With only a pair of episodes to go..this is the kind of crap they throw at us.
Ah well I guess with Mitchell’s Kansas homecoming they had to do a Vala personal issues episode too. Kinda cutesy at times – and hey Vala rocks so i’d be a moron to complain too much.
Do Martians Live Underground? June 8, 2007

Apparently there is a deep hole on Mars that could lead to a route to Life on Mars.
No i’m not making this up and it’ss actually Science and not SciFi.
A very dark spot on Mars could be an entrance to a deep hole or cavern, according to scientists studying imagery taken by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
The geological oddity measures some 330 feet (100 meters) across and is located on an otherwise bright dusty lava plain to the northeast of Arsia Mons, one of the four giant Tharsis volcanoes on the red planet.
The hole might be the sort of place that could support life or serve as a habitat for future astronauts, researchers speculated.
REad the whole story on Space.
WestWorld remake in the works June 7, 2007

From the another classic film about to ruined dept..
1973 Classic. Westworld directed and written by Michael Crichton and staring Yul Brynner, Richard Benjamin and James Brolin is on the remake block.
The futuristic drama cast Benjamin and Brolin as visitors to an amusement park where visitors can play out entertainment fantasies with the help of virtual reality and robots. The trouble starts when the robots begin to fight back.
No word yet on when it will hit the theaters. How can anyone replace Yul Brynner though?
Westworld actually also spawned a very short lived spinoff TV series in the early 80s..it only lived for five episodes.
Thundercats are on the move, Thundercasts are loose! June 6, 2007

Thunder
THUNDER. THUNDERCATS HO!!!
Yup that much love 80’s cartoon is transitioning to the big screen.
The core Thundercats story is basic enough..here’s what Wikipedia lists:
The story begins with the destruction of the ThunderCats original home, the distant planet of Thundera. Forced to flee from the dying world, The ThunderCats and their fellow Thunderians board a fleet of starships to escape just as the planet blew itself apart.
Aboard the fleet’s flagship, a team of several ThunderCat nobles are gathered to escort and protect the sole heir to the ThunderCats’ leadership: the young Lion-O, a boy of twelve years. They also hope to safeguard the Eye of Thundera, the source of the ThunderCats’ power, embedded in the hilt of the mystic Sword of Omens.
No word yet on when Thundercats the movie will be in theatres but here’s hoping they keep the original theme song.
Battlestar Galactica – Beyond The Red Line Video Game June 5, 2007

What’s a FRAKKING BSG fan to do?
The show is ending next year and even worse there are no new episodes to be had for months yet…what to do what to do.
PLAY THE FRAKKING VIDEO GAME of course.
Battlestar Galactica – Beyond The Red Line (BTRL) is a FREE game that is now available as a Demo for PC/MAC/LINUX users. It’s a fan effort and is not officially endorsed by BSG’s copyright owners.
In an interview with the BTRL developers one of them admits that they have not made any attempt to contact Ron Moore or NBC Universal directly regarding the project.
In choosing to develop a game based on “Battlestar Galactica” we are making use of the intellectual property of NBC Universal. We walk a very thin legal line by using this material as inspiration for our work, which is why our project is free to the public. The team has no desire to profit from this labor of love, but rather to bring a new and enjoyable “Galactica” experience to fans of the television series and video games alike.
If that is not proof positive that SciFi and Ron Moore are a bit out too lunch I don’t know what is. There is so much demand/interest in BSG, they could easily make good money with a solid game like BTRL, but they are too busy deciding on when to cancel the series instead of giving fans more of what they want.
ShowMeSciFi will have more on BTRL soon..but for now check out this trailer…oh and don’t forget to download and try out the came yourself! (

Stargate The Alliance video game cancelled but is it truly dead? June 4, 2007
Posted by showmescifi in science fiction, sciencefiction, scifi, stargate, video games, YouTube.1 comment so far
Two years ago there was alot of hype around a new Stargate video game called Stargate The Alliance.
It never saw the light of day because MGM saw to it that it never would.
But fans being fans – there is a petition online calling for its return..but in a new twist in this conspiracy the petition itself is now closed, even though there are over 26,000 people that ‘signed’ the petition.
With Stargate Worlds apparently still in production..who is to say that MGM won’t find a way to kill that game too..
That being the case..the code for Stargate The Alliance is out there and just like the fans that are working on restoring the KOTOR the Sith Lords..hey you never know the game might well yet emerge..
Stargate Atlantis Dr Carson Beckett Didn’t Have To Die June 3, 2007

OK. Sunday (Stargate Atlantis 3×17) has finally aired in the US (though ShowMeSciFi blogged about it back in February originally).
Dr. Carson Beckett didn’t have to die.
For those that don’t read this blog or look for spoilers online, they had no idea what was coming. I got calls from a few friends after the episode aired asking me what the FRAK happened – AFTER scolding them for not reading this blog we had some great discussions.
The SciFi website gives no indication in its episode synopsis that Sunday has anything to do with Beckett. In fact they make it seem like Dr. Weir going on a date is the BIG plot.
Becket was just going about his dangerous business as he does in every episode, disposing of the exploding tumor was no more or less dangerous than anything else we’ve seen him or anyone else on Stargate Atlantis do. Yet somehow this time Beckett dies. There is an explosion and then we see his flag draped coffin.
It didn’t have to be this way.
It was an empty death for a noble character – he deserved much better. Sure the multiple flashback approach for the plot in this episode was great but none of it justified the death of Beckett.
Word is that Becket will now return in Season 4. Seeing as he was – plain and simple – blown up real good – i don’t see how he can come back. It’s not like he ascended or anything.
Maybe it will be a clone or replicator version of Becket but the original Scotsman is dead. The piper has already played the pipes for him.
Beckett’s death was an empty one – even more empty than Tasha Y’aar in Star Trek. The way Trek brought Tasha back was kinda neat though..here’s hoping Stargate Atlantis’ writing crew comes with something as inventive.
Otherwise I suppose they could always just have a shower scene..and this one Sunday episode could just be bad dream

Only 3 episodes left and Stargate SG-1’s story is really quite far from completion – guess that’s why they’ve got the direct to DVD movies coming in early summer.
Basic enough episode with Teal’c going after a rogue Jaffa that has aligned with Orii. Nothing great, nothing really bad -it’s just kinda there.
Hope that the next three episode ratchet this show up a bit..at this rate it’s going out with whimper rather than a bang.
Battlestar Galactica Season 4 WILL BE THE LAST no and ifs or buts about it June 1, 2007

I don’t know why SciFi channel hates its fans so much.
We’ve known for some time that season 4 could be the last one, but instead of just admitting it, the show’s producers and SciFi have FRAKKED US OVER making us think there is hope.
THAT’S JUST UNFAIR.
“This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end,” Eick and Moore said in a statement Thursday. “Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we’ve decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms. And while we know our fans will be saddened to know the end is coming, they should brace themselves for a wild ride getting there — we’re going out with a bang.”
I don’t have a problem with the show ending. I do have a problem with this on again off again bs. Considering how poorly SciFi has managed to market and schedule this show over the past year you’d think they were trying to lose money and purposefully undercut the potential success of BSG…maybe it’s all just a cylon plot afterall.
Chad Vader Episode 8 May 31, 2007

I KNOW..a bit late but ..
Finally saw Chad Vader Episode 8 which apparently is the end of season 1. This was definitely the weakest episode of the bunch..(I strongly submit that Chad Vader Episode 6 is the best by far) but still it does tie up the ‘plot’ with Chad regaining the day shift manager position at the market.

No this won’t be Star Wars The Force Unleashed but hey..the Wii may make this real interesting.

Doctor Who Getting Cancelled May 31, 2007

UNBELIEVABLE how stupid is the BBC?
Apparently they are cancelling the show at the end of season four even though Doctor Who is one of the most popular shows in the UK.
Boss Russell T. Davies has decided to axe the BBC1 sci-fi drama and concentrate on other projects.
He and senior staff have hatched a plot to hand in a group resignation in summer 2008.
A source said: “The heavy workload — nine months of 16-hour days every year — has started to take its toll.
“It was decided the best thing for the show was go out at the top next year.”
This is just pathetic. It wasn’t that long ago that the BBC reported that the show had been confirmed for season 4 – or season 30 if you’re counting all Doctor Who. For FREAKIN once i’d like to see a SciFi show run by a real SciFi fan that isn’t going to screw fans over.
More Star Wars Toys on the Way – May 30, 2007

30 years worth of toys isn’t enough – when it comes to Star Wars that is.
Hasbro has got a few more goodies coming out this year, so time to expand your collection.
Among the highlights is a Gold Squadron Y-Wing from Episode IV. Obi-Wan Starfighter with Hyperspace ring (EP I and II), ARC-170 (special Clone wars animated series version), Quinlan Vos and Villie Comic pack (from the Dark Horse series) andthat’s just what the highlights are IMHO.
check out this Hasbro panel from Celebration IV for more details

At last weekends’ Celebration Event in LA new details emerged about the highly anticipated next gen Lucas Arts Game The Force Unleashed. The game is set for a November release and falls in between Episodes III and IV with the player being Darth Vader’s Secret Apprentice hunting down Jedi.
Lucas has put up a new documentary that goes above and beyond what was detailed at Celebration – check it out below…No its not KOTOR – but it could be something even better.
Yoda Wins USPSjedimaster.com contest May 29, 2007

Won He Has.
So apparently voters prefer the Light Side to the Dark Side. Yoda has emerged victorious in the USPSjedimaster.com Star Wars stamp contest winning over the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader. Yoda had been leading for much of the past month so his victory isn’t a surprise.
The contest first kicked off in March and was teased out with R2D2 mailboxes that still are on street corners across America.
So what does Yoda win??
A stand alone sheet of stamps. Not that it’s really a big deal the United States Postal Service is already selling all of the Star Wars stamps in one big sheet at post offices across the U.S.

Star Wars Rebellion Issue #6 – Is this title back or is Dark Horse frakking with us? May 29, 2007
Posted by showmescifi in comic books, comics, Dark Horse, Dark Times, science fiction, sciencefiction, scifi, Star Wars, star wars comics, star wars rebellion.2 comments
Dark Horse has done a MAJOR dis-service to its readers by crippling the Dark Times and the Rebellion series with inconsistent releases and titles that just seems to come out without any schedule.
Dark Times is back on schedule now and apparently so is Rebellion.
Issue # 6 is the first to come out in MONTHS and is a new story arc following the events of the Trade Paperback.
Yes it’s a cool story, but I’m hesitant to invest any emotional capital into this series until I see issues come out every month in a consistent fashion.
Perhaps the saddest part of Rebellion for the fools that run this title at Dark Horse is because this title has come out so irregularly they had to send out preview copies to a few ‘select’ individual in order to solicit them for letters to the editor.
Dark Horse is doing an excellent job with Legacy, beyond that in this 30th anniversary year of Star Wars the comic book publisher is shaming the franchise with inconsistent titles and with at least one MAJOR FLOP (Knights of The Old Republic).
Hopefully this new issue of Rebellion is the start of a comeback for Dark Horse, and if not I hope that Lucas Licensing is out there watching and considering moving Star Wars comics to another more reliable publisher.
Star Wars Clone Wars – The NEW Animated Series Trailer!! May 28, 2007

The first animated clone wars series was ‘cartoony’ to say the least..though i don’t know anyone that didn’t like the stylized Yoda.
Lucas is kicking it up a notch with a full 3D NEW animated Clone Wars series. The trailer is now up and it looks freakin AWESOME.
How much this show will diverge from the first animated series is unknown and it’s story arc is also unknown at this time.

The new StarWars.com site is now up and i’m not sure if i like it or not.
Certainly the last StarWars.com site was heavy on the comic book style – This new site is more closely aligned with the Star Wars universe of the LucasArts gaming world.
It’s great to see Chad Vader getting his due up front and center – though on the usability side of things the new site’s main navigation isn’t nearly as fluid as a flash navigation should be.

I wasn’t expecting to get Star Wars Legacy of the Force Sacrifice until tomorrow (May 29th) but actually got a copy today May 28th! HURRAY!
Yes we all know the basic spoilers already.
That said Exile was an awesome book and there is alot of ground to cover in Sacrifice.
Expect to see a few less posts on ShowMeSciFi in the coming days as I dedicate every spare moment to reading this.
Star Wars Legacy # 12 – Vong are the saviors of the Jedi? May 28, 2007

I seem to remember the Jedi helping to chase the Vong out of the galaxy..true Jacen Solo (now Darth Caedus) did have a thing for the world brain on Coruscant though..
Now apparently the Vong are the keepers of the Jedi legacy.
In any case Star Wars Legacy issue #12 is yet another awesome issue in a series that just doesn’t disappoint. We learn a bit more about Cade, but alot about the Vong and their interaction with the Jedi in this issue.
The only ‘dumb’ thing is Cade deciding to go to Coruscant at the end of the issue – of course he’s going to get captured by Krayt – what kind of plot setup is that? i mean COME ON. Unless of course Krayt is really Cade’s uncle/ancestor and he’s using some Force trick to call him to Corsucant.
In any case a great issue – and i’m looking forward to issue #13.
*OHHH and before i forget. R2D2?! REally? After all these years R2D2 IS BACK!! (wonder when we’ll see C3PO?)
