J J Abrams is so keen on having his vision of Star Trek – 90210’ish that he’s cut Klingon from the movie.
Yup that’s right. A classic era trek film where there is no spoken Klingon.
It’s total FRAKKIN BS.
“We actually had a sequence that ended up getting cut from the movie that took place on Rura Penthe, in a Klingon prison,” co-writer Alex Kurtzman told SCI FI Wire, explaining the deletion. “And there was definitely Klingon spoken in the movie, and it ended up getting cut.”
So while this new movie might look slick, by cutting out the Klingon this new film is cutting out the Warrior heart of the Star Trek Universe.
If they end up making Star Trek XII let’s sure hope it’s a full on Klingon Federation war!

Well, if the lack of Klingons for just the first movie brings in a large, new fanbase, I am open to the idea. This would show Universal that there is money if they continue to make more star trek movies.
the early Klingons were dorky looking anyways.
As someone who has watched every movie and every episode of Star Trek there is I don’t really see what the big deal is. Not every movie or episode of Star Trek has Klingons in it I don’t see why this movie needs to. I think people are more upset by the fact that they may have been cut from the movie then the fact that they are not in the movie.
As long as it is actually a *good* movie I’m excited. Lately ST has been pretty weak both on TV and film. I just hope I’m not disappointed yet again.
Lack of spoken Klingon has no real effect on the movie itself, or my enjoyment of the film.
I certainly didn’t throw a tantrum whenever there was a Next Generation episode that didn’t involve Geordi opening up Data’s shell to fiddle with his internal components.
The idea that a lack of spoken Klingon in the new film cuts the heart out is a little silly.
I don’t mind the lack of Klingons, but a Gorn had better make an appearance!
it will probably have the regular Klingon greet.
i am still very skeptical about this star trek, i won’t go once it’s out i’ll probably wait a week, till one of my most geeky star trek fan friend goes there in his suit.
Ha ha ha, Star Trek nerds throwing toys out of the pram. Start Trek films are crap anyway, the whole thing is dated and well past it’s sell by date… on emore to miss 🙂
So why are you here and why bother to comment?
I would have preferred a movie about a new ship and crew. This movie isn’t really that exciting for me. I want to hear stories from other ships in the Federation from Kirk’s era.
I saw another interview with JJ that said the prison scene was cut because it was the one scene that consistently confused test audiences.
I’m just a bit more worried about the fact that there do appear to be Romulans in this movie which no one even saw until balance of terror. And wasn’t the Enterprise built in space?
