Mara Jade Skywalker didn’t have to die at the hands of Darth Caedus.
It was a wasted empty death…
Lucas Licensing apparently allowed this disaster to happen and now we should call on them to reverse it. The Sith have the power to bring back the dead and so too then does the Force.
Whether it is Ben or Luke Skywalker or even someone else I don’t care. I just want Mara Jade back.
To that end we here at ShowMeSciFi have started a petition to Bring Back Mara Jade.
Please sign in and together we can be THE FORCE that will bring Mara back.

Doesn’t matter to me, I’ve just been alternating between the same four emails every day and plan on continuing. I’m wondering if I or other people with a poor opinion of what they were doing like myself had been more annoying they’d have tried to clean up their mess somewhat in the last year.
You know, I’ve just been looking at reviews of the latest books in the Fate of the Jedi series, and I all I can say is that I have seen soap operas, REALLY BAD SOAP OPERAS mind you, that have had story lines with better quality and less depression. I honestly don’t know how Allston, Denning, and everyone else involved can sleep at night. Especially Denning! He claimed to have been a huge fan of the YJK series, and yet he seems to have gone out of his way to completely and utterly frak it up beyond repair!
(For the record, yes I have been watching a lot of BSG lately, hence the “frak”)
At times, I can barely play “Empire at War” or “Forces of Corruption”, as I am constantly reminded of the mutilation of the EU from Vector Prime onwards. Not just the death of Mara, but also of both the Solo boys, and the way that Jaina has been turned into a total bitch, how all of their friends from the YJK/JJK series have been chewed up and spit out, and how it seems the authors have no intention of getting off this path. Don’t they realize how much this universe and the characters who inhabit it mean to people like us? Obviously they don’t, otherwise they wouldn’t keep frakking it all up like this!
I swear, Del Rey must have put a clause in their contracts that anybody writing a SW book must be lobotomized beforehand to remove any semblance of their common sense!
This is why I am embarking upon my crazy long shot of a plan!
Well speaking of Delrey seeming to not care about a coherent story etc. Amazon sends me another email today about upcoming Star Wars novels (that I haven’t read since Invincible, but for whatever reason I opened it to see whta there was and there is some upcoming novel called “Death Troopers” wherin a Stormtrooper, Doctor, and some criminals end up surviving a plague only to end up fighting the dead aboard the Star Destroyer they take refuge on. Now fighting zombies aboard a space ship sounds good for a regular sci-fi movie or something that would fit into Warhammer 40K but not into the EU in my opinion.
The Death Troopers is Del Rey’s answer to Star Wars – Halloween style. And when has Star Wars exploited a National holiday in profic before? If this keeps up, look for future books: Star Wars Thanksgiving book, Christmas book, Easter, the list could go on for DR to make more bucks from us. Well…not US per se.
On another note, someone gave me this link to Crave’s 10 Female Characters that Would Kick Your Face In.
http://www.craveonline.com/entertainment/comics/article/10-female-characters-that-would-kick-your-face-in-86213
Now Mara is in there of course, but here’s what I can’t stand. Every other character listed has a bad-ass moment, and they’re pretty well chosen. Mara’s “badass” moment is when she “discovers that her nephew, Jacen Solo, has turned to the dark side and doesn’t waste a second hunting him down to kill him. Even in her defeat, she leaves clues for her family to identify the killer.” Is it me, or is someone trying to make it seem like Mara’s death was a good thing? I could think of SEVERAL other Mara badass moments that certainly don’t involve her death.
I used to love Star Wars. Now, I just want to cry.
I wouldn’t put it past them to throw a little spin in addition to the pretending the super-fans are all there are but I wouldn’t put too much stock in something like that seems thrown together to appease people, thereby being halfassed. Honestly most of the characters on that list just stink lol.
You know, I pray every day that somebody will have the guts to do what JJ Abrams did with Star Trek, and just reboot everything by creating an alternate timeline. I know it sounds a tad far-fetched, but considering the bile that is being spewed out right now, it would certainly be worth it!
Of course, the current hack team of Allston, Denning, and so on would never go through with that. They are perfectly content with continuing to f$%& everything up.
Oh God, I want to kill them so badly!
Well, I don’t want to kill anyone just because they ruined a great epic story. There seems to be enough death for worse reasons in the real world for that.
I will say that rebooting a movie franchise seems to be a bit different than rebooting a novel series. The ironic thing about Star Trek is that it’s now been done in both areas effectively. I’m not saying it can’t be done with Star Wars, but it would be much harder with DR at the reins.
SPOILERS AHEAD!
Though I don’t know why I need the warning since I don’t believe anyone writing in here is reading Fate of the Jedi.
I do sometimes pick up the books to read excerpts just to see how bad the writing is. I swear it gets worse everytime I do and I have to fight back an urge to hurl the book across the store. But that would mean I’d have to buy it, so I don’t.
Mara IS back in the latest book. As a Force ghost. Luke and Ben find a mystical realm where they can “talk” to the dead, including Jacen. I read where they “speak” to Mara and it reads like a cheap SyFy movie! Mara regrets her decision to go after Jacen as an assassin. Oh, NOW she regrets it! Seems like the writers are trying to backtrack their own mistake of killing off the most dynamic character in the Star Wars EU.

If that is the case, I’d say their sales are probably even farther down than one would suspect which really wouldn’t be that surprising considering that with a niche market like this I imagine if a fair number (like myself) only read them for the continuing story+ subject matter then stopped it would be fairly noticable.
Hi everyone,
In the last few weeks I’ve been re-reading the books (well, it’s been the 10th time I did it) by Timothy Zahn, because I love them so. Mara became my favoruite female character not just in the Star Wars Universe, but in whole literature. That time I wanted to purchase all the other sequel novels to read more about the wonderful relationship of Mara and Luke but a friend warned me not to do it because not only the standard of the books level down (in the way of writing) after Timothy Zahn, but the story once turns so bad it’s not worth reading or I’ll ever regret it. I made my friend tell the whole story and I’ve decided I will not go on reading until Mara comes back. I’ve read some other stories like Union in comic book form, but I decided to stop. I want more of Luke & Mara but I know I’m getting even closer to that nonsense, empty, stupid death of Mara. I’m ignoring everything that happens in the SW Universe until they don’t correct this fatal mistake.
