There is a really neat discussion over at StarWars.com contrasting Star Wars and Harry Potter.

While i understand how you could draw comparisons….Luke the son of a dark lord and Harry with the dark lord…young kids..

It’s still a massive stretch

The Force isn’t magic…though it may seem magical. It’s all about midichlorians.

We find out about Luke’s DAD early on..and Luke’s only schooling is on Dagobah.

That said Harry Potter does have its place and I can certainly see why someone would want to show where Potter draws influences from Star Wars.

There are no midichlorians in Star Wars. Not proper Star Wars. Not the Star Wars that *counts*. Midichlorians exist only at the behest of a creator gone utterly senile. You’ll notice that only one film ever mentions them, and that’s the same film that thought Binks was a good idea. Two and three wisely kept away from both.

“Luminous beings are we, not this crude midichlorian bullshit!”
