Matt who??? That’s exactly what we said. The BBC has named a virtual nobody to be the next Doctor Who and the 11th Time Lord in the history of the show.
Matt Smith will be the youngest looking Doctor Who ever too.
“David Tennant has made the role his own, brilliantly with grace, talent and persistent dedication,” Smith said in a BBC press release. ” I hope to learn from the standards set by him. The challenge for me is to do justice to the show’s illustrious past, my predecessors and most importantly to those who watch it. I really cannot wait.”
Here’s the full video announcement from the BBC.
He does look very young. Of course, the Doctor is supposed to get younger every time he regenerates (I can’t remember if that is the right word, how embarrassing! what kind of fan am I?) I just hope I get to watch him someday since the Scifi Channel (also known as the Skiffy Tube) may not air the show. BBC America shows the previous seasons, but it has not shown the Christmas special as far as I know.
