We’ve known since at least November that Jaina would be on the cover of the final book of the Legacy of the Force series.
Now the first images of the actual book cover are available and it looks to us that she’s going to have a showdown with her brother Jacen – Darth Caedus.
That is a confrontation that is – Inevitable – maybe that should’ve been the name of the book. Then again maybe Invincible refers to Jacen/Caedus….
Invincible’s release date is set for May 13, 2008. Amazon is already taking pre-orders on this the final installment of the Legacy of the Force – it’s a hardcover so it’s more dough than the paperbacks. Amazon currently has a neat offer though, they’re starting at 34% off list price and if you pre-order now they’ll give you an extra 5% discount. Sure beat paying full price the day it comes out..but i wonder if they’ll actually ship it to arrive on May 13th..

If I wanted to read comic books I would read comic books, not novels. Comics are a visual medium with the story being secondary, I’m sorry but we are entitled to our opinions; mine being that trying to mash together a purely story driven written medium with a visual one is a poor idea. “he was the fallanassis woorst student by the way. jacen was the second worst” That would be exactly what I said. Which would be the point, why is it that someone who is apparently better at the whole illusion business constantly fooled by someone who is worse at it than them?
I wouldn’t exactly call him a badass since he didn’t seize power, he played a political game then proceeded to lose every fight he was in. In the end he lost to his sister who was pointed out to be the weaker of the two several times in both the NJO and this one as well.
As for those of us who “dont like star wars books” why would we post about not liking what they did with them, it’s not my fault I don’t like what happens if the authors potentially ruin a good franchise with poor writing and cobbled together storylines. As for Jacen getting “cocky” and falling, I was fine with that when it looked like he was going to be more of a “beneficent dictator” that was gradually changing than a cartoonish textbook evil villain (the only thing he didn’t do was tie someone to the railroad tracks and play with his big handlebar mustache); if they were going to do that they could have just went whole hog with the comic books and resurrected the Emperor or something.
As for Del Rey, whether their license is going to be renewed or not is a moot point given that when these novels were planned and they started writing them they still had over two years left on their current one. I would be shocked SHOCKED I say, if I was told that Del Rey would take a sure payout over a potential future one at the time.
Just because some people are super fans who may love anything and everything so long as it says “Star Wars” on it doesn’t mean that people aren’t allowed to be a little more discriminating, especially where novelizations are concerned.
As for the age thing I personally don’t really care about that since it’s been mentioned numerous times that people live into their hundreds, such as Palleon who was what, 120 years old? That being the case even if they were eighty that wouldn’t be that big of a deal to me.
