Mara Jade Skywalker didn’t have to die at the hands of Darth Caedus.

It was a wasted empty death…

Lucas Licensing apparently allowed this disaster to happen and now we should call on them to reverse it. The Sith have the power to bring back the dead and so too then does the Force.

Whether it is Ben or Luke Skywalker or even someone else I don’t care. I just want Mara Jade back.

To that end we here at ShowMeSciFi have started a petition to Bring Back Mara Jade.

Please sign in and together we can be THE FORCE that will bring Mara back.

I’ve tried to find sales information for this series which was always kind of annoying to find over the last two years but I couldn’t find thing one. Personally though I can’t imagine that their post RotJ timeline is doing as well anymore (based on purely circumstantial observances admittedly)as I rarely see this new series put out on the “best seller” or even the “New” shelves at the few local bookstores I still go to.
The only ones that are still put out for view are the Pre clone wars and Old Republic novels which personally I found pretty dull when I was still buying them.

Eh, they’ll never admit when they might be losing readers. To them, as long as there are SOME idiots still out there buying their crap, it’s good enough for them.

W@nkers.

That’s true as far as DelRey is concerned, however despite Lucas’ grandstanding about how little he cares (ignoring the fact that 3/4 of “his” content was thought of by others) about the actual story in the EU however it’s a certainty that there is one thing about the EU novels he does care about…and if DelRey starts to fail on their delivery of it you can bet him breathing down their neck will make them sweat a little bit so they can’t completely ignore falling sales.

Yeah probably. By the way, I was in a bookstore today for a fortnightly D&D session (which I’m doing mostly so I can learn how to play the SW variant), and I found the latest FOTJ book, Vortex, and flipped through it.

Things have definitely NOT improved, and my blood pressure raised because of it.

Seriously, the Expanded Universe is totally FUBAR, no matter how we spin it. I’m suggesting that they reboot it like Abrams did to the Trek universe, but now I have doubts as to whether that will be the solution. It may be irredeemably f_cked.

I really don’t expect them to do anything to fix it, if anything all that they will do is shift all focus to some random time period and “start over.” Incidentally much of the only reason I read them for all those years was I liked the overarching story through all of them and what raises my blood pressure is the number of fricking Warhammer novels on my shelf I’ve accumulated over the last two years for the sake of having something to read…

Like most others, I was kind of relieved when I found out that Karen Traviss was not writing SW anymore.

Unfortunately, I am also a huge fan of Halo and Gears of War, and when I found out that she was writing for them, I nearly threw up.

Not only did this woman kill off one of our beloved characters, but she is taking over the other universes I like. AND she is getting the jobs that I want!

Somebody shoot me, please!

Huzzah, I finally got a response after two years of intermitant emails to various Delrey flunkies.

“Please stop messaging us about this topic.”

Mara fans unite!
Our beloved heroine and kick ass assassin is back in Choices Of One! And it has all of the classic trio written just as they are in the OT. Han and Chewie are back in form! Course, it does have alot to do with Zahn at the helm. I only wish he gets to do a Skywalker family novel set after NJO like he’s planning to.

It sounds nice but unfortuneately I just can’t get into it. I’m afraid they killed it for me with LotF. How many books have their been since that series ended now?

Madman007's avatar 10. Madman007 - August 13, 2011

Yes, there have been many books with the FOTF series, of which I have read none. The whole plot is outrageous and, oh look, ANOTHER Sith conflict! But, I have been reading reviews of Choices from readers who’ve said that the original feel of the SW Classic trilogy is back in this. I mean, it IS written by Timothy Kriffin’ Zahn: the Father of the EU. Why is it only him who knows what SW is about? I may have to lift my own ban of Del Rey books for just this one. But, to each their own.
