Yeaah we were waiting for Battlestar Galactica The Plan for months. And yeaah we watched within a few days of its release.

It is so shockingly BAD that it has taken this long for us to have the stomach to write a review.

Battlestar Galactica deserves better than this kind of treatment. I don’t know if Ron Moore was smoking crack when he put this together or what was going on, but it’s totally wrong.

This isn’t a movie – it’s more like a disconnected collection of snippets that make little sense. Sure if watch the movie a few times and try and place each section in the Battlestar Galactica timeline it might start to make sense…eventually.

As a standalone movie this move does not stand at all and is not watchable. It’s that bad.

It could have been called “The Confession of the Ones” but overall it adds nothing to the BSG canon. I think this movie should be labeled by fandom as “The Mistake” and just forget about this frakking pile of bantha fodder.

BSG can do better. Razor was a decent standalone movie that added to the BSG universe in a really cool way. Perhaps after Ron Moore went nuts declaring Kara Thrace and Angel (wtf??!!) he’s no longer sane and isn’t capable of producing decent BSG stuff anymore.

Totally agree! A waste of time and money. I guess they had some deleted scenes and stitched them together. One would expect scenes from the Cylon “Planet”, if there was one, how they evolved, how they prepared their war machine. Some scenes on the Cylon Baystar, planning the attack, planting the spies, tracking Galactica and the fleet afterwards.
As for the Angel Starbuck, I think the old Battlestar 1980 had something similar with Starbuck hooking up with a “spiritual” woman and “spiritually” fathering the child that was then sent to the fleet and became Dr Z.
PS the new comic Battlestar Galactica 1980 also sucks.

Just as many of us expected, there was “no plan” after the destruction of the colonies. It would’ve been far more interesting if it had shown that the Cylons had allowed the Galactica to survive on purpose so they could follow it to Earth. I’m not sure what this pile of garbage was.

Baystar= Base Star?

I was waiting to see how Starbuck was cloned. But it is not in the movie. And how did Dr. Boltar appeared after 10,000 years on Earth with a Five? Too many unanswered questions 😦

I watched a few clips on YouTube. Not worth my time or up to the caliber of the show. the narrative feels too blunt and overt. Cavil starts to feel like the Dr.Evil of Cylondom. And now we will kill allllll the humans, muahaha! Dean is better then this crud.

I loved BSG from season 1 to season 3. Season 4 suffered in the fact that there were issues with the show not being greenlit for a 5th. So season 4 feels a bit hobbled together. Grand themes that were expressed in the previous seasons felt rushed out the door to explanation-ville. And while some complained about the God aspect, that I was OK with. The show had a touch of everything, why not some religion as well?

What I couldn’t stand in the final episode of S4 was Cavil needing to “phone home” to cancel his attack. For an advanced Cylon, it felt like a Verizon advert gone wrong. “Hello, hello… can you hear me now?”. It would have been much cooler if Cavel had slowly closed his eyes, taken a deep breath and everything stopped. Consider it as some sort of wifi extra-sensory communication while within range of his mothership. If a cylon’s soul can be downloaded to a resurrection hub within a nanosecond of death, that means there is a constant link-up over millions of miles.

And what’s the deal with Cylons loosing resurrection tech? Any decent IT department knows you backup, backup, backup your data to protect it. This idea that the Cylons lost resurrection because they put all their eggs in one hidden ship/ basket makes them total idiots, and less logical then humans. To not install your most prised tech on every basestar or the Mothership was idiocy.

And what’s the deal at the very end with pops and son Adama going separate ways on a new world? We all knew Laura was going to die and leave Bill all alone. What man in his 60’s, used to leading a company of people his whole life, is going to abandon his son? Especially when at the very least he’s going to need a hand building that awesome house on the hills.

So if the last point was to something dumb, this is the most idiotic of endings — with son Adama telling everyone to live like savages. Hey bud, guess what, you’re not the Vice President any more. I half expected people to go say to his face “yeah, you’re right”…then start snickering behind his back and telling him to get stuffed. Luckily Baltar isn’t as thick-headed, suggesting he and Caprica will start some sort of farm.
