently own any Battlestar Galactica toys. And that’s a problem.
The piece de resistance for the modern Battlestar Galactica toy collector has to be the Art Asylum version of the new BSG 75 Battlestar Galactica ship.
We tried to get one when they were still brand new and ‘on the shelf’ but they were impossible to find.
On eBay there is currently one listing – starting at a whopping $129.99 (which kinda sounds like a lot but considering how rare this is…that’s not too crazy).
On the old stuff side…how bout a Classic Viper together with 3 figures?
Sounds like a decent haul right??
Bidding on that is now only at $6.50 !!
So what’s the lesson here? If you want old/classic stuff — it won’t cost much, but good luck finding bargain basement pricing on new BSG toys.

But it will cost me at least $750 !!
That’s the current next bid up for the charity auction now underway — to have lunch with Jewel Staite on the set of Stargate Atlantis itself. The charity site lists the actual value of the ‘lunch date’ to be $1000.
Includes: Lunch with Jewel Staite on the set of Stargate Atlantis. Valid for 2 people, for one year, based on availability.
Best known for her role as Kaylee, the sweet, happy and sensual ship’s mechanic on the critically acclaimed sci-fi series Firefly, Jewel Staite is the newest addition to the Stargate universe. Already a veteran actress at 25, Staite began her career at the age of 9. Finding success early on, she earned both Gemini (Canadian Emmy) and Canadian Television Film and Showcase Award nominations for her work on the Disney Channel series Flash Forward with Ben Foster.
Check out the bidding for yourself and if you got the creds…by all means BID (and send us pics when you win!!).

Last week it was only a special Noon EDT webcast – now they’ve gone whole hog.
Unfortunately for me — i’ve got a day job and don’t have an hour during the day…(yes it sucks to be me).
**Thnx Lisa for pointing out the day (was supposed to be a future post…#@#!! wordpress…)!! **

Some cartoons/anime are perhaps better left as anime.
I’m not sure where Avatar the last Airbender fits…i guess we’ll have to wait till 2010.
The movie is being directed by ‘I see dead people’ M . Night Shyamalan. Variety notes that The creators of the Nick TV series were heavily influenced by Japanese anime filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.
Shyamalan, who will direct from a script he penned, said Miyazaki is one of the greatest storytellers in the world. “In ‘The Last Airbender,’ I see an opportunity to make a live-action version of a Miyazaki film,” Shyamalan said.

Michael Crichton’s Andromeda Strain is coming back..this time as a TV mini-series on Memorial Day.
this time around it’s being produced by Blade Runner’s Ridley Scott and his son Tony..so you can be it’ll be darker than the original 1971 classic.
The original is a classic but check out the the original trailer to remind yourself of just how bad effects were 37 years ago.

FOX’s cancellation of Firefly remains one of the greatest SciFi travesties of all time.
Dark Horse is working hard to help us…and Serenity : Better Days issues #2 is a great step.
Can a comic book recapture the glory that is Firefly?
The answer in this case is an emphatic
YES!!!
The characters are right.
The dialogue is right.
The plot is right
The art is right.
Everything is right about this book — except for the fact that it’s only a three issue mini-series!!!!!
Virtuality – Can you do a whole series about holodecks? April 14, 2008

Forget about Caprica, Ronald Moore is placing his bets on FOX for his next series.
Moore has got FOX (yes the same FRAKIN network that canceled Firefly) to green light a pilot for a new series called Virtuality.
The sci-fi project, from Universal Media Studios and producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, is set aboard the Phaeton, Earth’s first starship, on a 10-year journey to explore a distant solar system. To help the 12 crew members endure the long trip and keep their minds occupied, NASA equipped the ship with advanced virtual reality modules, allowing them to assume adventurous identities and go to any place they want. The plan works until a mysterious “bug” is found in the system.
Remember of course that Moore used to write on Star Trek TNG, home of the holodeck. So now he’s pitching a whole series where the holodeck is the centerpiece of the show.

Awesome show this past Friday night on GameTrailer TV on Spike. They showed a whole lot of new footage from the game…
But perhaps most importantly they showed the first time ever…two guys playing head to head in death match mode on the Wii.
No there is no Wifi ..option (yet) but it it does look sharp. This will be the first head to head star wars deathmatch kind of game since Star Wars Master of the Teras Kasi for PS1.
Check out the footage in the vid below (the really wicked stuff starts at the 3 minute mark)

Some Battlestar Galactica episodes are better than others.
This one was all about plot development, and it sure did drag on a whole lot.
The extended leaving scenes with Lee Adama and the stuff with Troy were just well…not good.
The Cylon Civil War stuff…now that’s cool. But unless the Six’s can kill all the other opposing models it’s going to be tough. Frankly I don’t understand why Raiders themselves just didn’t all just fly off when they realized what was happening.
So now we’ve got sentient Centurions and Raiders with the skin jobs as equals…Nice.
Who is the Final Cylon? We know that Baltar knows it will be interesting to see though if he is the one that does finally let us know. Beyond that the Baltar character doens’t have a real purpose anymore does he?

Dr. Who used to be available in the US only on PBS.
Then the new stuff became available on BBC America.
Then Torchwood came to BBC America
But Sarah Jane Adventures is coming to a new network..NBC Universal’s Sci Fi Channel as part of the Friday night lineup headlined by Battlestar Galactica.
I always liked Sarah Jane..she’s a quirky companion. From what i’ve read about the show it’s likely something that i’m either going to really like or hate…I guess we’ll just have to watch.

First off, I have to admit that I have not read Star Trek New Frontier in the regular book formats…so getting it in IDW’s Comic is a first.
It’s written by Peter David the same guy that created New Frontier and coincidentally is the author of Marvel’s Stephen King Dark Tower series too — David is one busy dude.
Star Trek New Frontier is an interesting read though this first issue is entirely predictable…kinda.
There is a new type of Warp drive…ok we’ve heard that before..
It gets stolen …ok..
Now we need to see who stole it and why.
Basic enough plot, decent — though not superb art. This series looks like one to watch as it moves forward, it has the potential to break some new ground and it will be interesting to see if it actually does that.

The second issue of Long Road Home is almost as awesome as the first issue.
Again — awesome art.
The ka-tet continues to make its way home, albeit slowly as Roland remains trapped mentally in the sphere.
Not a tremendous amount of plot development, as opposed to travel, but still entertaining.
This is the kind of thing that in a book would be a chapter you’d read through quickly just to see where they end up…unfortunately for us we’re stuck reading this as a monthly now…which is really the only downside to this comic.
Who in their sane mind would want to wait a month in between reading chapters of Dark Tower???

Forget about SkyNet. The open source Mozilla Firefox 3 browser is controlled by robots.
Don’t believe me?
Type in:
about:robots
In the address bar of Firefox 3 Beta 5 and you’ll see what I mean (or just click the thumbnail below).
The developers of Firefox (let’s call them robot sympathizers) have put all kinds of hidden messages about their plot for world domination.
Among them is one of Asimov’s Laws of Robots
A Cylon hint
As well as the line “Gort! Klaatu barada nikto” – which is a line from The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951). The phrase was used to stop the robot Gort.
And I bet you thought there was no link between the worlds of open source browser development and SciFi…
