Mara Jade Skywalker didn’t have to die at the hands of Darth Caedus.
It was a wasted empty death…
Lucas Licensing apparently allowed this disaster to happen and now we should call on them to reverse it. The Sith have the power to bring back the dead and so too then does the Force.
Whether it is Ben or Luke Skywalker or even someone else I don’t care. I just want Mara Jade back.
To that end we here at ShowMeSciFi have started a petition to Bring Back Mara Jade.

There’s enough depressing crap going on in the world right now than to have to constantly see the best of the Star Wars universe being picked off one by one to the point that I can understand those that don’t want anything to do with the Expanded Universe. At first I was a die hard fan and totally disagreed with their view about the EU. Now I’m in agreement with them. The longer time goes by and other parties get involved with expanding the Star Wars story the more it’s getting screwed up to the point that there isn’t a story worth telling any longer. Either bring her back or put the pens down and give it up.
There’s a simple answer to that. Buy yourself another set of DVDs and don’t read the EU. Don’t complain to others about stuff you put yourself through.
Luke needs to go and join his beloved wife. He’s had a good run but now it’s just getting old. And if Mara was meant to come back why didn’t look try it himself. He could have atempted it by filling his hand with life-giving-force-energy, as he did once before.
Mara if anything was and is one of the best of the lot she was a lot smarter then the author made her out to be.
For example if Tim Zahn had been writing Sacrifice he wouldn’t have killed off Mara in such a blatantly stupid way as Travissty did.
Mara had a danger sense not to mention knew jedi healing yet the author doesn’t take those into account furthermore the way the EU’s been going as of late is a blatant rip off of the prequel trilogy.
I mean you have someone who pretends to be a good guy when in reality that person’s a sith and he goes around killing people while deceiving others in order to obtain power then you compound that with the whole ‘Im going to do good in the galaxy and save people’ thing not to mention the whole exterminating jedi thing.
There is no purpose in Mara’s death there never was, there would’ve been a purpose if Luke got pissed off and attacked Jacen and killed him but there wasn’t one.
If anything they should at least have her back as a force ghost and do a decent job with the characters instead of letting no talent authors who can’t stand plots, hate jedi and anyone whose not mandalorian in nature run things.

Everyone dies someday, deal with it, it was only a matter of time for Mara. Heck, they coulda killed her off back when Ben was born, but they didn’t! She has been close to death many times, she got what she needed!
Sure, she was an uber sweet Star Wars chick, but oh well. There was a point to her death you idiots. The Skywalker and Solo families were being torn apart slowly, and Mara’s death will tear them almost completely apart. Jacen is now a Sith, he has Uber powers, but he will die.
I saw a mention of the rule of two above, Darth Krayt will be training some sithy apprentices atm on Korribban, the Rule of Two will be destroyed anyway. ALSO, Caedus doesn’t need his apprentice 5 minutes after he becomes a Sith Lord!
Also, she can’t be a Force ghost if her body didn’t… dissolve like Yoda’s and Obi Wans did. She left the body behind so that there would be something left for her family, and maybe give some clues as to who killed her.

Don’t. Now you’re getting into the realm of declaring what an author would or wouldn’t do, and you have absolutely no right to do that. And Traviss is one of the most gifted writers writing under the Star Wars label, and I for one will not tolerate her being insulted. Stick to people actually present in the discussion.
And as for what Zahn would do, Zahn’s a good author, and Sacrifice was meant to be a heart-wrenching book. I’d bet you anything you’d be just as dissatisfied with his ending as with the current one.

Force Ghost can still be there even if the body is left behind. Anakin Sky walker did it remember. Lets not forget the first Force Ghost Qui Gong Jin.

THe old Starwars characters have to die at some point.
Kalira, there is one point when enough is enough. I think Jacen says that the trick to train somebody is to push them hard enough but not go overboard, in which case the become disappointed and they give up. Mara Jade was a great female character, and who’s left to replace her? Leia, the aristocratic, lame, heartbroken lady or her immature, scruffy daughter Jaina (although the story may do better if it is true she ends up with Jag Fel). Mara was more real life, like people who started with nothing (unlike Princess Leia), used their talents, did not despair during hard times, and were still able to be humble and understanding and have humor. It was a good think to see her force ghost in Legacy talking to Cade. Yes, at some point Mara had to die, probably a violent death (a knife for a knife) to pay for her own crimes, but I am not sure I care enough for the trio Luke, Leia and Han.
Bring Mara back.
