Time to get excited Star Trek XI fans.
Looks like there is an UNDER CONSTRUCTION site for Star Trek XI’s NCC-1701.
The site? Why it’s of course — what else would it be?
There are four cameras of the shipyard (i’m still hoping it’s Utopia Planetia) showing different stuff under construction..trick is you have to bring each camera into focus which by changing the frequency.
Sure you could try and figure it out yourself but why bother? Here are the frequencies:
camera 1 frequency of 555 (99.1%)
camera 2 frequency 120 (99.5%)
camera 4 frequency 289 (100% )
Now Camera 3 is the money shot! It only comes up every so often and it’s a pic of the interior of the new Star Trek XI NCC-1701 interior!!!
It looks ALOT like a TNG interior to me…i wonder if they’ll decide to put in a holodeck too..

Star Trek XI : Shatner Out Because Kirk is Dead January 21, 2008

Among all the excitement of the new Star Trek XI movie there is a major controversy.
William ‘Bill’ Shatner a.ka. Captain James Tiberius Kirk has been SHAFTED by the producers of Star Trek XI and will not be making an appearance.
Leonard Nimoy (SPOCK) is in it, but apparently Shatner isn’t good enough for J.J. Abrams.
“I think they’re coming toward the end (of shooting, so) they’ve got another three weeks to hire me,” Shatner joked at the opening of the traveling exhibit Star Trek: The Tour in a recent interview with USAtoday. “No, I don’t think you’ll be seeing me, unfortunately. I don’t know the reason why.”
Apparently the reason why is because Kirk died in Star Trek : Generations.
WHAT A LAME EXCUSE. Spock died at the end of Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan – he came back. Why not Shatner’s Kirk?
No i think the reason is because Shatner is such a giant in the Star Trek world that his appearance in Star Trek XI would overshadow all the others in the recast classic roles.
Want Shatner’s Kirk back? You’re not alone. Go check out BringBackKirk.com for a group that has got the right idea. It’s time for Kirk to Return. J.J. Abrams may think he’s some kind of hotshot director but without Shatner something will be missing from Star Trek XI.

Forget about paying down good money to see Cloverfield just to see the Star Trek XI trailer..multiple copies are now online (one linked below)..
Oh and no need for the early fan trailer anymore either (though i bet a few will be made based on the real thing).
The trailer – is all about construction and ends with the words UNDER CONSTRUCTION. The NCC 1701 Enterprise looks wicked and they’ve refreshed the Starfleet Logo itself too.
Anyways enough of me..here’s the trailer..

An early first look at the Star Trek XI Enterprise is out today over on the Moviephone site (linked through the pic above).
Looks like a typical NCC-1701 ..though if you look close the forward tips of the warp nascells look like big turbines..something like you’d see on an Airbus A340.
It also looks like there is alot of scaffolding so she’s clearly in space doc of some sort (Utopia Planetia maybe?)
The first ‘real’ look of course comes on Jan 18th in the preview trailer showing ahead of Cloverfield.

Usually at the end of the year you throw out an old calendar.
BUT..if you were the owner of a 2007 Star Trek Ships of the Line Calendar you probably shouldn’t. You see on both eBay and on Amazon a 2007 calendar (yes it is 2008 now) is going for…$$ .
On Amazon the calendars are going for…get this a minimum of $123.86.
Check it out here:
Star Trek Ships of the Line 2007
Over an eBay there is a similar thing though a little bit cheaper. One seller has an auction for the same calendar starting at $50 with a Buy it NOw of $100.

French mathematician Urbain Jean Joseph Le Verrier claimed on this date in 1860 the discovery of the planet Vulcan. Vulcan was supposed to inhabit the orbit between Mercury and the Sun and was not the home of Logic.
As it turns out Logic which is what let Le Verrier to deduce the existence of Vulcan was flawed as no such planet exists in the orbit he surmised.
To his credit though Le Verrier did ‘discover’ another planet…Neptune.

If you think it’s been awhile since you’ve since a Star Trek Titan book review on ShowMeSciFi.com you’d be right. The last time a new Star Trek Titan book came out was late 2005. We reviewed the three previous Star Trek Titan books (Taking Wing, The Red King and Orion’s Hounds ) in 2006.
This latest book, the fourth in the series was one we had been waiting for, for some time…Titan is the series that chronicles the continuing adventures of Captain Wil Riker and his Luna class star ship Titan on deep space exploration missions. The crew is mostly non-human which makes for a real interesting mix.
Unfortunately The Sword of Damocles isn’t a good book at all as it doesn’t take advantage of the Titan or her diverse crew (including Riker) well at all. Much of the book is focussed on one character a Bajoran and an poorly constructed time paradox plot.
While time related stories are often difficult to navigate, the publisher has made this one infinately more difficult to navigate by not properly indicating scene changes/time changes as chapter or section headings. It’s a publishing 101 issue and it significantly detracts from this work.
The author – Geoffrey Thorne is likely the worst Star Trek author we have ever read as he makes little sense and does little to connect with the Titan canon that has been developing over the course of the previous four books.
Of the four books thus far, this one was by far and away the worst of the bunch and one of the least readable Star Trek books we’ve seen in years.
Titan is a valuable and excellent concept. We can only hope that the power that be get their act together and publish this title more often and with better authors.

As StarTrek.com has apparently fired all of its staff..i’m left to wonder what will happen to The Trek Life cartoon series they run on the site. There has been no official word yet…but maybe the braniacs at CBS figure they can just re-run everything ad infinitum.

Alright so Eric Bana will be one of the bad guys in Star Trek XI.
We don’t know yet whether he’ll be a human/Romulan/Klingon/ or some other species.
We don’t know if there will be another bad guy in the movie either.
We do know that it’s classic era stuff – so Klingon or Romulan would still be my guesses..
But we’ll have to wait some time yet till we know for sure. Star Trek XI doesn’t hit the theaters till Xmas 2008.
Oh and let’s not forget …they still have to cast KIRK!
