A webisode based series can make the jump to TV. Just ask the producers of the steampunk phenomenon Riese.
SyFy will begin airing Riese:Kingdom Falling on October 26th
““We saw Riese and thought they had done just an amazing job, and then we were able to give them some resources and bring Amanda on board to really help them take the series to the next level,” Craig Engler, Senior Vice President/General Manager, Syfy Digital said in a statement. ” I think new and existing fans will love the relaunch of the series on Syfy.com and enjoy all the new additions.”
Eleysia is a dying kingdom where resources are dwindling and compassion is fading. Distrust and anxiety have clouded people’s minds, causing a regression into primitive ways of thinking. People have grown restless, almost feral. Rituals and mythology have resurged, and the darker side of mankind has begun to reveal itself.
Riese (Christine Chatelain), a wanderer, travels across the decaying lands of Eleysia with her wolf, Fenrir. Marked as a heretic by religious group The Sect and the new Empress, Amara, Riese must evade their assassins and discover their true intentions for Eleysia.
Riese is the Crown Princess of Eleysia, forced to flee into the wilds after her family was slaughtered. She will soon serve as a catalyst for a disparate group of supposed heretics, the Resistance, launching them into civil war.

Supergirl is back – well
she’s not called Supergirl – but the Daily Planet’s headline – The Maiden of Might – was kinda neat.
Laura Vandervoort – as Kara – El is awesome and it’s fantastic to see her back on Smallville.
From a story perspective – why is Kal-El such a wimp? Is Kara that much better? Why can’t the dude fly?
The whole leather/sado/maso thing with Lois Lane was interesting too.
But why is Oliver revealing his secret? How could he possibly continue as Green Arrow now?

Caprica – Unvanquished – so is Amanda Graystone dead or not? October 9, 2010

So Caprica is finally back – with –Unvanquished no this was not a fantastic episode.
First of all, it feels like we’re missing something ..in between the final episode of season one – before the 1.5 start – greystone still controlled his own company and Amanda Greystone jumped off a bridge.
Now Daniel lost his company – ok we see that..but how? and now whats the deal with the Tauron mafia?
Amanda Greystone is dead right? Sister Clarice is just visiting her in holobands…she must be right??
Overall, this was a boring episode with little to no action (blowing up the Caprica stadium was kinda neat) and the drama was disconnected.
Die-hard fans like will stick it out, but after such a weak premiere for season 1.5, we doubt this show will gain any new converts.

Aftermath
HURRAY Rush finally unlocked the code to the Destiny’s control room….but are those visions he sees or is Destiny actually trying to speak to him?
We think it’s a bit of both.
All issues about the ability of the ship to fall out of warp aside, what about the food replicator type capabilities of the ship? Shouldn’t he have been focusing on fixing that too?
By far the most disturbing part of the show was the mercy kill – yes it was understandable, but no that’s not what we want to see. It could have just been a cutaway shot of some kind we didn’t actually have to see the suffocation, that was unnecessarily graphic.
So what is the other ship? clearly another ancient ship, but what is its purpose?
IAIN M. BANKS – MATTER – The Shellworld Review — yeah it’s long but it’s another awesome Culture novel October 7, 2010

We just finished reading Ian M. Banks massive tome Matter and like most culture books, it has made us think about alot of things.
As we’ve experienced before with Banks, there are some amazing SciFi constructs – in this book we’re introduced to the concept of a Shellworld, with layers of diff civilizations living on each and are introduced to the Mothanveld, an Optimae species nearly on par with the Culture.
At the beginning until nearly the end, we thought this would be a book about revenge – and even thought that was Ferbin and Djan’s goal – that didn’t quite happen did it?
But the ending was entirely satisfying and typically Banks. No, there wasn’t a major revelation at the end of this massive book, but it did makes sense and did leave us with the same sense we get whenever we get to the end of a Culture book.
AMAZING.
The deeper level of meaning in this book – about Matter – that there are levels within levels and it’s never clear who is being played by whom, is weaved so brilliantly into this book – it’s the very fabric of the multiple plots and subplots.
Sure, we ran into some sections that were over-written and sure we skipped over graphs here and there, that just went on and on and on. But the story, the characters, the new tech and the intense drama of wanting to know what would happen next makes Matter an awesome read.
Our fav Culture book still remains the first – Consider Phelbas, the ending of Use of Weapons still remains the greatest twist, the Special Circumstances sub-plot in Look to Windward is still better as is SC’s devious game playing in The Player of Games.
Matter fits well into the Culture canon – giving us a new look into the larger Galaxy, SC and a new type of world view.
Banks is the greatest SciFi writer of this generation and he continues to deliver with Matter. Yes the size of the book might look intimidating, but it’s worth the effort.

Caprica is back and this half season – technically season 1.5 – will see the Cylons join the mob.
In an interview with press, Sasha Roiz, the fine actor that plays Sam Adama gave up the details:
“I think you’ll see a lot of people interacting with Cylons,” Roiz said. “I think it’s
basically what we’re driving towards is the introduction of the Cylons into this world. And so it’s going to definitely cross paths with just about everybody’s storylines.”
ShowMeSciFi.com was also on the call with Roiz and we picked out the best bits in the clip below:

Episode 2 of the final season of Smallville was another solid episode – officially titled Shield
saw the return of Michael Shanks aka Daniel Jackson aka Hawkman – and that was reason enough to watch this show.
The whole discussion of Nietche’s Ubermench — the Superman – was awesome and show the depth that this show truly has.
Cat Grant was interesting and Deadshot is one sharpshooting villain.
Great stuff (and if you missed it Amazon has it on demand)

Intervention
was a fine way to start the new season of SGU.
Tonnes of action.
Lots of drama
Great Acting
Haunting music.
What more can we ask for?
TJ’s baby being safe on the outcast planet is a great subplot storyline that will yield some interesting results. The Aliens that saved her baby (that live in the nebula like cloud?) are likely some kind of ascended beings…likely Ancients (or Atlantians?)
Having the ex-Leutian alliance ppl on boards as kinda/sorta friendlies is also a great twist that will further heighten the drama. So we’ve got Earther’s, Leutians, civilians and military. Nice.
The Stargate franchise has lasted as long as it has for only one reason – the writers keeping find ways to keep the show fresh. With SGU season 2, they’re off to a great start.

Nice.
That’s a neat twist that has lots of dramatic potential.
The olivia from the other side is also really interesting –yeah she’s an evil beeatch, but she’s still cool isn’t she?
And why was the components of the mega weapon on the wrong side? And why is Peter the key to making it work?

YUP yet another version of Star Wars – this time it’ll literally jump out of the screen.
Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace is expected to be released theatrically in 2012. A release date has not yet been determined.
“Getting good results on a stereo conversion is a matter of taking the time and getting it right,” said John Knoll, Visual Effects Supervisor for Industrial Light & Magic. “It takes a critical and artistic eye along with an incredible attention to detail to be successful. It is not something that you can rush if you want to expect good results. For Star Wars we will take our time, applying everything we know both aesthetically and technically to bring audiences a fantastic new Star Wars experience.”

Smallville Season 10 Episode 1 –Lazarus was a decent way to kick off the final season of Smallville.
Alot revolves around the whole idea of Kal-El finally putting on the costume – leaving the Blur behind and finally becoming superman – this is the season when it MUST happen and this first episode set that tone.
Why is Jor-El such a jerk? We don’t know…but he sure came off that way moreso this episode than before…and the whole Tess with the boy version of Lex thing was a little….weird too.
But hey good entertainment and we’re looking forward to great final season!

Season 2 of Stargate Universe/ SGU starts this coming Tuesday and the good folks at SyFy are actively out promoting the show.
ShowMeSciFi.com was on one press call with Ming Na and Lou Diamond Phillips where they talked about their experiences on the show, what its like to be part of Stargate and all kinds of other really lame questions.
There was at least one really great question that was asked – and kinda/sorta answered. The two SGU actors were asked what there favorite Season 2 episode were….
No major spoiler were divulged but Phillips did hint at some massive action to come.
“There is an increased amount of action,” Phillips said. “There is a definite membership out there in fandom that will appreciate the action adventure aspect of some of the episodes coming up– we blow a lot of shit up.”
And here is the actual audio track from the call – where the SGU actors tell us about their fav Season 2 episodes.

Glatterflug – daily flights to the moon?
The other side is an amazing place and there are all kinds of little things that make it different – the glatterflug sign – was one such gem.
But having nearly an entire episode just about Olivia on the other side? yeaaah that was actually alright. Olivia is awesome and one of the key reasons why we watch the show..
The other key reason of course is Dr. Bishop – now having him as the serious secretary of state, just doesn’t work…but that’s the point isn’t it?
Walternate – at the alternate universe Walter – what a great name…

Sheldon is his full glory –amy and sheldon – shayme

We’re not sure that the addition of the Amy character really helps the show that much — but we sure do miss having Penny and Leonard’s boyfriend.
