SciFi channel has confirmed that Season 5 of Battlestar Galactica will air in January of 2009 and not April of 2009.
Several blogs (not this one) claimed that Sci Fi Channel was going to frak over the fans and push back the final season.
The reports are erroneous, the channel confirmed to SCI FI Wire. “It is still slated to return January 2009,” a spokesman for the channel said.
**UPDATE** Technically speaking the January start is being called Season 4 by NBC Universal – i expect when they do their box sets they’ll call it 4.5. But it’s really Season 5. How do you have a show in the same season more than 8 months apart? that’s nuts it’s season 5 and Sci Fi is just playing around with numbers for some unknown reason.

I don’t believe this so I’m not going to get my hopes up! Hate when they cancel a show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s season 4 because it was supposed to be with the last season but the writers’ strike meant that the last half hadn’t been written yet.
It’s the same storyline and the WRITERS said it was still season 4.
And who was the one above that commented on it being canceled? It wasn’t canceled, the writers decided to finish it.

all i want to say is that i hope the season 4.5 5 what ever isn’t . another dead earth. why not have them run in the stargaze Atlantis. or something but a dead earth how lame is that.. the first series in the 70’s and 80’s ended lame and no spin offs for the fans to gravitate to.
with all that’s going on the future looks bleak for this scifi fan
Battlestar Galactica is a great series ! Hopefully the rest of the series starts to air soon, i miss the show right now.
