I don’t know what Ron Moore is on..but these last few episodes of Battlestar Galactica have not been good. Episode 4×5 was slow and I hate to say it, but it was BORING (except for the final scene).
The show dragged on and on with little action, convoluted extraneous dialogue and long pauses of nothing.
The Demetrius stuff was kinda neat, but it wasn’t worth 45 minutes of my time…the Baltar Tyrol thing was neat but was waaaaay too long and boring.
Battlestar Galactica was a great show because of the solid plot, acting and deep drama. The drama only exists at the far fringes of Season 4 so far.
And so far the first few episodes of Season 4 surely rank as among the worst Battlestar Galactica episodes of all time. True fans will continue to watch (like us)..but newer fans that got caught in the initial Season 4 tidewave are now probably all long gone, waiting for something to happen that never does.

I respectfully disagree – I actually think these have been some of the very best episodes they’ve ever done. The acting is phenomenal.
They packed a ton of revelations in the last few minutes of Season 3 and the first of Season 4, and it’s taking time to see how those play out – among the humans and the cylons.
– Athelstane
I agree with Athelstane. I like the deep, dialog driven episodes that build up to huge action. The action is much more meaningful after the build up.
Of course, I know that I’m an exception when it comes to this (most of my friends that watch BSG agree with your take).
All of that being said, I do respect your opinion and see where it is coming from. Keep up the good work on the episode reviews … I enjoy reading them each week and have this blog on my Google RSS feeds.
The story of episodes 4 and 5 was sound, but the pacing was wrong. The writers should have cut this into a single episode.
I don’t know why this version of BSG has become so popular. I mean really, who’s the Cylon going to be this week? Lame! Saving money on costumes are we? Look at the Borg Michael Westmore created for Star Trek:TNG! Starbuck’s a woman? Starbuck and Apollo were buddies not lovers! How did a show that was SO boring stay on for as long as it did? I remember watching the REAL BSG back in the 70’s and it was FUN to watch. The show that’s on now is dry, slowing moving and painful to watch. I do have to admit the sfx are great, but it takes more than that to keep people interested. Hell, Stargate:SG-1 is a better show that the mess that is now BSG.
