Multiple news sites are confirming that discussions are now underway for a remake of the 60’s cult classic SciFi flic Barbarella starring Jane Fonda.
Though Fonda is not likely to reprise her starring role (and hey who would really want to see her in this sort of role now anyway?!) Dino De Laurentiis( the original producer) is the person spearheading the effort.
First Battlestar Galactica get re-imagined, Flash Gordon is on the way now Barbarella. Here’s hoping the new version is better than the first version.

You diss’d Jane Fonda!
man, those chattering dolls always gave me the creeps!
so what’re the odds on duran duran doing the theme tune then?
Dino DeLaurentis should really do something more interesting, like putting back about 12 hours of the original Dune film, and selling it in four or five DVDs. Now that would be worth it, as it was the best version, though choppy with all the editing to get it down to four hours.
Who would you imagine in the lead role?

I keep picturing Pamela Anderson or Eva Green as Barbarella in a “tame” R rated or Unrated International Version of the film that shows a lot of nudity and has sex shown in a manner that would make the Original Barbarella TAME. It would be a film that would come close to soft porn without actually showing REAL sex. Mark my words I predict such a BOLD sexual reimagining of Barbarella coming in 2008!!!

i am sick of remakes. just goes to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that there is no talent left or imagination left in the film industry. if the Soviets were still around i’d put in a respectful request for them to nuke Hollywood during their ‘first strike.’
We here at The800lbGorilla hope to see Jane return in the remake. After all, she was just fab in her return roll as “Jane Fonda… Anti-War Activist”. Although we were a little disappointed that she didn’t travel to Iraq and pretend to shoot down American aircraft while giving aid and comfort to the enemy like she did in the orginal version.
My God! I was like 13 or something and a scienc fiction fan when I saw Barbarella – what I freakin cruch I had on Jane Fonda – and to this day. I don’t even remember the plot(maybe there wasn’t one…..)
Why a remake though, I don’t know………..
