Battlestar Galactica Movie all about Pegasus March 26, 2007

Posted by showmescifi in Battlestar Galactica, Battlestar Pegasus, battlestargalactica, scifi.

So now that Season 3 is officially over for Battlestar Galactica – we’ve got 8 long months until we see Season 4. In the interim there will be a Battlestar Galactica direct to DVD movie – all about the Battlestar Pegasus. In an awesome interview, Ronald D. Moore explains what’s going to happen.

That story will not pick up our cliffhanger at the end of Season 3. That didn’t seem right. The story will be set on the Battleship Pegasus and will take place in the past, relative to where we are in Season 3. But the events set up in that story will then pay off in Season 4.

…. Since we won’t be back until January, which is a long time to be off the air, it gives the fans something to see and keeps the show alive. So it serves multiple masters. There was no way we could pick up the cliffhanger in that format, and then ask people to wait to really start the season later. One of the story lines everyone had really liked was the Pegasus story and the character of Admiral Cain, so we decided to go with that.

Moore also drops a real bomb- apparently he hasn’t yet determined whether or not Season 4 will be the last season for BSG either.

The way i see it Season 4 is all about the origins of the cylon race as well as the human race. When and if both of those plot lines are resolved the show really should end.

Plot theory:

The original Cylon War ended with the Cylons leaving for open space… not to be seen again for 40 years!!!??

I believe that in that interim. The Cylons ‘found’ earth – thereby giving them the ‘models’ for emulating humans – along with the monotheism and the biology to reproduce.

The whole invasion/attack is a plan to bring the BSG colonists to earth to homogenize the Cylons and human races. The “Final Five” are key to this.

The Cylons know what humans look like. They just made there own versions of humans.

What is needed to give the show a different plot. At least for one show would be for the Galactica to find another Battlestar in deep space.

The Battlestar could be frozen or the crew in hybernation. The Galactica crew would have to decide what a Battlestar is doing so far out in space. To add to the confusion, the ship doesn’t appear in any colonial defense databases. It’s an unknown Battlestar. Is it a Cylon trap or something kept under wraps by Colonial Intelligence. The frozen crew could also be carriers of a deadly virus or plague. Well, it’s just a thought.

has anyone considered that because we are unaware of the current time in BSG that earth could also be a space fairing race??? I purpose the thought that earth is a space fairing cilivilation, who have in turn met other species and are joined together in a massive alliance called “Colonial Federation” the protectors of this federation are ‘Legion Command’. The federation is in a state of war with the Hermartee. Battlestar Galactica finds an outpost on the border of federation and hermartee space. And because the federation is more advanced than the twelve colonies communication is not possible for the moment. Galactica destroyes the outpost, which prompts Legion Command sending a ship to investigate. This is when the Galactica meets their lost brothers and sisters for the first time! It would finally after all the running the galactica and the fleet has done give hope, but at the same time give them reason to pause, as their brothers and sisters also are at war! its just an idea

The one thing no one has touched on is when this all takes place
Battlestar Galactica could all have taken place thousands of years ago which could bring in the Atlantis and Lemuria myths.
The lost tribe of humans could be far more advanced than the Colonies. The last battle between the Galactica and the Cylons could involve the distruction of Atlantis as the last Cylon Baseship crashes into the crater of the Volcano Atlantis uses for power. The Galactica and the remaining Atlantians head back to retake the Colonies as the Atlantians have the power to remove the radiation from the colonies.Earth being thought uninhabitable for thousands of years, but the Atlantians vowing to return.
As the Fleet moves off the the scene changes to earth and bands of survivers out of contact with the fleet vowing to keep the story of Atlantis alive.
Shift to present day Earth and the finding of an Atlantian base deep under the Atlantic Ocean. Now a new riddle ” WHY DIDNT THEY COME BACK”. Should the children of Earth follow a trail 12000 years old to find the Colonies.

6. ODA - September 16, 2007

Interesting…in the classic series there was an update, Galactica 1980, which showed Galactica arriving at present day earth and trying to slowly incorporate its citizens and technology. But I like Philip’s idea.

7. Jeremy - September 24, 2007

One thing that should be considered here is that the colonies and the 13th colony all have had space travel ability since the time of Kobol. so for the 13th tribe not to have space travel wouldn’t make any sense. What i think needs to happen is there needs to be some kind of explanation to exactly what happened on Kobol. Yes there was a calamity..the planet was evacuated..but what happened exactly..what led to this calamity and were the gods really gods or just a technologically advanced race similar to men.
