After all the excitement – 6 years of TV dating back to the original mini-series in 2003. This is how it ends.
Starbuck isn’t a Cylon – she’s an ‘angel’? what was her ship that came back then?
The first hour of this show Season 4 Episode 20 Daybreak (Daybreak, Part 3
The deal with Cavel – also brilliant..as was Tyrol going nuts when he realized who killed Calli that was all neat up until they jumped away.
Then the show went right to hell.
Lets fly all our ships into the sun because technology is bad?? WHAT THE FRAK IS THAT.
(yes it was cool to hear the classic Battlestar Galactica theme though as the ships sailed into the sun though).
The visions of Caprica and Baltar were just angels too? I’m not sure about that.
The whole idea that the Galactica’s crew then goes on 150,000 years later to help seed humanity on Earth — that was kinda neat and it was neat to see Ron Moore at the newsstand in New York City.
This is it? Really?
So yes there were some redeeming moments to this series finale for sure. Yes it did try and tie up as many loose ends as possible. But it was in our view still somewhat disappointing.
Battlestar Galactica in this new creation has always tried to take a high moral ground and be about more than just science fiction. But to say that technology is the root of evil is just wrong. For the colonists to give up their ships and technology entirely makes no sense. For Starbuck to just be an ‘angel’ makes no sense.
Of all the great BattleStar Galactica episodes – and there have been some 80 hours of it at this point – this is not Galactica’s finest hour. Not by a long shot.
It’s a mediocre and unsatisfying end to a magnificent series.
We will miss you Galactica and we will remember the good times, the great times, the fantastic characters and scenarios and we will be grateful. It will be hard for anyone to ever replace you.

Myself I kind of liked the old Galactica 1980 ending, when the Galacticans interacted with the humans on earth. In those series, Starbuck did have an odd end also, stuck alone on a desert planet and having a spiritual “child” that was sent back to help the Galacticans. Anyway, destroying the ships was useless. It would have been better to have half of the population to inhabit earth, which could then explain similarities of names and fables in ancient cultures, – and another half setting up shop in one of the solar system planets, keeping an eye on earth…which could open up another cycle of stories in the present time. There could be some descendants on earth, and they make contact with the other remnants.

I have to respectfully disagree with you (shocking)
I have watched the final episode three times this weekend and it gets better every time.
I think my favorite line is when Six and Baltar both say at the same time…
“You can see them?”
The whole Starbuck as an angel still has me scratching my head, but maybe in the future I will get it. All in all, the new Battlestar Galactica was an awesome show and I cannot wait to see it from the Cylon’s point of view in the fall.
Yeaah the “You can see them?” line was a great line six years in the making.
Baltar and Caprica Six is where this show began – back with the mini-series and it is fitting that it ends with them too.
Adrenaline peaking during battle scenes …cool, cool , cool…now I can breath again – then WHAT?
Would have been better to have the 150,000 year scene cut to news report about ancient artifacts discovered in Africa than running the fleet into the Sun. At least Grace Park them on the dark side of the Moon. Either would have been a great tie in to all kinds of conspiracy theories and ancient myths and lots of “oooooOOOOOOoooooo” style thoughts. But No!
Let go live in tents! Yeah right. These were people totally dependent on technology. Chance of survival on unknown planet of unknown climate with unknown infestations and unknown hunting and warrior skills of local inhabitants? – the same as Starbuck being a clueless angsty bimbo angel. “My mission is complete..” or what EV VER!!!
Must learn to take the good with the bad – what will Caprica be?
I just watched the entire series for the first time in under a month. For me it truly was like watching a month long movie that I could NOT stop watching. Now that I’ve seen the entire arc, there are issues I had with the finale (most already mentioned). But all in all this show is still easily in my top ten of all time…
I was dissapointed as well. And all the useless flashbacks to “Caprica before the fall” just to justify that Starbuck didn’t want to be forgotten — Sam was looking for perfection — Boomer owed the old man one.
I can understand the “human” perspective they wanted to give on the characters but not now! Not when everybody wants to see mysteries solved and resolution for all problems.
Besides, I could do w/out seeing the admiral completely drunk (useless scene and not in character at all for how he was back then) or w/out 15 minutes of reminiscing for Laura Roslin’s family and sex life and Gaius’s Baltar father — oh well, at least w/out Laura Roslin’s scenes which were veeeeeeery loooooong.
No comment at all on the Starbuck is an angel idea – that was just plain stupid.
The whole “deus ex machina” ending was just the easier way out. It seems they ran out of ideas in the end. It was totally dissapointing to end a science fiction series with the justification that it was God’s plan.
Too bad about the good episodes along the way…

Anyone else see parallels to Isaac Asimov, when Olivaw manipulated the human race over thousands of years?
The ending when the ‘angels’ said that God didn’t like to be called God. Does he like to be called to Daniel by any chance, and does he live on the moon?
