Neither the Wraith nor the Replicators, the G’ould or the Orii could beat Atlantis..but NBC Universal is canceling the show.
The current Stargate Season 5 WILL BE THE LAST season of Stargate. The last episode will air in January 2009.

Is Sci Fi Channel stoned? Who pays these clowns?
Stargate SG-1 had a 10 year run, Atlantis is doing well in the ratings and is arguably the best show currently running on Sci Fi channel. This current season with the command change was starting to look very promising and there is still so very much of the Pegasus Galaxy to explore.
It’s just wrong.
Stargate Atlantis – like SG-1 isn’t dead mind you. Instead the greedy self-serving braniacs at SciFi will keep Atlantis limited just to straight to DVD movies. Yes Stargate Continuum was a great movie – but personally I’d rather see a full season of episodes than 1 or 2 movies in a year.
“We’re excited to tell Atlantis stories on a bigger canvas,” said Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper, co-creators of SG-1 and Atlantis, in a statement. “The successes of the two original Stargate [direct-to-video] movies The Ark of Truth and Continuum have shown us the opportunities that the movie format offers. We have plans for both SG-1 and Atlantis to remain vital as we expand the franchise.” Atlantis will air a milestone 100th episode in January 2009.

this is a great show and does not deserve to be canceled..
please reconcider the cancellation of stargate atlantis. it is a wonderful show. i do not watch much regular tv for i find nothing to interest me. wife swap shows no morals. ugly betty makes fun of others who have to wear glasses and braces. farmer takes a wife is a laugh. those model like girls will not last on a farm because it is hard work. atlantis is funny and exciting. rodney is so stupid and cute. who could not want ronnin to come and visit them along with shepard at his side. talia can really kick a mans butt. your cancelling the show because of buget costs, but you made another show in its place. my friends and me are going to be bored on friday nights now i guess. please change your mind, thanks, linda
I am blown away at how GOOD Stargate Atlantis is, it is brilliant. It has a taken so many great themes matrix/star trek/star wars even buffy and mixed it with just the right amount of seriousness and COMEDY. I am blown away by the team characters especially RODNEY/SHEPHERD the interaction of them in the scripting makes a brilliant combination. I will surely miss atlantis.
I hate the money grubers at NBC just don;t want to pay the extra cash to renew the cast, and 5 year run is needed before a show can go into reruns. Damn TV executive bean counters
You people at NBC Universal need to reconsider your choice to cancel Stargate Atlantis,this is the best show you people have running,and dont send me an email saying that its best because you are wrong,you dont listen to the public,the people who watch scifi if you did you wouldnt be getting rid of the show.
