Have you ever wanted to learn how to draw Yoda?

StarWars.com has a little tutorial up on their site now – for the clone wars animated version of yoda.

It looks easy enough and with a steady hand you should be able to do it (we could). But it’s only one pose…maybe next time they’ll add him in with a lightsaber.

Want to try it yourself? Check it out.

Sputnik – How Science Fueled SciFi Dreams and Failed October 4, 2007

It was 50 years ago that Sputnik hit the Earth’s outer atmosphere and became the first man made object orbit the Earth.

Yes it kicked off the Space race.
Yes it fueled that fantasies of countless science fiction fans

But the legacy of Sputnik was that unmanned robotic satellites lead the way – its the same today 50 years later.

50 years ago I doubt that there were few people that didn’t think humans would now be living in Space. Beyond the 8 humans on the International Space Station – that’s just not happening.

Sputnik made us think that we could escape the bounds of the Earth and fly above it. Reality is we can’t because we can’t afford it.

What Sputnik represents is the great antoganist – there is no such thing today and hasn’t been for far too long in the space game. Without an antagonist and a race of some sort SciFi dreams will never leave up to science reality.

Bionic Woman 1×2 Paradise Lost – October 4, 2007

Last weeks Bionic Woman Pilot was a great episode – this weeks episode – Paradise Lost – not so much.

The show was weak, trite and contrived and for whatever reason had more commercials than actually air time.

There was little action here that was dramatic and the show just plodded along with little fealing and no real plot that wasn’t totally obvious.

The only interesting side note on this show was when Jamie (Michelle Ryan) goes into the house in Paradise where she here’s something and there on the TV is Battlestar Galactica.

I hope the producers kick this show up a notch with real plot and better acting soon..otherwise this show will have a very short life.

Battlestar Galactica Razor Flashbacks Airing During Flash Gordon October 3, 2007

How do you get real SciFi fans to watch THE WORST SCIFI SHOW ON TV? (that would be Flash Gordon)…you tease them with little bits of the most anticipated SciFi TV event – the November release of the two hour telemovie Battlestar Galactica Razor.

Why would ANYONE watch Flash Gordon otherwise? I can’t imagine it being extended beyond the 22 episodes that apparently have already been ordered.

Back to the flashbacks…these are the same type of things that SciFi did last years with the Resistance webisodes…we’ve been hearing about them for a little while now but now we know where they will first appear.

If you haven’t read about Razor – check out this earlier post on ShowMeSciFi.com with the teaser trailer.

Star Trek’s George Takei Gets His Own Asteroid October 2, 2007

As the helmsman of the Starship Enteprise, Mr Sulu flew past many asteroids.

Now, George Takei (the actor who played Sulu) is getting an actual bona fide asteroid named after him.

WOW.

Last week the Committee on Small Body Nomenclature of the International Astronomical Union approved the name “7307 Takei” for the asteroid previously labeled “1994 GT9.” The Takei reference will be used in the scientific community to identify this minor body from now on, presumably forever.

Asteroid 7307 Takei is approximately 5 miles in diameter, located in an orbit ranging between 2.5 and 3.0 AUs from the Sun in the mid-solar system asteroid belt (an AU is the distance from the Sun to the Earth).

“I am honored, indeed transported to the galaxies, to know that my name has been assigned to an astronomical object in our solar system,” Takei told STARTREK.COM. “I am yet to come down to Earth.”

The Republic, Mandalorians, Zayne Carrick and Lucien all come face to face in this issue (the situation was setup in issue #19)

Finally after 20 issues Master Lucien is in the same room as Zayne who he has been hunting the whole time ..and what does Lucien do?

Whack him with his lightsaber of course.

And finally 7 issues after he first gets his fancy cortosis arm things (which he got in issue # 13 ) Zayne uses them for what they were intended. Lucien strikes and Zayne stops him with his forearms…AWESOME

What is Jarael’s secret? I don’t know but I’m curious – and that’s a good thing. KOTOR has emerged from the depths and is now a legitimately good and consistent series.
