Looks like a special 25th anniversary edition of Blade Runner is in the works.

BEST PART? Scene RESHOOTS!!

We’re not talking about Director’s Cut here where all they do is take out the bogus voice over narration. We’re talking about NEW footage.

At this stage we know only about one of the reshot pieces. Joanna Cassidy who played Zhora, one of the movie’s “replicants,” or androids confirmed on a blog post that she’s done a reshoot.

ZHORA of course has the awesome scene where Decker (Harrison Ford) shoots her and she goes crashing through all the retail windows.

No word yet on whether Harrison Ford is reshooting scenes too..but here’s hoping he is (and that this time the movie shows him to be the REPLICANT we all know he is!).

Just in case you don’t remember the scene….here it is:

If this is genuinely true then they will inevitably sodomize dry and hard a revered classic, continuing the movie sci-fi trend for this decade. What will they “improve” next?

LEAVE MY CHILDHOOD DREAMS ALONE, DAMNIT. THANK YOU.

I think they should re-do it as a limited-animation cartoon, with Robin Williams doing all the voices– just to make sure they fuck it up completely. I wouldn’t want them to only fuck it up halfway, you know? So yeah, I agree with Benjamin– leave the thing alone.

Besides, if anything needs to be remade, it’s Star Wars. We all know that JarJar has GOT to go. I’ll take an extended Ewok techno remix over that JarJar nonsense (and Jake Lloyd’s “yippee”) ANY DAY.

As far as I heard the original Director’s Cut will be re-issued with this edition as part of a 4-disc set for the anniversary. I would be interested to see anything in the way of re-shoots, but I hear that much of this additional footage was original, just left out of even the Director’s Cut. I don’t know for sure, but I am excited about a new transfer of the DC. I don’t think, however, that a more explicit revelation of Decker’s replicant-hood would improve on the DC.

groan – The pkd book is better and has not been revised. The lesson that can learn’t here is to never ever buy films on dvd/ blueray / and any future disk format say pinkray and appleray and rent it instead.

Mr Ridley is laughing at you fans

Far too much hate. I’m looking forward to this considering all the stories I’ve heard about people messing with his final cut. This isn’t Lucas or Spielberg, folks. I have a feeling there will be no replacing of guns with walkie talkies and re-shot scenes of Decker shooting second.

There’s lots of inconsistencies in the scene where Zhora goes crashing through the glass windows. I don’t see Ridley screwing this film up.

Sorry, I don’t get the point of having geriatric actors come back for reshoots. Next thing you know, authors will be going back and “rewriting” their classic novels.

otherdave is right – these “limited edition” type things are always about making more money without having to do much work.

please no… leave it alone!
