Torchwood Gets Torched by BBC with Only 5 new episodes for 2009 June 3, 2008

We’re not big Torchwood fans here at ShowMeSciFi.com but it is a show that can grow on you…that is if it were allowed to grow.
The braniacs that run BBC have somehow decided that for season 3 of Torchwood there will only be five episodes.
What’s the POINT?! And how do these people get jobs working with SciFi? They obviously just want to taunt fans and drive audience interest down.

You have to realise just how unusual a 13 episode series is for UK television these days. Five to eight episodes is the norm per year. When the news of the return of Doctor Who first broke five years ago, everyone was expecting it to run for eight weeks on BBC Two, the fact that it ran for 13 weeks on BBC One was unprecedented.
Agreed with John, but a traditional series is 6. I wonder if they’re just trying to make sure Moffitt isn’t over-stretched (at least, I assume he’ll have some/lot control over it as well)
Russell T. Davies only ever wrote one episodeTorchwood, as the series had Chris Chibnal as its Show-Runner, and basically only had a rubber stamp for the rest of the series. I don’t think that Steven Moffat would be any different, so he will be concentrating all his efforts on Doctor Who.
Sorry guys but I’m not a fan of Torchwood so I wouldn’t mind seeing it canceled.
