Mara Jade Skywalker didn’t have to die at the hands of Darth Caedus.
It was a wasted empty death…
Lucas Licensing apparently allowed this disaster to happen and now we should call on them to reverse it. The Sith have the power to bring back the dead and so too then does the Force.
Whether it is Ben or Luke Skywalker or even someone else I don’t care. I just want Mara Jade back.
To that end we here at ShowMeSciFi have started a petition to Bring Back Mara Jade.
Please sign in and together we can be THE FORCE that will bring Mara back.

True enough, but to my mind I think that if you can use an alternate reality to “fix” things they’ll view that as a duct tape solution rather than fixing things right.
Putting it in Star Wars terms, “fixing” the EU would be like putting a bacta patch on a lighsaber dismemberment. And fixing the EU will never happen as long as King George is alive. Remember, Star Trek’s creator is already gone when they retconed the story in the recent movie.
For me personally, I fix my own EU in writing fan fiction.
I prefer a retcon, but insofar as an alternate reality is concerned the closest thing I am willing to accept is simply to pick a point in the established EU and just ignore everything after it. It isn’t really that unreasonable a thing to do and frankly I don’t know why they wouldn’t want to considering they could sell a pile of books going back over the same time frame with characters they’ve killed already. After all they did a damn fine job ignoring legions of cloned Emperor’s and World Devastators.
Yeah, I for one would pick the start of NJO and ignore everything after that.
I don’t know, at this point I’d just as soon see them start after the NJO because I can’t understand the Anakin fandom but that’s just me being spiteful lol.
Hey, technically speaking, starting after NJO could be construed as spitefulness on my part!
But face it, Jacen got weird and Jaina got bitchy in the NJO. I would rather see them become something similar to what they were at the end of YJK, so that means doing away with what happened in NJO.
As I said it’s just spite on my part. I prefer Jacen the way he was at the end of the NJO and frankly for all the people whining that he wasn’t a well written character I fail to see how Jaina was any better. Her character wasn’t used as anything but a potential lay as far as I could see. As I say I just don’t care for Anakin they wanted to turn him into another Luke Skywalker (as I understand they are doing with Ben now)and I don’t want another one of those.
They both sucked at the end of NJO. But then, I am nostalgic for the days of YJK. And besides, if you want a solution to Anakin, the answer is simple: rewrite the NJO, but kill him anyway!
Yeah, but I prefer the idea of a “Luke” archetype hero who isn’t afraid to shoot first as they were leaning towards at the end of the NJO. Anakin was another white knight, if that he always came across to me as an upstart “I’m the most powerful and heroic Jedi ever”…..says who exactly?
That’s much the same feeling I got over “Ben” Skywalker, he’s just sort of foisted on everyone and listed as being an up and coming supreme power. I prefer someone like even Jaina where due to backstory I can get the idea that they are naturally “gifted” but they still had to learn things the hard way. Take Mara Jade for example, initially listed as being as capable of swinging a lightsaber around being superhuman as Fluke Skywalker yet rarely bothered, personally I like that in much the same way I actually liked the borderline evil ends/means type mentallity that they were giving Jacen.
I’d be as willing to sign a “No more Luke Skywalker” petition as one to burn every copy of LotF in existence.
Hey, I’m back after two months. Somebody please bring Mara Jade Skywalker back. And while you’re at it, reboot the timeline from about the beginning of NJO onwards. They killed the franchise, as far as I’m concerned.
