Vote in the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge !! July 2, 2008

Back in March we first wrote about the Atom (no longer called Atom Films btw) Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge
 well the entry period is now over and it’s time to VOTE!

The official voting page is up at:

Unfortunately the ShowMeSciFi.com entry titled ‘Greedo’s Guide to Bounty Hunting‘ didn’t make the final cut. But we’re not sore loosers…no we’re not.

It doesn’t look like Atom in their infinite widom actually included any Fan mashups in the finalist though which kinda sucks because the orignal rules implied that they would. Does that mean that Atom sucks ?! (well maybe but just a little).

Voting ends on July 10th – we don’t have any particular favs (right now at least) though not everything in this contest is new is it?

For example the RvD2 Ryan vs Dorkman video is actually something we reviewed OVER A YEAR AGO when it first showed up on YouTube. Is it awesome? Sure it is but it’s not new.

Greedo is no doubt the most famous Rodian in the Galaxy (and likely the only Rodian that many know).

His appearance in Episode IV, was brief but memorable.

And of course with all of Lucas’ revisions, the question of who shot first is always there.

Soo we here at ShowMeSciFi.com decided to focus on Greedo for our Star Wars/Atom Films Fan Movie Challenge entry.

atom.pngAlong time ago…(before YouTube) AtomFilms was THE place to go for neat video clips.

One of the greatest things they ever had was the Star Wars Fan clips competition. Apparently (though I thought Atom went bankrupt years ago) they’re still around and the Star Wars fan film competition is back.

We’re entered the competition in the past (like 7 years ago) but we’re still on their mailing list :

You’re getting this email because you overfloweth with awesome and have, in the past, entered your fan movie in the official Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge.
The deadline for the next Fan Movie Challenge is MAY 27th. Make sure you submit your fan movie to AtomFilms by May 27 for a chance to be in the running for awards at the San Diego ComicCon in July.
