It’s finally here.
SO SAY WE ALL.
This highly anticipated chapter in the Battlestar Galactica saga takes place in the midst of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, gifted fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino, The Borgias), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and hungry for action, Adama quickly finds himself at odds with his co-pilot, the battle-weary officer Coker (Ben Cotton, Alcatraz). With only 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle as much as Adama craves its onset. Lili Bordán (Silent Witness) also stars.
First episode is now up on Machinima:

In March of this year, SyFy (you know that network that used to be SciFi Channel and now doesn’t support any real SciFi) CANCELLED the Battlestar Galactica spinoff – Blood and Chrome.
Turns out though that a full pilot has already been produced and we can all see it on Friday November 9th — or at least start to see it.
You see the plan from the braniacs at Syfy is to have Blood and Chrome show up as a webisode series. Remember, that back in February of 2011, SyFy green lit the two hour pilot. At the time SyFy wrote:
Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome takes place in the 10th year of the first Cylon war. As the battle between humans and their creation, the sentient robotic Cylons, rages across the 12 colonial worlds, a young, talented fighter pilot, William Adama (Luke Pasqualino), finds himself assigned to one of the most powerful Battlestars in the Colonial fleet: the Galactica. Full of ambition and in pursuit of the intense action that the Cylon war promises, Adama quickly find himself at odds with Coker (Ben Cotton), the battle-weary officer to whom he reports. With 47 days left in his tour of duty, Coker desires an end to battle just as much as Adama craves the start of it. Though they clash at first, the two men forge an unlikely bond when a routine mission turns dangerous and becomes a pivotal one for the desperate fleet.
Joining Pasqualino and Cotton in the cast is Lili Bordan, who will play Dr. Beka Kelly, a Ph.D. who worked for Graystone Industries that created the Cylon robots. Currently assigned to a secret military mission, Beka and Adama quickly establish a rapport.
Battlestar Galactica also has a history with Webisodes. Back in 2008, when the show was in one of its lost intra-season hiatuses, we got an aweome webisode series called ‘Face of the Enemy‘. Even earlier, back in 2007 we had the Razor Flashback webisodes, including one that serves as the touchstone for what Blood and Chrome is all about. Adama fighting in the first Cylon war.
We can hardly wait to see Blood and Chrome – and it’s hard to believe that SyFy did not go ahead and produce a full series.

Really interesting blog up on Star Wars.com the other day – the short version is that Lucas as early as 1976 planned on doing at least 12 Star Wars movies.
He even asked Mark Hamill (aka Luke Skywalker) about having a role in Episode 9.
“
You know, when I first did this, it was four trilogies,” Mark Hamill recalled in 2004, speaking of their conversation in 1976. “Twelve movies! Out on the desert, any time between setups… lots of free time. And George was talking about this whole thing… ‘Um, how’d you like to be in Episode IX?’ ‘When is that going to be?’ ‘2011.’ […] I said, ‘Well, what do you want me to do?’ He said, ‘You’ll just be like a cameo. You’ll be like Obi-Wan handing the lightsaber down to the next new hope.’”
Star Trek Typhon Pact Brinkmanship – REVIEW – the Tzenkethi are rat bastards November 2, 2012

The Typhon Pact series of Star Trek books have been all about the political machinations for the Alpha Quandrant powers and this book is no different. Brinkmanship though, unlike all the other Typhon Pact books is only about one power, the Tzenkethi. That’s right almost no romulans, tholians or gorn in this book.
and that’s fine.
We learn a lot about the Tzenkethi, a race we barely know.
The best part of this book though is the pacing. From beginning to the end, this book has a flow that is driven by the approaching ships coming to the Venetan base. It’s a simple literary trick, but it works.
the only part that really didn’t quite up for us, was how the Federation was able to convince the Venetans that the Tzenkethi shouldn’t bring the ships in. It’s the point at which the plot pivots and it’s a bit weak. But we’ll forgive the author..becuase it almost doesn’t matter. This book is about characters and setting the actual final resolution is almost incidental.
Overall, a great read for fans of Typhon Pact series.

Disney is serious about Star Wars – sure they announced in the press release that we’d get Star Wars Episode 7 – but during a call with press and analysts, Disney’s CEO promised:
Star Wars Episodes 8, 9 AND 10!!!
“The last Star Wars movie release was 2005’s Revenge of the Sith and we believe there is substantial pent up demand,” Robert A. Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company said during the call. “In 2015 we are planning to release Star Wars episode 7 , that will be followed by episodes 8 and 9 and our long term plan is to release a new star wars feature film every two to three years.”

George Lucas ‘ THE MAKER’ has sold out LucasFilm to Mickey Mouse for $4 Billion.
Not totally shocking that the sale was made to Disney given that Lucasfilm and Disney have had a relationship for nearly two decades.
The price – only $4 billion is a shocker. We have previously written that Star Wars was worth approx $30 billion over its lifespan so the $4billion figure sure seems cheap.
Aside from the ownership change though the bigger news is that
STAR WARS EPISODE VII IS SET FOR RELEASE IN 2015!!!!
That’s right there is life after Anakin Skywalker’s death.
For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” said George Lucas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lucasfilm. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products.”

Someone is going to die in Fringe Season 5 and it’s not going to be pretty.
In an interview this week Joshua Jackson (Peter Bishop) gave out some stunning teasers.
This is what he said:
We have a scene — with a character who I will not name, doing a thing I can’t tell you about — where [a dangerous] scenario plays out. It’s just a small, quotidian thing. [But] one break from the routine leads to disaster. I mean, really f–king major disaster. And if that sense of dread permeates the show this year, I think that’s really good
That’s gotta be Etta right? What other epic disaster? Olivia dead? a major city gone?

ok so there was nothing else on and we gave Revolution another shot.

We don’t know much about this PSY-Gangnam style viral craze…but we do know that it’s now passed into our world…
truly brilliantly done parody – though there is only one Klingon in this…then a bunch of Federation types, a vulcan and a Mr. Data android type…and oh yeah even a Tribble (that our friendly Klingon crushed and drowned..). The subtle touches like the tri-level chess board, NCC-1701 license plate on the car,…. just exceptional overall.
and oh yeah it’s not just a Star Trek theme…the whole PSY song is sung in its original Klingon too!!
Q’uplah!
Good fun…Klingon style
Fringe Season 5 Episode 1: The Battle to Save Mankind is About to Begin – Awesome episode September 28, 2012

Fringe Season Five Episode one was one solid episode.
The year is 2036 and the battle to save mankind is about to begin. Wow what a great way to set the tone for a season. This isn’t a show about ‘fringe’ events anymore it’s a year-long final season battle against the observers.
And how about those observers, brutal and almost Borg – like.
one of them even said – Resistance is Futile !
The nice family reunion between Peter, Olivia and Henrietta was also really dramatic and impactful. Sure was funny that the amber gypsies sold Olivia and then the dude used her as a coffee table…
and as always it’s the little things that make sense in this show – like the Dandelion on the otherwise grey street at the end of the episode as Walter listens to music and restores his brain.
Now how will the resistance fight back? How will Henrietta keep her job at Fringe? We’ve got a full season to find out!

The content is solid – and lots of interesting discussion about that state of SciFi today

The upcoming Fantastic Four reboot is getting some real talent behind it.
From the press release:
“As someone who has spent his entire life obsessed with both comic-books and movies, this is essentially my dream gig as it’s a unique combination of both,” stated Millar. “I spent ten years working at Marvel and am really happy with the work I did on the comic side of things so the idea of working with these characters now in a brand new medium is enormously exciting for me. I really like the Fox team, love this bold new direction they have for their franchises and am proud to be working alongside some of modern cinema’s biggest talents. James Mangold is incredible, Matthew Vaughn’s one of my closest pals and Josh Trank gave us, in my opinion, one of the greatest superhero movies of the last decade with Chronicle. The invitation to join this crew was maybe the coolest phone-call I’ve ever had.”About Mark Millar
Mark Millar is the writer of Civil War, Marvel’s biggest-selling series of the fifteen years, Ultimate X-Men, Wolverine: Old Man Logan, Spider-Man, Ultimate Fantastic Four and The Ultimates (described by Time magazine in 2010 as the best comic series of the decade).

The Big Bang Theory, Season 6 – The Big Bang Theory started off tonight with more of a whimper than a truly Big Bang.
Yeaah it was funny and it was great to see the inside of the International Space Station…
but no truly memorable scenes or lines in this episode.
how come none of the gang called up to ISS? Why doesn’t Sheldon have some massive experiment of his own that he sent along with Walowitz? surely that great Dr. Sheldon Cooper had something he wanted in space…?!
Anyways still good fun, we laughed (a little) and as always this still remains one of our favorite shows of the week.

Yes we loved the first three seasons of Fringe.
We did not like (most of) Season 4 though – it just didn’t make sense – did it?
that’s why we can’t hardly wait for Season 5 to get started…it has a chance to right the wrongs of Season4 and end this show on string of awesomeness.
The first three seasons were all about the ‘pattern’ the alternate universe and closing the gap. The fourth was about….? what? it was all over the place. If the show had ended right at the end of the third season it would have worked for us.
But the show still has legs, Walter is still an amazing character (as are peter and olivia) and the future world where Peter has just been thawed out from the amber that Season 4 will be all about is really really cool.
here’s our first sneak peak at the first episode and it’s looking sharp. Fringe, Season 5 – Fringe starts this Friday.

ok so Maul is back – he’s out with his brother and he’s looking to get revenge…
simple plot?
Not Quite.
You see the dude that wanted Maul dead isn’t so nice, even though the Jedi support him.
So in one of the greatest twists we have seen in a Star Wars comic in some time….
DARTH MAUL IS NOW ON THE RIGHT SIDE.
Maul is now going to help the displaced inhabitants of a planet against their Jedi backed overseers.
Nice twist.
Well executed plot, stunning graphics and an overall vibe made this a comic that we impossible for us to put down before reading cover to cover…
twice!!
