After 3 weeks of some really great reading..we’re ready to finally offer a full review of Star Wars Legacy of the Force Revelation (which officially came out on Feb 26, 2008).
No this is not the best book in the series – BUT yes it is an AWESOME book and one that at points is an intensely riveting page turning adventure.
Revelation follows follows Fury, Sacrifice, Exile, Betrayal , Bloodlines and Tempest.
The axis on which this whole book sits is the Battle of Fondor and what a battle!
Since the first book of this series – Legacy of the Force has been all about Civil War. What do we call it now – double civil war? The GA now has two factions, then there is still the Confederacy and somewhere inbetween is the Imperial Remnant.
Did i shed a tear for Admiral Palleon? You bet I did.
But amongst all that chaos that is the middle to the end of this book the number one question in my mind was – Where was the Confederacy in all this? Why didn’t Bothawui or Correlia show up?
Also what’s up with Tahiri? Suddenly she’s now a Sith apprentice – yet we never really any discourse from her/Caedus on her becoming Sith?
Jaina’s training with the Mandalorians is awesome stuff and clearly Karen Traviss is cut out for writing about the Mando’ade – it’s what she exels at.
The fact that OH FINALLY Ben/Luke et al accept the fact the Caedus killed Mara was far too drawn out and lame but hey..Fondor makes up for it (A BIT).
Overall we give this 3.5 out of 5 stars.
We have to wait until May 13th for the last book in this series – Invincible – where the only question is — Will Jaina Kill Jacen/Caedus??
Stargate Atlantis The Ark of Truth – REVIEW March 15, 2008

Stargate the Ark of Truth has now been out for a few days and we’ve finally got the chance to watch it.
The Ark of Truth is a decent movie. It’s not WOW, it’s not fantastic. It’s not better than an average episode of Stargate Atlantis.
The movie plods along a bit, with Teal’c spending a whack of timing walking…
There are no great battles…I would have thought that with extra time/budget we could’ve seen a full all out battle with the actual Orii ship armada with the Earth and its allies..but no such luck.
We get a few Orii ships shooting at the Odyssey but that’s about it.
and what about Adria?? COME ON! She had a bit role that was way to minimal.
Sure bringing replicators back into the mix was kinda neat, and yes it was cool to see the end of the Orii story line BUT
MGM did not do everything it could have with this movie which really wasn’t more than we would get in a typical episode (and in fact in many respects we got less).
Let’s hope that the next Stargate movie has MORE (ships, special effects, drama and plot).

We all know they film Battlestar Galactica in Canada.
It’s only every so often that the stars of Galactica actually do Canadian interviews…but with the gear up towards the return of Galatica in a few weeks, they’re out talking.
Case in point is Katee Sackhoff who had this hilarious interview on CBC the other day.

One of the greatest things they ever had was the Star Wars Fan clips competition. Apparently (though I thought Atom went bankrupt years ago) they’re still around and the Star Wars fan film competition is back.
We’re entered the competition in the past (like 7 years ago) but we’re still on their mailing list :

Sci-Fi Channel Sucks March 13, 2008

We here at ShowMeSciFi.com have written many times about the boneheads (no offense intended to any species that are actually boneheads like Klingons or Minbari) that run NBC Universal’s SciFi Channel unit.
I mean what were they thinking with Flash Gordon?
Apparently we’re not the only ones who think Sci-Fi Channel has gone downhill. In fact there is now a very long thread over on Sci-Fi.com with viewers complaining all about the suckyness and non-SciFi programming on Sci-Fi Channel.
What will it take to get Sci-Fi Channel back on track?
That’s EASY. Just put someone in charge of the network that is an actual Sci-Fi fan. Get the rights for Firefly. Bring back Stargate SG-1. License Star Trek. Produce more original shows instead of just rehashes. and then of course reruns of Space1999, Buck Rogers, Forgotten Planet, Babylon 5, Classic Battlestar Galactica the list goes on and on for the shows they could have but don’t – because they SUCK.

Serenity : Better Days #1 hits comic book retailers today.
Yes it’s still a prequel to the Serenity movie..which of course means that Wash is still alive (hurray).
More importantly the Browncoats yet live and we the fans should rejoice that today is in fact a better day.
(we don’t have our copy yet but once we get it we’ll post a review on ShowMeSciFi.com)
Cassini Goes in for a Close up of Enceladus March 11, 2008

Big day for NASA Cassini on March 12th as it zoom in for an extreme closeup of Saturn’s moon Enceladus.
This daring flyby requires exquisite technical finesse, but it has the potential to revolutionize our knowledge of the geysers of Enceladus. The Cassini mission team is eager to see the scientific results, and so am I,” said Alan Stern, associate administrator of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate, Washington in a statement
Apparently Scientists and mission personnel have determined that flying at close distances to Enceladus poses little threat to Cassini because, despite the high speed of Cassini, the plume particles are small. Add that to the fact that Cassini regularly crosses regions made up of dust-size particles in its orbit around Saturn.
Neat stuff. Good luck Cassini and PLEASE don’t get burned.

You know we’re getting close to easter when you see more Last Supper pics…but you’ve never seen one like this.
This is actually a mosaic made up of (get this) approximately 69 thousand images taken from all six Star Wars movies.
Check it out for yourself on Avi’s website (where he’s also planning on selling them)

After 6 plus issues of nothing by Cade Skywalker it’s great to see ‘the other side’ (or at least of them) in the massive universe that is Star Wars Legacy.
The Galactic Alliance (GA) or rather what’s left of it is still on the run … remember this isn’t just about Sith and Jedi
It’s not even about GA vs Empire..its wider…remember that we’ve got GA, Roan Fel’s Empire and then the Sith Empire ..and then the Jedi in between in various sections.
I don’t think i’ve ever seen the docking ring above the Mon Calamari homeworld which was awesome to see and the plot (as always) was fantastic.
Of course the Sith would want to finish off the GA, and what better way than a trap!

Gotta love future timeline alternate realty stuff.
48,000 years into the future too..the end of T’eyla, Carter and Ronan ..(are we done here?) .
Awesome.
The producers easily could have left us hanging just on Sheppard’s return to Atlantis..but they didn’t ..again another sign that this is a finely written show and one with alot of respect for fans.
Sure having the team stuck in a booby traps building at the end is kinda lame..but you know they’re all coming back.
We don’t know quite how Carter will exit the show (we do know that she loses command in Season 5). We don’t know if McKay will actually hook up with Dr. Keller (Jewel Staite)..but hopefully he will.
We do know that Season 5 will be a showdown of wraith factions and the Atlantians…and should be a real battle royale.
Farewell for now Stargate Atlantis..we’ll be waiting for your return!

Leaving us wanting
waiting

Soon we will know the fate of the Orii and SG-1…i can hardly wait.

Hard to believe it has been 10 years since the Star Wars fan flick Troops first hit the net.
Unbelievable in fact (but it’s true).
Troops predates YouTube and HD and alot of the fancy easy to use software we’ve all got in 2008. Yet Troops still really stands up well as one of the greatest Star Wars Fan Flicks ever made.
In celebration of the 10 year anniversary Kevin Rubio spoke with the site where it first appeared – TheForce.net in a really great interview.
Back then the standard speed for the “net” was a 28k or 56k line. Apple had just released Quicktime 2.0 And TROOPS took over 24 hours to download. And the majority of people thought “the net” was a bad Sandra Bullock movie. Yet (thankfully) people still wanted to see it. It was a first, and while not wholly original, it was a new and original way of distribution.
Thanks Kevin – and May The Force Be With You!

At least a decade behind schedule, the International Space Station is now really starting to take shape. At one point it was supposed to be up in space in 1992 for the 500th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ voyage to the ‘new’ world. Ah well…at least it’s coming together now and actually starting to look very very impressive.
It will still take a few more years and billions more, but it’s happening.

Gary Gygax the creator of Dungeons and Dragon has passed away.
I remember well the first time i saw D&D. I remember playing it week in and week out when Advanced Dungeons and Dragons came out.
I still have the Monster Manual sitting on my shelf.
Rest in Peace Dungeon Master. Hope the dice landed in your favor

Science Fact is often waaaaaay cooler than Science Fiction. Case in point are some new pics from NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter of Mars.
An avalanche on Earth (so long as no people are stuck nearby) is cool. On Mars? Multiply that by a factor of ooooh a million or so since the scale of the avalanche is literally astronomical.
“It really surprised me,” says planetary scientist Ingrid Daubar Spitale of the University of Arizona in a statement. “It’s great to see something so dynamic on Mars. A lot of what we see there hasn’t changed for millions of years.”
NASA has also posted a whole whack of wickedly cool picks from Mars – including one of the spaceship looking back on Earth.

WOW what a great episode.
Action
Plot development
and real touching moment drama too (with the young Reese brothers)
This is a show that has gotten better with each and every episode. The T-888 is out there building Skynet, Cromartie is hunter the Connors (and blowing up the FBI), Cameron is hiding something and so is Derek Reese. (and what was up with that other chik from the ‘hood’??).
This CAN’T BE THE LAST EPISODE FOX!! RENEW SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES FOR SEASON 2 !!!
The War to Save (Mankind and the) Sarah Connor Chronicles begins now!

We’re only about half an hour away at posting time from the season finale of Sarah Connor Chronicles.
So far FOX has NOT RENEWED the series, they have NOT stated that they were planning on Season 2 and that really REALLY SUCKS.
Maybe they’re waiting to see how the rating are for the 2 hour show tonight (SO WATCH THE SHOW ON EVERY TV IN YOUR HOUSE AND GET YOUR NEIGHBORS TO DO THE SAME).
Sure the Writer’s strike messed up planning but still, they could show a bit more respect for the show’s fans. Make no mistake about is Sarah Connor Chronicles has fans..and we here at ShowMeSciFi.com are proud to be numbered among them.
So here’s hoping that SCC WILL BE BACK FOR SEASON 2!!
(don’t screw this up FOX, you killed Firefly don’t kill Sarah Connor Chronicles!)

One more episode to go and then Season 4 is a goner.
The last episode easily could have been the season finale with the discovery of a new Dr. Carson Beckett, but thankfully the producers have ALOT of respect for the fans and for that we should all be gratful. It’s also good that they did not disgrace the memory of Dr. Beckett. He did die. This new Beckett is a clone.
He’s not evil or a replicator…just a clone.
Yes it’s kinda lame that he has to go back into stasis…but we know he’ll be back every so often in times of need.
It looks like the final episode of Season 4 -March 7th – WILL BE a cliffhanger (gotta hate those) with Sheppard coming back to an abandoned Atlantis after trying to locate Teyla
