If this were a Stephen King novel i’d certainly have raced through this issue to reach the end. IN comic book format we don’t get that luxury – we have to wait a month.
This is a decent issue but doesn’t really have any really extraordinary revelations or artwook. Sure it’s good but…issue 6 in a 7 issue series is just a stepping stone to the grand finale.
I know..we said that about issue #5
Will issue 7 be a let down? of course it will. Dark Tower fans already know what the first book has so it’s just a question of filling in the gaps.
What a great image.
I’ve liked the series so far. Like you, I’ve read all the books, so most of this is old news to me, but I have been impressed with some of the little things in it. Like a glimpse of the Crismon King in issue… 2, I think? I think the 7th one will be good. I can’t wait to see how they illustrate Jonas’s face when Roland’s riding toward him. 🙂
One think I haven’t liked quite as much is all the extra stuff at the end. I’m glad they threw it in there – some of it’s been pretty cool. But to me, a lot of it gets way too weird. What I liked so much about the Gunslinger series when I first started it were the little hints that made it seem as though the Gunslinger’s world was a future version of our own. However, as the books progressed (and as these comic inserts have further fleshed it out) that seems less and less to be the case.
Anyway, I’m definitely looking forward to future story arcs in this series. I’d really like to see what happens to Roland and his ka-tet between Mejis and Tull (including Jericho Hill).
And does anybody else think that a lot of the variant covers look better than the originals?
