Hard to believe it has been 10 years since the Star Wars fan flick Troops first hit the net.
Unbelievable in fact (but it’s true).
Troops predates YouTube and HD and alot of the fancy easy to use software we’ve all got in 2008. Yet Troops still really stands up well as one of the greatest Star Wars Fan Flicks ever made.
In celebration of the 10 year anniversary Kevin Rubio spoke with the site where it first appeared – TheForce.net in a really great interview.
Back then the standard speed for the “net” was a 28k or 56k line. Apple had just released Quicktime 2.0 And TROOPS took over 24 hours to download. And the majority of people thought “the net” was a bad Sandra Bullock movie. Yet (thankfully) people still wanted to see it. It was a first, and while not wholly original, it was a new and original way of distribution.
Thanks Kevin – and May The Force Be With You!

Please let me know if you’re looking for a writer for your blog.
You have some really great posts and I believe I would be a good
asset. If you ever want to take some of the load off,
I’d absolutely love to write some content for your blog in exchange for a link back to mine.
Please blast me an e-mail if interested. Regards!
When I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I get 4 emails with the exact same comment. Is there any way you possibly can get rid of me from that service? Thanks!
