Star Trek : The Experience to Close? May 7, 2008

I was just at Star Trek The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton last week. I go each and every time I’m in Las Vegas (about 4 times a year).

The last few times i just go to the store and buy something (more on that in another post) and I always eat at Quarks and always get Klingon Blood Ale (not the wine which sucks).

Klingon Encounter is an experience that now is a bit dated..the screen isn’t great but it’s still fun. Borg 4D is still awesome.

So why would they close it?

Apparently the event operator and the hotel have a contract that expires soon and they haven’t yet renewed it.

Star Trek The Experience is something that MUST NEVER DIE…it should be refreshed from time to time, but it is by far and away my personal salvation in Las Vegas..and I know that i’m not alone. I’ve never been to Quark’s and seen it empty. I always run into fellow fans and always end up in a conversation about an episode that is on the screen.

There is no other place like it on Earth – or even Vegas.

contact CBS and let them know you want it to stay open! They are in negotiations with the Hilton and Cedar Fair RIGHT NOW!

I agree completely. Quarks is our home away from home when in Vegas. Quark’s and The Experience are the reason we aim to stay at the Hilton when visiting Vegas (we’ll make 3 trips this year when all told.) It will absolutely break my heart if they decide to remove this fantastic, original place. Even non Star Trek fans are bound to have a blast – where else can you sip on a drink that bubbles and smokes? And the drinks – let me tell you – I am a little picky when it comes to my beverages and Quark’s is my favorite place to drink EVER! And the food – my God the food. The Flaming Ribs of Targ is by far my favorite…the quality was definitely on par with some of my favorite restaurants…just fan-frickin-tastic. Plus, what a fun environment! Where else can you mess with a Klingon, Borg, etc. My husband overheard a gal flirting with the Borg character and she asked him if he was fully functional in that “downstairs way”. He quipped back, “Interface would be successful” in his robotic tones. What fun! The actors who portray the various characters are fabulous – so much fun to interact with. Churrok the Klingon is a trip. They area great cast – the whole thing is so much fun – my favorite part of Vegas BY FAR.
Please, SAVE STAR TREK THE EXPERIENCE!

FYI… They just got new prints of the Klingon Encounter film. I hope this, and the upcoming new Star Trek movie, means they will stick around.
