invincible.jpgWe’ve known since at least November that Jaina would be on the cover of the final book of the Legacy of the Force series.

Now the first images of the actual book cover are available and it looks to us that she’s going to have a showdown with her brother Jacen – Darth Caedus.

That is a confrontation that is – Inevitable – maybe that should’ve been the name of the book. Then again maybe Invincible refers to Jacen/Caedus….

Invincible’s release date is set for May 13, 2008. Amazon is already taking pre-orders on this the final installment of the Legacy of the Force – it’s a hardcover so it’s more dough than the paperbacks. Amazon currently has a neat offer though, they’re starting at 34% off list price and if you pre-order now they’ll give you an extra 5% discount. Sure beat paying full price the day it comes out..but i wonder if they’ll actually ship it to arrive on May 13th..

Just finished the book and it fucking sucked. What a waste. I thought that stupid illusion shit wasn’t going to be in the book, but it fucking was. EVERY SINGLE BOOK the authors had it in there and Caedus fell for it every time. I mean come on authors, get a little imaginative. Your tiny brains couldn’t think of anything else to happen? Someone said it above that the series started out great, but then it got repetitive, then finally just sucked. At the end of the book, Denning had no clue how to kill off Caedus so he just made him a stupid person. Don’t worry, we won. nothing matters now, we won. WTF? And Luke…The authors make him unstopable…he could do anything. Why not make him fly like superman. He cpuld have killed sidious with one hand tied behind his back in his old age. I freakin hate luke now, and to think I always liked him.

And Tahiri. What a little bitch. I wished she would have just tripped over her feet and fell on her lightsaber. The whole series was a joke. You made your money delrey, be happy.

The only author that wrote Caedus well was Traviss. The other two did not know how to write him. Denning was good in the beginning of Invincible, then he got sloppy or didn’t care toward the end. He thought lets make Caedus incompetant and kill him off.

And what the hell does Invincible mean? Must mean Luke. That guy blocks Caedus’s visions, force illusions, flying around in space firing lasers out of his eyes, arms , and ass. FU Luke. And how about Jaina learning the shatterpoint technique in 2 hours. Huh? Didn’t know she was unstoppable too.

Oh, I know. They will bring back Zekk in a later series. Im making a bold prediction now people. Like what the hell happened to him? Denning I thought you were good but you suck.

At the end of the book it said this ends the Drath Caedus reign. Huh? he never had a reign. He was trying for one and he killed like six people in the process.

I have never been so disappointed in a ending ever. So much potential flushed down the toilet.

didn’t the end make you sick when you have the good guys win again. I was sick. I just skimmed the rest of the book when they killed off Caedus. Did not even want to read the rest but skimmed to see what happened. and it all sucked. Daala? What? Nobody even knows who she is and if they do, she was kinds bad trying to take over. I might actually be done reading books after this series. And lastly, why even write the Korriban sith into the series. And Ship. they dropped the ball big time.

I was not that big of a fan of jacen solo or (Caedus) BUT jaina killing him off like that was to say the least dissapointing! I think it was to early to kill caedus much the same way i thought the way they killed anakin solo. They build these awesome characters and kill them of way to early!

i think some of you guys are over analyzing the last book a little bit. We can’t deny the fact that the series as a whole was definitely good. as good as the NJO series? maybe not. But i guess the authors put themselves in the position to wrap everything up in the last book, which probably wasn’t the best thing. But still, we’ve read “nine” of the books so they obviously didn’t suck as whole, we just had different ideas for the ending. Yeah it sux when jacen dies but jaina still pimped hard. He was already injured and she caught him off guard. And haven’t you noticed the common trend when jedi face off against sith? The jedi in the end, prevail. Its the way it is because every sith ultimately brings their own destruction through their actions, while the jedi stay focused and controlled. The sith are awsome but I knew jacen wasn’t going to live for long when i started this book

Why can’t they go back to having a New Republic instead of the GA it was mutch better then.

This series on the whole was not good, it’s far far more difficult to kill a hero than a villain so they did a pathetic rehash of the Anakin Skywalker story in order to make him a villain so that they could kill him. You could take out the other Sith, ship, Alema Rar, the Mandalorians, made Tahiri or someone else turn instead and this series would have been looked at for the pathetic trilogy it was. Also, frankly I still believe this was just a pathetic outing to cash in; Del Rey’s current license runs out at the end of this year everything that is already on the block (Traviss’ Mandalorian book etc) is all that there is until Lucasbooks decides what to do.

As for Luke Skywalker being the most powerful force user in the galaxy I’m getting really tired of that. Yoda was the eldest/most powerful yet he managed that over 900 years. Luke was largely self taught from a late age (which is mentioned as a fault many many times) and is in his eighties. Jacen had learned from childhood in addition to intentionally seeking out new techniques that nobody else amongst the established jedi knew (I might add that Denning himself wrote that in.)
As for this illusion bull that Jacen/Caedus falls for constantly, I find that interesting given that amongst other things it is specifically mentioned that the (Falanaasi?) who are presumably the best at force illusions named Jacen as “their second worst student,” yet he is apparently a novice compared to Grand Master Superman.

And since mliscky posted thrice, so will I. Not only did these Del Rey stooges (screw you Denning you sell out) lower the pool of characters for others to write about, with their wrapping everything up in a nice neat package at the end there isn’t even a good atmosphere to write about either. No multiple warring factions, no real enemies to speak of. As for Jaina, if they wanted a damn female hero then they should have built her up not just kill everyone else around her so there were few other choices; oh well maybe after soaking in bacta for awhile will heal up all those little lightsaber burns on her thighs she gives herself when she needs to feel.
