wow…Dark Horse has really cranked up KOTOR lately …sure the Vector storyline that concluded in the last issue was tremendous — but this new story arc looks pretty cool too.
After all Zayne is finally going after the Covenant.
The only problem -AND ITS A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THIS KRIFING SERIES IS THE ART – Zayne is drawn completely differently but i’m kinda used to that..
But Jarael?? She is unrecognizable.
Doesn’t anyone have a style guide at Dark Horse? Is there no quality control?
Inconsistent character art aside – a great start to what will hopefully be the final resolution of Zayne and the Covenant’s attempt to pin the Padawan murders on him.
Serenity : Better Days #3 REVIEW June 4, 2008

So this is how Better Days ends…in typical Firefly fashion it’s an ending that leaves as many question as it answers.
Yes this was a good series but this last issue had a few flaws….
Like who was that guy that got fired from his job and then went nuts shooting at Alliance and Dirt Devil alike?
That was just odd.
Then in the end they’re all ‘just good’ seems a little strange but then again that’s the quirkiness that makes Firefly interesting.
The ending of this little series just felt a little rushed but then again maybe that’s just cause we want more Firefly.
I can hardly wait till the next Firefly Serenity series is out later this year which should be a focus just on the Shepard.
Terminator 4 Will Have New Skynet Toys Hunting Humans June 4, 2008

I remember the first vision of the post Judgment Day world…from the original (and still the best) Terminator. Reese and the resistance were fleeing from the HK’s – the hunter killer flying machines that Skynet deployed to destroy the resistance.
No word yet on whether or not the HKs will be in Terminator 4 – but we will see some other Skynet human hunting tech.
Director McG blogged that:
This movie takes place several years after Judgment Day, but prior to 2029. Just like it took a long time to get an HD plasma screen in our world, it took Skynet a lot of research and development to get to the T-800, and this movie explores that “space between.” We have all been fascinated with the world after Judgment Day. Here it is.
In this film, there are Hydrobots that patrol the water, Transports that move human prisoners around, Harvesters that collect human beings as lab rats for Skynet and Aerostats that survey all that is going on with the resistance the world over.
No HKs but still sounds kinda cool
Torchwood Gets Torched by BBC with Only 5 new episodes for 2009 June 3, 2008

We’re not big Torchwood fans here at ShowMeSciFi.com but it is a show that can grow on you…that is if it were allowed to grow.
The braniacs that run BBC have somehow decided that for season 3 of Torchwood there will only be five episodes.
What’s the POINT?! And how do these people get jobs working with SciFi? They obviously just want to taunt fans and drive audience interest down.

WOW.
Talk about an episode that changes EVERYTHING.
From beginning to end this episode had more plot twists and turns than any other episode in the previous four years of Battlestar Galactica
First off when they rushed the Six (that Athena shot) into Doc Coddle area, we figured they were rushing her there to save here…and she’d survive – NOPE.
Tigh impregnating Caprica Six!!!! Who saw that coming???!! WOW.
Adm Bill ‘Husker’ Adama relinquishing command? aNOTHER FRAKIN wow.
Tigh – a FRAKING CYLON SKIN JOB – taking command of the fleet!!
Lee Adama as President???!! where did that come from..
And Lampkin’s cat?? Did we just imagine the cat the whole time? (seeing at it had been dead??)
Just a lot of stuff to digest in one epsiode…this season sure did start of slow but man oh man has it picked up the pace now. This one episode of intense dramatic shift makes it all worthwhile doesn’t it?

So we’ve waited and waited and still no new season of Chad Vader.
Not sure if the folks at Lucasfilm put the kybosh on it or if the Blame Society ppl are just too busy (the dude that is the voice of Chad Vader is the voice of Darth Vader in Star Wars The Force Unleashed).
Though we don’t have a new season there is a new ‘training video’ out – A Spy In Produce – funny stuff ..check it out:

Not sure how to classify this other than….i saw it and figure ShowMeSciFi readers might want to know.
There is an interesting photo spread of the girls of Battlestar Galactica in Interview Magazine -(click to see the full size). I guess BSG producer are desperate for ratings? Or maybe Katee Sackhoff, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park just wanted to show a uh… different side of their personalities…(seeing as personality is what you see in these pics right?).

Guess what? Edward James Olmos – Admiral “husker” Adama himself is now saying that the end of Battlestar Galactica is going to be a real shocker.
“It’s not a happy ending, we end up with almost nothing,” Olmos told SciFiNow.
Neat.
Guess that means they don’t find Earth and they just end up blowing each other up and the Cylon win!

The fourth and final issue for Knights of the Old Republic’s Vector story arc is pretty decent issue.
Though we’re not fans of the really caricature/cartoony style of art – the panel flow here was great.
From a plot perspective Celeste becoming an instrument of the Sith and then being entombed on the planet is cool.
Obviously she’s going to reappear in the next Vector installment which should be in Dark Times – i’d bet that after having been stuck in that thing for a few thousand years she’s not going to be too happy when she gets out.
As far as KOTOR goes – finally it looks like Zayne has got is posse together and he’s going after the Covenant. FINALLY.
Next issue should be a real keeper!

Looks like Zachary Quinto – the new Spock for Star Trek XI – is a Star Trek fan.
woohoo.
In an interesting interview on SciFi Wire Quinto reveals that he thinks the new Trek will ‘honor’ classic Trek.
He also almost slips into his Vulcan character during the interview, by referring to the process as being ‘logical’.
“I always do that,” he said. “When I’m going to say the word ‘logical,’ and then I stop myself. There are certain things that I can no longer do with as much ease as I used to. Using the word logical is one of them.”

Filming is now in full swing for Terminator 4 officially known as: Terminator Salvation : The Future Begins.
The movie’s director blogged the other day about what will make T4 different:
Everything we’re shooting is designed to be tactile and real, you’ll be seeing a whole set of inspired designs you’ve never seen before, and best of all you’ll finally get to see some of the post-judgment day future that was only hinted at in the previous movies.
To give us a small taste – T4’s director has also released some early concept art of what L.A will look like:

Just when you thought Star Wars Legacy couldn’t get any better – or more complex – it does.
Uncle Nate Skywalker just added a whole new dimension.
Cade kinda/sort looks like Uncle Nate and it’s kinda cool to see that Cade isn’t the only Skywalker of the Legacy era to have gone the rough and tumble route. There was no indication whatsoever at the end of Legacy #23 that Nate was a Skywalker or Cade’s real uncle.
We finally find out a little more about why Cade didn’t know about his mother…and we get a little bit of insight into Cade’s upbringing…
Oh and a nifty new former ‘beau?’ from the Jedi Academy who is really an Imperial Knight. Wicked cool stuff.
It looks like we finally might see Cade come face to face with the Princess and (maybe Roan Fel too) after what seems like a 14 issues hiatus.

*Warning* The following review may contain material that some might consider to spoiler material * Read at your risk*
Star Wars Legacy of the Force started out as one of the best Star Wars series in recent years – and now with Invincible it has apparently come to a conclusion. The only problem is the final resolution (after 7 books of building to it) really doesn’t solve the deep and intricate political problems that this series was originally all about.
Invincible follows , Revelation, Fury, Sacrifice, Exile, Betrayal , Bloodlines and Tempest. That’s a lot of books and a lot of action, drama, intrigue and new developments in the Star Wars Expanded Universe.
Legacy of the Force started with the split of the Galactic Alliance with the spinoff of the Correllian Confederation. That was an awesome plot line angle and one that carried nicely in every book in this series – EXCEPT FOR THE LAST ONE!. Magically at the end of this one – everything is ok…when the premise of why the Confederation existed in the first place had nothing at all to do with Jacen Solo.
Yes this series from beginning till end was about Jacen Solo – his decent into the dark side, becoming Darth Caedus, becoming the Chief of State, taking out his rival Admiral Niathal, killing his Aunt Mara Jade, and become a hated man by everyone in the Galaxy including his family.
Where was Niathal in Invincible? (he was invisible). Where was Mara Jade (not even a Force Ghost?? come on)
So after all the build up on multiple plot lines – the only one that the final book resolves is the one involving Jacen Solo / Darth Caedus. This series was more intricate than being about just one man or problem. It’s a krifing shame that there weren’t a few extra chapters in this very short book to just even out the ending a bit. Admiral Daala is only mentioned in the third person yet someone she rises to become leader of a new unified Galactic Alliance – HUh? (What about the Senate don’t they get a say??)
But the big plot line – the one that we’ve known about since February of this year is that the Sword of the Jedi would defeat Caedus. And yes I was totally stoked by the kill.
Despite the other issues I have with this book – being the last book of an awesome series that doesn’t do justice by not clearing up plot line development – the end of Caedus was cool.
He let the sentence trail off as the door opened on its own, revealing a dark-uniformed woman with an athletic build and brown, furious eyes.
“Jaina?”
A light saber snap-hissed to life, and suddenly Caedus felt as though he were going to vomit fire….
…
Jaina came to a knee facing him and knew Caedus was about to die. He had one arm and one good leg, and they were not even on the same side of the body. He could not pivot and he could not retreat.”
How awesome is that?! Sure you could think of it like the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Quest for the Holy Grail (“It’s only a flesh wound!)..but still kinda cool and solid story telling. Too bad it was not the full story conclusion that this series really deserved.

Let’s all be honest here – T3 sucked.
T4 if the early plot is any indication …not so much. Filming is already underway and Warner Bros has a release out with some nifty details:
In the highly anticipated new installment of The Terminator film franchise, set in post-apocalyptic 2018, Christian Bale stars as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

Is it just me or is does this serious just make no sense?
Sure it’s early – we’re only at issue#2 but writer Peter David has already lost me. It doesn’t help much that this issue has so very few actual story pages in either.
I’d guess that nearly 1/3rd of this comic book is ads !!
Considering that IDW charges $3.99 an issue ..i’m not sure that it actually makes sense to buy this series by the issue – if you haven’t gotten into – DON’T.

Not far now…. Season 5 of Stargate Atlantis is now set to return to SciFi on July 11th. Early indications based on a number of reports is that we’ll be seeing alot of the Wraith this season.
We’ll also be seeing at least four episode with Dr. Carson Beckett , and we know that Col. Carter will be relinquishing command of Atlantis in favor of Wolesly (Robert Picardo) at some point.
And of course T’eyla (who was pregnant last season) now will have a baby that will get worked into the storyline too.

It looks like there could be as many as three new Terminator movies in the works — all focussed on humanity’s leader John Connor beating the machines led by SkyNet.
According to the BBC, Christian Bale (who has already signed up for Terminator 4: Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins) has actually signed up for three Terminator films.
So we’ll have a T4, T5 and T6.
Here’s our guess at a few titles for T5 and T6…
Terminator 5: SkyNet Strikes Back
Terminator 6: Revenge of the Humans

The song that Felix Gaeta sings after he loses his leg in the last episode of Battlestar Galactica 4×7 is one of the most stunning and haunting songs in modern scifi history.
Now the dude that wrote the sheet music and the lyrics for the song – Gaeta’s Lament – Bear McCreary has blogged extensively about the song, how he put it together and what it all means.
* Alone she sleeps in the shirt of man
* With my three wishes clutched in her hand
* The first that she be spared the pain
* That comes from a dark and laughing rain
When she finds love may it always stay true
* This I beg for the second wish I made too
* But wish no more
* My life you can take
* To have her please just one day wake
