The last 17 issues of Legacy have been awesome and issue number 18 continues that tradition.
We finally learn of the link between Darth Krayt and Darth Caedus – the critical link that connects Star Wars Legacy with the New Jedi Order and Legacy of the Force books.
It’s a fine link – essentially Vergere – the same Jedi creation that changed Jacen Solo did the same kind of thing to Hett/Darth Krayt while onboard a Vong Cruiser.
The Sith that are hiding out on Korriban in the time of Legacy of the Force (that Lumiya and Alema Rar knew) are the same as Krayt’s Sith…hurray! Anything else likely would not have made sense and would have messed up continuity and canon.
Beyond the end of Darth Krayt explaining how he came into being..we see the Vong’s Embrace of Pain (yup that sucker) but as opposed to Jacen Solo (and maybe Ben
Skywalker too?) it doesn’t mess up Cade…too much (yet).
Perhaps most importantly though…Cade sees a vision of his Dad – Kol Skywalker – and rejects the Sith – fighting his way out and killing (or so we think) the Sith hottie herself..Darth Talon (yeah her…the awesome Twi’lek that Cade hooks up with and the same that is on the cover of issue zero of Legacy.
Again the artwork is sheer brilliance and is the best of any current ongoing Star Wars series.
It will be VERY interesting to see what happens next as Cade’s MAMA and Cade’s ole bounty hunting pals help him out to escape the clutches of Krayt…
Oh and what about Roan Fel and his daughter?
Lots of stuff for us to get caught up on…and then of course there is Vector….man oh man…if Legacy was a weekly series i don’t think it would be enough!!
Is Darth Talon really dead? We’ll see…one thing is for sure, i don’t think she’ll easily be forgotten.

Without spelling it out for you..here’s EW’s take below…(and hey go pick up a copy of Entertainment Weekly if you want a full size version). The big question about who is the final cylon is still the big question….

Luke Skywalker and Mara Jade.
When it actually first happened I remember my shock..now years later when this special edition hardcover including that most memorable storyline of the marriage of Luke and Mara..my feelings are somewhat mixed.
Mara in the ‘regular’ timeline of the Expanded Universe is now dead (and don’t forget to sign the ShowMeSciFi.com petition to bring Mara back!). But to revisit this happiest of times in this incredible hardcover edition is a wonderful thing.
The story isn’t terribly innovative — it’s a wedding story after all — but it’s solid. The art is great and it holds your attention from cover to cover.
The format – the hardcover with the extra special paper stock is incredible and makes everything look/feel (and almost read) better than any other comic format ever produced by Dark Horse. Bottom line is it’s a great read and a must have addition to every Star Wars Expanded Universe fans collection — even more so now that Mara has left us.
Torchwood Season Two starts on Jan 16 January 4, 2008

There are aliens in Cardiff?!
Apparently so. Though it took a few episodes till we got into Torchwood it has turned out to be a really neat little show. At first I thought it would be a lame Dr Who spinoff, but Torchwood is anything but. Episode after episode show well plotted and thought out shows that are matched with a fine cast.
Thankfully BBC realizes they’ve got a winner and are set to do the Second season premiere exclusively on BBC Two on 16 January 2008.On BBC America, Series 2 will premiere on January 26, 2008.
I suspect that really keen fans in the US won’t wait the extra two weeks and will find other means to get at the shows. The BBC has gone to extraodinary measures to try and withold information from Americans about Torchwood – in fact the main BBC Torchwood site restricts access and does not show any content if it detects you have an American IP address.
Thankfully YouTube knows no such boundaries..check out the trailer for yourself
**UPDATE**! Thanks to John Campbell Rees for noticing that our original YouTube link had been pulled (guess the BBC is serious about not letting stuff out)..but thanks to John here’s an even better promo from BBC America.
This is the original BBC UK one..

Who says that good things come to those who wait? Terminator spinoff TV series Sarah Connor Chronicles isn’t on broadcast TV until Jan 13th but you – YES YOU can watch it tomorrow Friday Jan 4th online – for free.
Fox will post the pilot episode of Terminator: The Sarah Connor ChroniclesYahoo! for 24 hours beginning Jan. 4 at 9 p.m. PT/12 a.m. ET. The commercial-free premiere will also feature an exclusive introduction by star Lena Headey (Sarah Connor).
Is this an indication that Yahoo! actually is Skynet? HA! I sure hope that Yahoo! has provisioned enough bandwidth for this event…i’d also suspect that bootleggers and pirates will find their way to swipe it off Yahoo! once available and you’ll see Sarah Conner Chronicles all over BitTorrent too. Hopefully it doesn’t detract from the official broadcast launch on Fox. WE NEED THIS SHOW. The SciFi genre Needs This to be successful…too many SciFi TV shows have died…let’s hope this one has a longer life span.
A White Dwarf Pulsar? NASA has found one. January 3, 2008

Apparently there is alot more to White Dwarf stars then previously thought. Until now a White Dwarf star was thought to be a cooling star that was on its way to fading away..apparently that’s not necessarily the case.
White Dwarf star AE Aquarii according to new NASA research emits pulses of
high-energy (hard) X-rays as it whirls around on its axis.
“We’re seeing behavior like the pulsar in the Crab Nebula, but we’re seeing it in a white dwarf,” says Koji Mukai of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Md. The Crab Nebula is the shattered remnant of a massive star that ended its life in a supernova explosion. “This is the first time such pulsar-like behavior has ever been observed in a white dwarf.”

French mathematician Urbain Jean Joseph Le Verrier claimed on this date in 1860 the discovery of the planet Vulcan. Vulcan was supposed to inhabit the orbit between Mercury and the Sun and was not the home of Logic.
As it turns out Logic which is what let Le Verrier to deduce the existence of Vulcan was flawed as no such planet exists in the orbit he surmised.
To his credit though Le Verrier did ‘discover’ another planet…Neptune.

Don’t be too quick to swing this lightsaber too close to your screen…
It’s a neat idea though it’s basic in construction. What you get is On/off and basic channel flipping capabilities. Then again this is a novelty item so do you really care that it can’t control your entire home entertainment system??

It doesn’t seem that long ago that the Year 2000 was the future. HA!
That said the world of 2008 is certainly ‘futuristic’ in comparison to say the world of 1988.
Cellphones are everywhere
The Internet is everywhere
Beyond those two obvious signs of technology has the world of technology changed all that much? Instead of VHS we have Blu-Ray/HD DVD sure..instead of NES we have Nintendo Wii. It is just a case of same radio different song?
