NASA has just posted a video titled ‘Search for Spocks Home’ on the JPL site.
According to Star Trek canon Vulcan is located orbitting the star we know as 40 Eridani A.
Guess what?
It’s real and NASA’s got a plan to find out what’s out there.
But is it logical?
and will life, Live Long & Prosper there?
NBC’s Journeyman set to travel through time May 15, 2007

Remember Quantum Leap? Looks like NBC has a weird take on it coming up soon in a new show called Journeyman.
According to NBC’s description it's a drama about a dude who finds himself with the uncontrollable power to travel through time. It stars Kevin McKidd, (who played Lucius Vorenus on HBO’s Rome), and it is somewhat difficult to describe.
I loved Quantum Leap and was sad to see it go (but it was time in the end)..it’ll be interesting to see how NBC shapes this Journeyman show together.
So let’s look at a clip shall we??
Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) Returns To SciFi This Saturday! May 8, 2007
Posted by showmescifi in Battlestar Galactica, katee sackhoff, science fiction, scifi, YouTube.3 comments
Well we all now know that Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) isn’t actually dead on BSG. AND ShowMeSci readers know that she is a Cylon.
She’s also doing double-time on the SciFi channel with top billing credit in a movie set to air this weekend called – The Last Sentinel.
The basic premise is ‘basic and sorta like BSG, but more like Terminator. Humans build machines to protect them, then the machines turn on them.
“He was mankind’s last defender. Then he lost the will to fight. She (Katee Sackhoff) gave it back to him.”
Set in a deserted and ruined city it tells the story of the last survivors who remain fighting the lost fight against Drones, cultured and raised by mankind. Once again the human race is doomed by uncontrolled exposure to its very own futuristic technologies.
Heavily armed with implants of all kinds Tallis (Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson, „Bloodfist“, „Blackbelt“), the soldier forms part of the last human array sent out against the predominant antagonists to save the world. Left with no chance at all they have to face a staggering defeat.
Left behind as the only remaining survivor of the disastrous battle Tallis prepares himself to operate discreetly, collect equipment and evade any kind of contact with the enemy from that time on. His pacifistic disposition doesn’t change until he rescues a heavily wounded female rebel (Katee Sackhoff, “Battlestar Galactica”, after being ambushed. Unified, the two of them pit themselves against the forces of evil.
Trailer is below – ENJOY BSG fans!
Robot Chicken Star Wars special Trailer May 3, 2007

Robot Chicken has put out a nice 1 minute trailer for the the upcoming 30 minute special edition Star Wars special.
The trailer reaks a bit of some of the actual Lucasfilm prequel trailer approaches esp with the Vader breath approach from the Episode III trailers.
They also use the George Bush as a Jedi and Aluminum Falcon bit in the trailers – though both are funny I really hope we’re getting 30 mins of new material and not just a rehash of stuff (great though it may be) that they’ve already done.
Without any further ado, below is the 1 min trailer..ENJOY and May The FARK Be With You!
Daleks the Scariest Doctor Who villian? April 20, 2007

Apparently so.
In a survey of 21,000 fans conducted by the BBC, the Daleks were voted the scariest Doctor Who villain.![]()
EXTERMINATE. EXTERMINATE.
Now sure Davros is one ugly looking dude, but the Daleks, though sinister aren’t really scary are they? Not to say i’d like to face one down in an dark alley but still.
Maybe i’d fight ’em in a stare case.
They now have some kind of hovering ability, but they don’t climb stairs all that well and don’t do well over rough terrain either. Personally i’d be more worried about the CyberMen.
AND ACTUALLY…i’d say that in my view THE MASTER was the most sinister of all Doctor Who villains.
OOHh..right the Cybermen did fight the Daleks too didn’t they..and here for your viewing pleasure…Cybermen vs. Daleks..
According to the BBC poll.. top ten are:
TOP 10 DOCTOR WHO VILLAINS
1. The Daleks
2. The Empty Child Zombies
3. The Beast
4. The Cybermen
5. The Clockwork Droids
6. The Ood
7. The Empress of Racnoss
8. The Werewolf
9. The Autons/Nestenes
10. Chloe’s Dad

Thank God You’re Here – Jason Alexander Star Trek Spoof April 19, 2007
Posted by showmescifi in Star Trek, startrek, YouTube.2 comments
Seinfeld almunus Jason Alexander (George) is well known for his Shatner/Kirk schtick.
In one of the funniest examples yet from him of his Shatner/Kirk talent Alexander was on the new ‘ Thank God You’re Here improv show last week and he really laid it on thick.
Funniest part? Mid-way through when the crew asks Jason Alexander to start the launch sequence…
“GIDDY UP YIPEE KAY-yay!! ”
Hey! J.J. Abrams!! (Star Trek Movie producer) how bout casting Jason Alexander in the next movie?
Clash of the Titans Set To Return Thanks to Empire Strikes Back Writer April 16, 2007

Remember 1981’s Clash of the Titans?
I sure do. Cheesy special effects and all, it’s a classic. And like all good classics it’s going to be remade.
But this remake is going to be written by Star Wars Episode V Empire Strikes Back Writer Lawrence Kasdan.
The original 1981 story revolves around Zeus’ son, Perseus, and his journey to save Princess Andromeda during which he must complete various tasks set out by Zeus, including capturing Pegasus and slaying Medusa and fighting the Kraken.
No word yet on when this beast will hit the screens or on who might be cast. Sir Lawrence Olivier was Zeus in the original – who’s gonna top that?
Here for your viewing enjoyment – the original 1981 trailer.
Darth Vader Tells Luke ALL – from Robot Chicken April 15, 2007

Everyone remembers the first time they saw the Empire Strikes Back when Vader says,
“Luke I am Your Father.”
But what if Vader told him the rest of the story? You know all the stuff that we learn through the 6 movies?
One thing is for sure it makes for a hilarious Robot Chicken bit.
Chad Vader Episode 7 April 12, 2007

The lastest episode of Chad Vader is out and it’s not quite up to snuff.
Episode 6 was one of the funniest things i’ve ever seen. with Vader like odd job jack working as a telemarketer, a copier repairman and a taxi cab driver.
In Episode 7 Chad is just trying to get his job back..it’s o.k as something that kinda/sorta moves the plot along..but hope Episode 8 is better.
If you haven’t heard of Chad Vader – it’s a YouTube sensation with a ‘Vader’ character as a day/night shift manager at a grocery store. Most of the time it’s great stuff.

What if George W. Bush Was a Jedi? Or at least had some Force abilities?
The dudes at Robot Chicken have a hilarious bit that tackles that issue. Clinton, Laura Bush and Abe Lincoln Beware! heheh Tacos Rule!

Steve Jobs is a cylon! Explains a lot doesn’t it?
Think about it a human looking entitiy bent on having good looking technology infiltrate and take over our lives..
It’s also the title of a really cool Battlestar Galactica fan flick in which a pair of geeks running a Mac with an iPod attached are illegally downloading a BSG episode and get a ‘virus’.
The vid really gets interesting 1:50 seconds into the video. One dude says, “Mac’s don’t get viruses’ AND then…well just watch the FRAKIN YouTube video. Great stuff, a must for all Apple haters and BSG lovers.
(oh and be sure to keep your iPod nailed down or risk get blasted)

RvD2: Ryan vs. Dorkman 2 the ultimate fanboy lightsaber duel March 9, 2007

RvD2: Ryan vs. Dorkman 2 is now one of my fav fanboy lightsaber duels ever.
Long story short two average dudes duke it out in a factory with real slick saber action that is jaw droppingly awesome. The footage is professionally done and the lightsaber sounds and effects are top notch.
One of my fav sequence occurs at 4:20 where the two of them use the force to try and attrack and repel a lightsaber that has been dropped. The one dude finally wins out but then the butt of the saber hits him in the head – JUST CLASSIC.
Then at 5:48 he gets his hand cut off and to add insult to injury gets his knee sliced too…almost like Monty Python Holy Grail and the black knight scene.
Anyways without any further ado – RvD2: Ryan vs. Dorkman 2 live from YouTube.

Who would win in a fight between Captain Mal (Firefly) vs. Caprica Six (Battlestar Galactica)?
Apparently the two of them dated…Nathon Fillion talks all about it in this YouTube vid from WonderCon 2007.
Battlestar Galactica – 3×17 Maelstrom – Bonus Scene March 6, 2007

Just in case you haven’t seen it at SciFi.com here’s the bonus scene from last weeks’ Maelstrom episode.
Makes me wonder how much additional footage they shoot beyond what actually shows up in any given show. I’d wager in this season it’s enough to shoot another two full episodes..

Just came across this vid (on YouTube of course).
Who needs ‘Lola’ when you can see Weird Al singing ‘Yoda’ live. Great song but at least half the fun with this vid is the audience reactions – fanboy central!!
Battlestar Galactica Dirty Hands – bonus scene and poll February 26, 2007
Posted by showmescifi in Battlestar Galactica, battlestargalactica, scifi, YouTube.add a comment
Battlestar Galactica ‘Dirty Hand’s’ was a pretty solid episode. No it’s not ‘hard’ science fiction but it speaks to the heart of what makes BSG great. Namely deep philosophical and ethical discussion about society.
Does where you are from and who your parents are dictate you will become?
It’s an age old question.
The only real surprise for me was that Baltar emerges as the ‘hero’ for the underclass, which was totally unexpected.
SciFi.com is running a contest now (click the pic link at the top of the post) about ‘Dirty Hands’. The question this week is whether the tylium workers were being treated unfairly?
As of the time of this posting 39% of respondents responded that they thought they were being treated unfairly. What do you think?
Oh and SciFi.com has also posted a bonus segment from the episode it gives a bit of insight into cali and tyrol but nothing too important. I’ve linked to a low-quality YouTube version below..enjoy!

Just watched the latest episode of Chad Vader (episode 6) and it doesn’t dissapoint. Vader is sort of like odd job jack in this episode working as a telemarketer, a copier repairman and a taxi cab driver.
HILARIOUS.
Nice classic Vader lines laced throughout the vid and some real professional camerawork make Chad Vader my favorite ongoing YouTube series. Why ask a Ninja when you can watch a Sith?
Don’t believe me? Check out the episode right here.
Two Jedi Get Into a Fight at a Kegger February 22, 2007

Kevin Rubio’s Troops is perhaps the greatest star wars fan film ever made (with a nod to Hardware Wars of course).
But what Troops didn’t have is the hard edge..the real life pandemonium and vulgarity that for better or for worse we expect in 2007.
Then along comes this vid, titled ‘Stabbing at Leia’s 22nd Birthday’. It’s a 2007, harsher, cruder version of troops.
