It’s December almost and we were supposed to see the Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica this month. (We saw the trailer back in July.)

But we won’t and that sucks.

According to TV Guide : “Though Sci Fi once planned to air Caprica in December, it’s now on hold, pending the final episodes of Battlestar Galactica. It definitely won’t see the light of day until after the BSG series finale … but also maybe not at all.”

Most trailers are really good. Many are better than the show or film they’re teasing..

Then there is the teaser trailer for Battlestar Gallactica prequel show Caprica.

A show about two families?

Making human looking cylons before they make the toasters?

What the frak is going on??

‘My real name isn’t Adams it’s Adama’??

This doesn’t look good my friends…check out the teaser trailer for yourselves…

Battlestar Galactica Set for an Unhappy Ending May 29, 2008

Guess what? Edward James Olmos – Admiral “husker” Adama himself is now saying that the end of Battlestar Galactica is going to be a real shocker.

“It’s not a happy ending, we end up with almost nothing,” Olmos told SciFiNow.

Neat.

Guess that means they don’t find Earth and they just end up blowing each other up and the Cylon win!

Eric Stoltz is the First (and final) Cylon! May 14, 2008

Casting for the Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica is picking up pace. This week we found out who will play Daniel Graystone – creator of the Cylon.

Remember Stoltz from Pulp Fiction?

Considering the new God storyline of the Cylon in BSG…I think that Stoltz/Graystone will have a pivotal role in the final season of BSG too.

Just like Data on Star Trek (and remember Ron Moore steals his best ideas from Trek) – I’d bet the Cylon were created in the image of their creator.

Two casting notes for the Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica. We now know who will play Will Adama’s dad – Joseph Adama. As well we know who will play the wife of the man who creates the Cylon.

Jo Adama will be played by Jericho actor Esai Morales, most recently played Maj. Edward Beck in the CBS series “Jericho.”

Deadwood actress Paula Malcolmson will play Amanda Graystone wif e of the frakin douchbag that creates the Cylon.

Battlestar Galactica Toys – old stuff is cheap. new isn’t April 18, 2008

To be perfectly honest we don’t currently own any Battlestar Galactica toys. And that’s a problem.

The piece de resistance for the modern Battlestar Galactica toy collector has to be the Art Asylum version of the new BSG 75 Battlestar Galactica ship.

We tried to get one when they were still brand new and ‘on the shelf’ but they were impossible to find.

On eBay there is currently one listing – starting at a whopping $129.99 (which kinda sounds like a lot but considering how rare this is…that’s not too crazy).

On the old stuff side…how bout a Classic Viper together with 3 figures?

Sounds like a decent haul right??

Bidding on that is now only at $6.50 !!

So what’s the lesson here? If you want old/classic stuff — it won’t cost much, but good luck finding bargain basement pricing on new BSG toys.

Virtuality – Can you do a whole series about holodecks? April 14, 2008

Forget about Caprica, Ronald Moore is placing his bets on FOX for his next series.

Moore has got FOX (yes the same FRAKIN network that canceled Firefly) to green light a pilot for a new series called Virtuality.

The sci-fi project, from Universal Media Studios and producers Gail Berman and Lloyd Braun, is set aboard the Phaeton, Earth’s first starship, on a 10-year journey to explore a distant solar system. To help the 12 crew members endure the long trip and keep their minds occupied, NASA equipped the ship with advanced virtual reality modules, allowing them to assume adventurous identities and go to any place they want. The plan works until a mysterious “bug” is found in the system.

Remember of course that Moore used to write on Star Trek TNG, home of the holodeck. So now he’s pitching a whole series where the holodeck is the centerpiece of the show.

The Firefly Battlestar Galactica Link March 31, 2008

Huh.

While Firefly and Battlestar Galactica seem to me to be two different — though both gritty Sci-Fi – shows, there actually is a more tangible link between the two.

Writer Jane Espenson actually wrote episodes for both shows (browncoats and toasters).  In a really interesting interview she spill the beans on the difference between the two shows and how much influence Firefly had on BSG.

What was it like being the only Firefly writer to come over to BSG? Did you get a sense that BSG was trying to imitate some of Firefly’s more revolutionary elements, like the grittier, less heroic tone?

I don’t think Firefly influenced BSG. BSG was being developed shortly after Firefly was, and I’m under the impression that Ron would’ve been too busy coming up with Battlestar to be watching Firefly.

Sure all the hype this week is about the new Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica..

I’m still pretty excited about Season Zero though.

Issue #5 is FRAKING awesome…solid art, neat plot with the ship overrun by what seem like proper Colonials…but aren’t.

Who need the cylons when you’ve got a rebel insurgency within the colonies and a potential civil war?

I guess the colonies were pretty messed up even without the Cylon’s nuking them into non-existence.

starbuckpicsmall.jpgWOW.

This month’s Entertainment Weekly has an awesome spread with Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica)…

and yes she looks fine.

Even more interesting though to SciFi fans is her revelations about the show, what she likes (the cast), dislikes (her Viper) and the word she never uses (Frak).

Check out the awesome video interview:

The general idea is that they’ll get you caught up and give you a few tidbits about what will be revealed in Season 4. Nothing too crazy but still kinda frakking cool.

Generally speaking I like David Letterman.

I also like Battlestar Galactica – so you would think that having all the stars for BSG on the Late Show would be a winning combination right?

IT WASNT’.

IT WAS LAME. The actors (all dress in their BSG costumes) looked totally fake and the only one that was even close to being real was Tricia Helfer and Katee Sackhoff.

The rest were bad and looked like crap.

The top 10 list was also lame (though the Starbuck line – we get chased by killing machines in the new season..same sh*t as last year ..was funny..). And of course who doesn’t want to see Caprica Six naked?

If you missed it CBS has posted the full bit online …here ya go..

We all know they film Battlestar Galactica in Canada.

It’s only every so often that the stars of Galactica actually do Canadian interviews…but with the gear up towards the return of Galatica in a few weeks, they’re out talking.

Case in point is Katee Sackhoff who had this hilarious interview on CBC the other day.

Battlestar Galactica : Caprica – Back on Track? January 17, 2008

1 comment so far

We’ve been hearing about the Battlestar Galactica : Caprica prequel series for at least a year.

The general idea behind Caprica is that Caprica would take place more than half a century before the events that play out in Battlestar Galactica. The people of the Twelve Colonies are at peace and living in a society not unlike our own, but where high technology has changed the lives of virtually everyone for the better.

In the latest issue of TV Guide (the one with the Sarah Connor Chronicles cover) there is a news bit that would seem to indication that SciFi will now put Caprica into production.

The reason why now is simple. The script is already done – and with the strike SciFi is desperate for scripts so why not use something it already has but just hasn’t produced?

“I just got a call from NBC-Universal,” SciFi VP Mark Stern told TV Guide. “They want us to take another look at the project.”

Entertainment Weekly has a full spread in their latest issue on Battlestar Galactica season 4. They’ve done a ‘last supper’ pic which is supposed to provide all kind of spoiler indications. Without spelling it out for you..here’s EW’s take below…(and hey go pick up a copy of Entertainment Weekly if you want a full size version). The big question about who is the final cylon is still the big question….

A new story arc takes shape and it looks real good so far. A series of terrorist attacks takes place across the colonies, and the Battlestar Galactica is in charge of the investigation. A nice multi-threaded story with decent art, dialogue and action.

I’ve said it before and i’ll say it again – while Mr. Moore decides on when Season 4 will ever show up (and the awesomeness of Razor aside). Dynamites Battlestar Galactica comics are really great avenue to get your BSG fix.

Pacing follows a BSG TV episode.

Characters are the same.

Plots could easily have fallen out of Mr. Moore’s own script book too.

From the first 2 minute flashback to this – the last 2 minute Battlestar Galactica Razor Flashback – this has been 14 full minutes of frakking awesome good SciFi.

We’ve never known the suddenness of how the first Cylon War ended – now we do. The preview also has all kind of hidden meaning and Adama’s discovery of the human prisoners is likely somehow related to the new biological cylons.

If you haven’t seen it yet ENJOY. The DVD version of Razor should have all this on it (plus a few extras) but for now..this will do…

“All this has happened before and it will happen again”

WOWOWOWOW. The flashbacks have all been awesome so far but this one really raises an incredible number of questions.

Adama stumbles onto a Cylon lab – obviously they’re experimenting on humans to try and make a biological cylon…or are they?

There is enough doubt and clues planted that the Cylon could very well have been biological beings to begin with..

The most curious line in the whole two minutes — all this has happened before and will happen again – was that just a voice in Adama’s head? the Fifth Cylon?

I don’t know…but I do know that these flashback – while only 2 minutes in length are excellent entertainment.

If you’re outside the US and don’t have the stomach for Flash BS – here’s the vid for your viewing pleasure..

This series is pretty now pretty frakin good.
With no real Battlestar Galactica on save for the Razor flashbacks – the comics are our only BSG refuge and this series is now really coming into its own.

The best part of this issue is how well it ties in with what we already know from the series. This could easily be canon.

Issue #2 marks the end of the first mini-arc and is a real solid issue that shows Adama being the stand up man we know him to do.
