Terminator : Sarah Connor Chronicles Pilot Part 2 – how long can this go on for? January 15, 2008

Alright after the euphoria of seeing a new Terminator the second part of the pilot was a bit of a let down.

Sure since the first Terminator we know that Terminators keep coming back, again and again and again.

In this series it looks like there will be multiple Terminators coming at the Connors. While that may make sense in a way..in others its annoying. The Terminator that was blasted in the Bank vault in 1999 should have been toast.

The missing dad syndrome for John is interesting and i’m sure that we’ll see plenty more of that in the future.

Again the fact that the Summer Glau Terminator takes orders from no one in the present is somewhat annoying.

But the fact that we’ve got freedom fighters from the future coming back in time too makes this even more complex.

Still, week after week, wave after wave of Terminator coming against the Connors – it’s going to be a really tough sell to keep this show fresh.

I disagree that it will be tough to keep it fresh.

There a lot of universal themes from T2 being explored more deeply in the series.

-What does it take to be human?
-Can a machine become human?
* I believe we will see Cameron transition from pretending to interact socially to actually interacting socially in the high school setting.
Who can learn to value human life: machines or humans?
* There is potential lover interest twixt John and the Terminator.
-That is bound to be awkward and uncomfortable for everyone, including the audience.
If war is crazy, what happens to those engaged in that war?
-How tough is Sarah Connor really… “tough but vulnerable”.
-No fate but what we make.
-Is human self-annihilation inevitable? Can it be delayed indefinitely through a time war?
