We’ve known since early this year that Dr. Carson Beckett would be leaving Stargate Atlantis. We also know that Beckett is being replaced by actress Jewel Staite from Firefly
Though in North America Stargate Atlantis Season 3 is currently on hiatus until April, Stargate’s producers have already filmed the rest of the season –
In fact if you don’t want to wait until April (or later) to see the most important moment of Season 3, you don’t have too.

its not MGM that is cancelling SG1 its SciFi. MGM didn’t find a a network that what to pick it up.

Brian, you’re full of ****. MGM weren’t the problem, SciFi were. They cited a clause in their contract that stopped anyone else taking SG-1 over after them. MGM didn’t help with their increased payment demands but SciFi dumped SG-1 for WRESTLING. So much for sci-fi… And goodbye to the channel, I dumped them and I urge everyone else with the choice to dump them too and get your Atlantis/BSG fix online until they get the message… And every other “SciFi” show.
