“TRON: Legacy” is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), a rebellious 27-year-old, is haunted by the mysterious disappearance of his father Kevin Flynn (Oscar®- and Golden Globe®-winner Jeff Bridges), a man once known as the world’s leading video-game developer. When Sam investigates a strange signal sent from the old Flynn’s Arcade—a signal that could only come from his father—he finds himself pulled into a digital world where Kevin has been trapped for 20 years. With the help of the fearless warrior Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe—a universe created by Kevin himself that has become far more advanced with never-before-imagined vehicles, weapons, landscapes and a ruthless villain who will stop at nothing to prevent their escape. Presented in Disney Digital 3D™ and scored by Grammy® Award-winning electronic music duo Daft Punk, “TRON: Legacy” hits U.S. theaters on Dec. 17, 2010, in Disney Digital 3D™ and IMAX® 3D.

Notes:
• Producer Steven Lisberger co-wrote and directed the original “TRON” (1982).
• Jeff Bridges, winner of both the Oscar® and Golden Globe® for his role in “Crazy Heart,” reprises the role of Kevin Flynn, which he originated in “TRON” (1982).
• Bruce Boxleitner reprises the roles of Alan Bradley and Tron, which he originated in “TRON” (1982).
• Grammy® Award-winning Daft Punk is composing the music for “TRON: Legacy.”
• “TRON: Legacy” forges a new frontier in filmmaking with its avant-garde, cutting-edge technology—set to blow away today’s audiences. Among the film’s firsts: it is the first 3D movie to integrate a fully digital head and body based upon an existing actor, creating the younger version of Jeff Bridges’ character; it’s the first movie to make extensive use of self-illuminated costumes; it’s the first movie to create molded costumes using digital sculpture exclusively, creating molds directly from computer files using CNC (Computer Numerical Cutting) technology; it’s the first 3D movie shot with 35mm lenses and full-35mm chip cameras; and it’s the first movie to record uncompressed HD Video to Hard Drive.
• The world of “TRON: Legacy” has an exciting, pulsing vibe that sets its lifestyle apart from any other on or off the planet. From electric light suits to state-of-the-art hair and makeup, elements of the trend-setting world of “TRON: Legacy” are showing up on fashion runways, and companies such as Hurley, adidas, Oakley and Burton are featuring “TRON”-inspired lines targeted for the young male consumer in collaboration with Disney Consumer Products.

“TRON: Legacy” is a 3D high-tech adventure about a father and son (Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund) who embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Smallville’s Season 10 means its time for us to watch 9 years worth of episodes September 20, 2010

OK, we’ll admit it. We have not seen every episode of all 9 seasons (to date) of Smallville..

But that’s now going to change. You see, the final season – season 10 – of Smallville starts this week, and though we haven’t followed this show from the beginning (usually due to the WB/CW’s weird programming time), we’re now fully hooked.

The teaser trailer for Season 10 – reminded us of how much we’ve missed so, in honor of the final season, we’re going to get all nine seasons and watch ’em all (on rain days, late nights, weekends..). Getting all nine seasons is no small task or expense — though Amazon has some decent pricing that we might be taking advantage of, if we can’t get this cheaper at our local Blockbuster.

Star Wars Clone Adventures now Available – for Free! and no don’t bother to pay for it.. September 15, 2010

Star Wars Clone Wars Adventures is now LIve!! But don’t expect an Old Republic type MMO – that’s now what this is about — at least as far as we’ve seen so far.

There is a ‘second life’ type of lobby where users can chat(?), though we’re not sure of the point. Really what Clone Wars Adventures looks and feels like to us at this point is a glorified portal for a whole bunch of reasonably decent games.

Yeaah it’s fun, but MMO in the regular sense – it’s not. But hey we’ll be in there until Old Republic does come out…

Walter Koenig – best know as the actor behind Pavel Chekov in Star Trek and Alfred Bester in Babylon 5 turns 74 years old today.

Happy Birthday!!!

To us, we’ll always remember a few key ‘Chekov’ moments. Yes there were some brilliant moments in the classic Star Trek

But for better (or not) there is of course  the ‘nuclear wessels’ line – which I don’t think that Koenig will ever live down..

And for the classic fans …here’s a great collection of Chekov’s Russian ‘isms..

One more reason to be excited for the return of ABC’s new V series.
Diana – the original commander from the original V series/miniseries is coming back!

Jane Badler told TV Guide that,'” .. this is an entirely different take on Diana — reimagined as the wicked mother of Anna (Morena Baccarin).”

Nice.

If you want to revisit the original Diana …enjoy the clip of Diana at her finest..

Yes we’re real excited for the start of the 1.5 season of Caprica in a few weeks. Syfy now has a few teaser trailers up …this one is our fav.

We all know where this is headed – Cylons becoming sentient and attacking humans..but it’ll be interesting to see how this all gets pulled back with the original cylons – the final five – from Battlestar Galactica.

Star Wars Clone Wars Animated Season 3 Kicks off this week September 13, 2010

Hard to believe that Star Wars Clone Wars has been on the air for over two years now…but it’s True!

Season Three starts this week!  It seems like just yesterday we paid to see the pilot movie in the theater too… (BTW, Amazon has decent pricing on Season 2 and Season 1 if you need to catch up)

Clone Wars Animated has been an awesome series so far, giving us a different viewpoint on Anakin Skywalker and introducing us to worlds that we’ve never seen before (but read about).

And of course, how can we talk about Clone Wars without mentioning Ashoka Tano?

With Ashoka we have perhaps the brightest new character addition to the Star Wars universe outside of the 6 movies.

We’ve also gotten a more personal view of the clones with Captain Rex and crew.

For Season three it looks like we might see the end of Asaj Ventress and the return of a creature that looks a whole lot like Darth Maul!!! We can hardly wait…

Stephen King The Dark Tower headed to big and little screens September 9, 2010

It looks like at long last, Stephen King’s The Dark Tower saga is going to get  dramatic treatment.

How the frak the massive canon that is Dark Tower will be delivered on screen is beyond our small brains. Apparently there will be at least three movies and also a TV series to help fill in the blanks.

In our view, trying to capture the brilliance that is Dark Tower on screen will be an impossible task.

Then again, we’ve been big fans of Marvel’s Dark Tower comic book prequel…so is Universal Pictures could start there, we’d be pretty stoked.

Syfy – may the gods bless you!

SO SAY WE ALL!!

Syfy has moved the return of Caprica up from January to October!!

That’s right, we won’t have to wait until 2011 for our Caprica fix.

“Though we initially announced the January return of Caprica, we still had hopes of finding a way to get the series back on the air sooner,” said Mark Stern, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, Syfy and Co-Head of Content for Universal Cable Productions in a statement. “We’ve been able to successfully re-work our schedule, and are thrilled to bring the show back during what is traditionally Syfy’s most-watched time of the year. The outcome should also please fans who expressed their wishes for a shorter mid-season hiatus.”

Remember how season 1.0 ended…we’ve got a cliffhanger with the Cylon get blown up, Daniel losing his military contract, his wife killing herself……lots to look forward to in October!!

The other great thing is that Caprica will now be on the same night as Stargate Universe, with one show following the other.

So starting in October, Tues is now SYFY night for us!

Star Wars The Old Republic Threat of Peace comic isn’t as Epic as the video game trailer September 7, 2010

Like everyone else, we’re eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Star Wars The Old Republic MMO game this year (we hope!).

So we’re gobbling up every little tidbit we can, including the Dark Horse comic book series.

The first story arc of the Old Republic comic, a three issue set titled, “Threat of Peace” has now wrapped up — and we’re not too impressed.

The basic storyline is solid, a Sith/Jedi truce and the various factions, both Sith and Jedi that want to see the truce ended before it really begins.

The problem is that the story as told in this comic is very disjointed and is extremely difficult to follow. Don’t bother trying to read individual issues of this series, they simply don’t make sense. As a complete story arc – that’s a bit better as the single cell (or page) context makes more sense across three issues.

Long story short is that the Jedi themselves were trying to undercut the Sith/Jedi treaty. That part of the story was kiinda cool, but the delivery overall is weak.

The art is also relatively weak in this series and isn’t at the same level that we’re used to from Dark Horse. Perhaps we just have unrealistic expectation for this series, since the LucasArts/BioWare trailers for The Old Republic have been so awesome so far.

What if Superman’s Family Came with him when Krypton Exploded? August 27, 2010

We’ve long been big fans of alternate universes/history.

Now we’ve got (yet another) Superman alternate reality, this time it’s one in which Jor-El didn’t send his baby son Kal-El to Earth all alone.

This time the whole El family comes to Earth!

It’s a great twist to see how things develop and how the Kent’s still find a way to be involved in the storyline.

Instead of a Fortress of Solitude – there is the El Tower – and a ship with a 12th level intelligence..

and oh yeaaaah at the end of this first issue..Kal-El ends up with a pair of siblings too.

Brilliant storytelling and magnificent artwork makes this a must-read for all Superman fans.

Star Wars Legacy #49 – What Now Dark Horse???? July 12, 2010

It’s hard to believe and accept that Star Wars Legacy is almost done.
Issue #49 is the second last issue and there is so much left undiscovered and unresolved.
So we’ve got Cade still on a Sith killing mission and that’s great, he’s now on Utapau knocking down the sith and he’ll come in contact with the Galactic Alliance too for the first time in…oh what 50 issues?!!

The Princess Fel being held by her former Imperial Knight master – now turned Sith – is kinda of a neat twist too..but with so much going on , it’s impact is marginal.

How will this series end? Will Fel return to control? Where is Krayt? Will Cade Skywalker become the Emperor?

so very many things going on..this series could AND SHOULD continued for a very long time.

It’s a shame and a travesty that Dark Horse is ending this series at #50. They’ve promised some kind of surprise — so we’ll see what they’ve got in store…but seeing as Legacy is without a doubt ..THE GREATEST STAR WARS COMIC OF ALL TIME …we doubt they’ll surprise us.

Doctor Who : Vincent and the Doctor paint an amazing scifi picture July 11, 2010

yeaah we know, we’re not as fast as those in the UK when it comes to watching Doctor Who — and sure we’re even behind BBC America too…We’re getting out Doctor Who fix by buying episodes from Amazon now and we’re up to — Vincent and the Doctor

What a great episode that works on so many different levels. Sure it’s always great to see the Doctor visit historical figures but the twist with the blind ‘monster alien’ was neat on so many levels.

The fact that Vincent van Gough could also detect Amy’s pain (at the loss of Rory even though she didn’t know it..) was also a neat twist. We didn’t see a crack in the wall in this episode (or did we?), but hey a fine entertaining episode…

and we don’t recall seeing that device (mirror and printer) that could identify objects, though it sure seemed like a throwback to something the Doctor might have used in the 1960’s…

Back in May, GPS vendor TomTom released their first Star Wars themed GPS voices – with a Darth Vader module.

Now they’re moving away for the Dark Side with a new Yoda voice that is soo amazing you too will use the Force to find your destination.

As was the case with the Darth Vader GPS module, the good folks at TomTom have put together a behind the scenes video with the 900 year old Jedi Master himself.

Superman #700 What’s Next after New Krypton? July 7, 2010

Superman #700 – wow..how many titles last so long?

This is an omnibus with a few interesting stories – and a few not so interesting ones.

There is a ‘cute’ little story about Superman helping out Robin (Dick Grayson) which we enjoyed.

On the – not so enjoyable side — Superman after the monumental events of New Krypton – has some second thoughts about his hero stature..after a woman whose husband he could not save slaps him.

Look – superman can’t save everyone right? So why did he get so down?

This is the direction of the new Superman creative team – and NO WE DON’T LIKE IT.

New Krypton was an awesome story arc – but a moody superman that is examining his own shortcomings isn’t a superman that we personally find all that entertaining.

Legion of Super Heroes #2 Interesting but Also Very Confusing July 6, 2010

Legion of Super Heroes #2 is an interesting – though confusing issue.

Saturn Girl is still looking for here missing kids and then out of nowhere we get Saturn Queen wrecking the Legion with her mind control.

Saturn Queen?

The writers seem to be on a bent to introduce as many legionaires as possible in every issue and that’s a challenge for us as readers – trying to keep it all straight.

No we’re not giving up on this series (yet), but a bit more focus, would make this a whole lot more enjoyable.
