wow.
just wow.
Some Star Wars books are good.
Some Star Wars books are great
and then there is Annihilation, which redefines the word: Awesome.
From beginning to end, author Drew Karpyshyn, weaves a tale of intrigue and amazing action that just kept us turning page after page.
This book really could have simply been called the Hunt for the Ascendant Spear – instead of Annihilation, cause that’s what it’s all about. Well that, and the final reunion of Jedi Grand Master Satele Shan, her baby’s daddy and Theron Shan.
This of course, continues on the Lost Suns storyline from the Dark Horse comics series that premiered in 2011.
Instead of the typical three concurrent storylines merging into one approach of most Star Wars books, this mostly a one or two storyline book, making the action easier to follow and the chronology very fluid. We have Theron’s plotline – and then we get bit of what is going on in the Sith Empire. Yeaah we’re maybe a little shortchanged on the Sith bits, but it makes for a better story this way.
The amazing Theron and how he gets into and out of trouble with his brains and (non-Jedi) skills along is something to behold.
Easily the best Star Wars book we’ve read so far in 2013.
