Barbarella is coming Back! February 5, 2007

Multiple news sites are confirming that discussions are now underway for a remake of the 60’s cult classic SciFi flic Barbarella starring Jane Fonda.
Though Fonda is not likely to reprise her starring role (and hey who would really want to see her in this sort of role now anyway?!) Dino De Laurentiis( the original producer) is the person spearheading the effort.
First Battlestar Galactica get re-imagined, Flash Gordon is on the way now Barbarella. Here’s hoping the new version is better than the first version.

Has anyone ever read the original comics by J-C Forest? L’Association’s been putting out handsome collections of his other work, but not that one yet.
Barbarella does not need to be remade, unless they thought the first one stunk so bad that the new one will look great in comparison.
p.s. I like the new Dresden Files which I caught for the first time last night.

Remaking “Barbarella?” Why not? It isn’t like the original had a huge amount of depth to spoil or outstanding performaces that would overshadow a remake. And as hot as Jane was, you could still find somebody hotter.
I’d be fine with another sexy sci fi film, and maybe that will keep Hollywood busy for a while and away from things they really, really, really shouldn’t try to remake.
