The first of the new Dark Horse comics tie-ins for the new Star Wars Clone Wars animated series is out and it looks pretty darn good.
The cover art is done the director of the Clone Wars animated movie – and the plot is by a writer for the regular series.

The first issue deals with Ashoka’s people and its a great start..reasonable action, decent pacing and solid artwork all complement this issue.

NO It’s not Star Wars Legacy quality – but it is solid Star Wars and at least as good as the actual animated series itself.

Well friends the McDonalds Star Wars Clone Wars Happy Meal toy promotion is now over …but we’ve still got a few posts that we’re planning about them..

One thing we didn’t get the chance to do was to go to McDonalds in full Star Wars costume – but one smart dude dude – he went drive-thru as Vader.

Surprisingly the McDonald’s staff at the cash and pickup window didn’t say anything and just acted as if nothing was out of the ordinary…

Star Wars Clone Wars – Better the second time around August 26, 2008

Star Wars The Clone Wars is a better movie the second time around…
The first time we watched Clone Wars to be honest we were underwhelmed (for alot of reasons). Clone Wars is not the best Star Wars movie but that doesn’t mean it’s that bad either.
The battle scenes are all awesome. The basic story – is simple enough but it works.
The animation is of course what set this apart from all other Star Wars movies. The second time around it was only the ‘human’ character’s hair (which doesn’t move) that kinda/sorta bothered me. The animating actors total lack of real emotion is also somewhat of a problem..

Except for Ahsoka Tano…who is the light and life of this movie. Asoka is awesome and wouldn’t have worked as well as a real actress. Little things like Sky-boy and R2-oey..she’s just so cutesy..but not in a Jar Jar Binks (must die) sorta way.

No, I’m not likely to pay to see Clone Wars in the theatre for a third time (which will be the first Star Wars movie ever that I haven’t paid to see at least 5 times). But I’m glad i saw it at least twice.

As a TV show, this concept/series will work and I’m looking forward to seeing on my small screen soon.

Starting Friday, McDonalds will have a special Star Wars Clone Wars Happy Meal (for kids).

The toys aren’t just Clone Wars but are the entire 7 movie story arc worth of characters as bobble heads attached to their ships.

Star Wars Clone Wars Shows off Clone Individuality July 8, 2008

A clone is supposed to be an exact copy of another thing. The clones in the upcoming Star Wars Clone Wars movie won’t be exact copies according to Lucasfilm. Instead they’re going to show off some of the individuality that these genetically bread killing machines aparently develop as they interact with the Jedi over the course of time.

Not a bad idea actually…and it sure adds the potential for alot of new character diversity and development.

Check out the full video on this from Lucasfilm :

BIG BIG BIG BIG NEWS FROM LUCAS!!

The new Star Wars Clone Wars animated series will first be a FEATURE FILM that will hit theaters on Friday August 15th!! (let the lineups for the midnight showings begin!!!)

We’ve been writing about the new Star Wars Clone Wars for months…always thinking that it would just be a new TV series on the Cartoon Network so this news comes as a very very NICE SURPRISE.

“I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell,” said George Lucas, executive producer of Star Wars: The Clone Wars in a statement. “I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward.”

Then in the fall the TV series itself will start with apparently some 30 episodes already in the can. It also looks like Anakin’s new apprentice Ahsoka Tano. will play a major role too.

Are we excited? YOU BET WE ARE!

Ahsoka Tano – Anakin Gets a Padawan in new Star Wars Clone wars series January 30, 2008

In a major new canon development in the Star Wars Universe – Lucas is giving Anakin Skywalker a Padawan of his own.

Her name is Ahsoka Tano.

First of all I think it’s great that Anakin gets a Padawan. It’s something that has been missing from the young Darth Vader’s story for the last 30 years.

While it will be interesting to see the interaction of Tano and Skywalker in the new Clone Wars series.

What will also be interesting to see is how Lucas expands the character in other timelines…for example: Is she killed by Vader or Clone Troopers in the Jedi Purge?
