We all want to know who Darth Krayt is right?
WE’ve been actively debating it here on ShowMeSciFi…and Dark Horse has indicated that in issue #15 the truth will be revealed.
Looks like it’s going to be REAL GOOD.
Star Wars Legacy issues #14-19 will in fact be a six issue story arc simply titled, ‘Claws of the Dragon’ all about Darth Krayt.
From its inception LEGACY has not disappointed and has only gotten better with each issue. With the return of Jan Duursema, for the Krayt story arc and the final truth being revealed about who Darth Krayt actually is, this series is going totally ballistic.
Thank you John Ostrander for penning the finest Star Wars comic book series of all time..someone should name a planet after you.
Terminator 4 Won’t Star the Governator May 10, 2007

Looks like MORE Terminator movies are on the way. According to DarkHorizons Halycyon Co has acquired the rights and is already intending on making a Terminator 4 set for a Summer 2009 release.
Neither creator James Cameron or original star Arnold Schwarzenegger will be involved in the project, which picks up with John Connor in his 30s leading what’s left of the human race against the machines.
Terminator 1 was an awesome movie. T2 was fantastic. T3 SUCKED.
There are some really great Terminator books out there too but they don’t follow into the T3 cannon so there is a divergent set of stories and histories. Will T4 FOLLOW the T3 CANNON? Who knows.
Will the new Dynamite Entertainment Terminator comic book series be related? again unknown.
For a film franchise that started so well with a solid time travel loop story it has gone from Science Fiction to Science NonSense.
Beyond T4 – don’t forget the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV spinoff series is also under development. Again it is unknown if/how it will relate or tie into T4.
Battlestar Galactica Season Zero Issue Zero – The Most Popular BSG comic of all time??? May 9, 2007

The series has barely begun but Battlestar Galactica Season Zero can already lay claim to being the most popular BSG comic book of all time.
How can that be??? It’s only at issue Zero.
EASY.
Dynamite gave issue Zero away.
On Free Comic Book Day.
They gave away …drum roll please…
….
100,000 COPIES
Is it any good? Not really. It’s a pre TV movie era prequel that likely won’t ever be considered to be canon. Adama crosses into Cylon space to rescue a lost expedition and run into..surprise surprise – CYLONS.
Kinda reminds me of the bulldog episode.
Artwork is crap and the story is real baseline. But hey it was FREE.
2 New Star Wars Live Action Movies in the Works!!! May 9, 2007

No it’s not a joke.
George Lucas told a FoxNews reporter that he will make two more live-action films based in the “Star Wars” era.
“But they won’t have members of the Skywalker family as characters,” he said. “They will be other people of that milieu.”
The two extra films will also be made for TV and probably be an hour long each. But, like “Clone Wars,” Lucas doesn’t know where on TV they will land.
WOOHOO!
Technorati Authority?!?! May 8, 2007
Posted by showmescifi in blogging, technorati.1 comment so far

Technorati has recently changed the way they calculate blog links and position. It’s something they call ‘Technorati Authority’.
Personally i think they should just be honest and call it Link Farming.
Technorati used to count how many blogs link to another and how many links in total (including multiples from the same blog). Now in their infinite blogging wisdom they’ve decided to only count total number of blogs for a six month period.
It’s an infantile and amateur approach to measuring authority.
Simply counting links as opposed to counting the authority of those links and volume doesn’t prove anything. If ShowMeSciFi is the linked in the Top Blogs listing on WordPress (which it has been numerous times) that should have more ‘authority’ than if it is linked just once in the Top Blogs listing – it should also have more ‘authority’ than if it gets linked on a link farm.
What would make more sense is something along the lines of how Google’s Page Rank works. Using links alone is what killed search relevancy for all other search engines. I’m not sure why Technorati which has such a strong and solid understanding of the blogging world would degrade itself in this way.
Technorati ‘Authority’ does not reward true authority it awards popularity which is something that can be manipulated.
I hope that Technorati is just doing this as an experiment on a path toward a true ‘authority’ metric that accurately reflects both the popularity, the relevance and the actual ‘Authority’ of a blog.
Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) Returns To SciFi This Saturday! May 8, 2007

Well we all now know that Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck) isn’t actually dead on BSG. AND ShowMeSci readers know that she is a Cylon.
She’s also doing double-time on the SciFi channel with top billing credit in a movie set to air this weekend called – The Last Sentinel.
The basic premise is ‘basic and sorta like BSG, but more like Terminator. Humans build machines to protect them, then the machines turn on them.
“He was mankind’s last defender. Then he lost the will to fight. She (Katee Sackhoff) gave it back to him.”
Set in a deserted and ruined city it tells the story of the last survivors who remain fighting the lost fight against Drones, cultured and raised by mankind. Once again the human race is doomed by uncontrolled exposure to its very own futuristic technologies.
Heavily armed with implants of all kinds Tallis (Don ‘The Dragon’ Wilson, „Bloodfist“, „Blackbelt“), the soldier forms part of the last human array sent out against the predominant antagonists to save the world. Left with no chance at all they have to face a staggering defeat.
Left behind as the only remaining survivor of the disastrous battle Tallis prepares himself to operate discreetly, collect equipment and evade any kind of contact with the enemy from that time on. His pacifistic disposition doesn’t change until he rescues a heavily wounded female rebel (Katee Sackhoff, “Battlestar Galactica”, after being ambushed. Unified, the two of them pit themselves against the forces of evil.
Trailer is below – ENJOY BSG fans!
SpiderMan 3 – Excelsior? May 7, 2007

Like tens of millions of people around the globe this past weekend, I found myself in a theatre watching SpiderMan 3.
The black suit is no stranger for me though. I remember very well when i first read SpiderMan #252 when spidey first puts on the suits in his own title and i remember very well the Secret Wars Issue when he first finds the suit (or the suit finds him). I still own pristine mint copies of both books too.
That the suit can bend its wearer to evil is true to the comic – but of course comic book timelines are MUCH MUCH longer than a movie (though spidey 3 was WAY too long).
The Evil Spidey vs. Good Spidey contrast in the movie reminded me more of how SuperMan 3 treated good SuperMan vs Bad Superman than the way the story unfolded all those years ago in the pages of marvel comics.
In the theatre that I was at, there was plenty of laughter when MJ breaks up with Peter Parker and he starts to cry…and plenty of laaughter when ‘evil’ peter sports his flock of seaguls haircut to indicate he’s different.
Not sure if Sam Raimi intended for people to laugh..this movie isn’t a comedy after all.
Cheesy moments galore in this flic, but lots of good ones too.
Stan Lee (creator of SpiderMan) himself makes a (very) brief appearance, saying something like..’..one man can make a difference if he is the right man. Nuff Said.’
Not quite Stan.
If I had scripted your line i would have added one more word to sum this all up..
EXCELSIOR!!!
USPSjedimaster.com With 18 Days To Go Yoda Rules! May 6, 2007

With only 18 days to go..Yoda is winning in the poll at USPSjedimaster.com..over Darth Vader! This is the contest that’s been running for the last six weeks or so.
Hard to believe..but it’s not over yet..you can vote up to once a day and it’ll be interesting to see who ultimately wins. Not that it really matters though does it?
The US Postal Service will print both Yoda and Vader stamps in the end…but it’s all good fun nonetheless.
Stargate Atlantis 3×14 The Tao of Rodney May 4, 2007

Stargate Atlantis Season 3 episode 14 The Tao of Rodney – is another one of those where a Stargate character gets super-human powers and must get rid of them or will die.
In this episode the ‘victim’ is Rodney and the ‘twist’ is that the super-powers come from an ancient ascension machine…problem is Rodney is neither willing (or apparently able) to ascend.
Sure this kind of thing happens all the time on Stargate (SG-1 or Atlantis), but it’s still decent fun, though not an episode that I’ll likely care to see more than once.

Wow solid episode.
The whole time it has you hanging and second guessing – Is Daniel an Orii lackey or is he telling the truth?
Is disablling the wormhole blocking the supergate a good thing or not?
Is Daniel ‘involved’ with the Orisii Adria?
Much much better than the last bunch of Stargate SG-1 Episodes and one that definately engaged me from beginning till the end…
Not much farther to go…
Robot Chicken Star Wars special Trailer May 3, 2007

Robot Chicken has put out a nice 1 minute trailer for the the upcoming 30 minute special edition Star Wars special.
The trailer reaks a bit of some of the actual Lucasfilm prequel trailer approaches esp with the Vader breath approach from the Episode III trailers.
They also use the George Bush as a Jedi and Aluminum Falcon bit in the trailers – though both are funny I really hope we’re getting 30 mins of new material and not just a rehash of stuff (great though it may be) that they’ve already done.
Without any further ado, below is the 1 min trailer..ENJOY and May The FARK Be With You!
Star Trek: Klingons: Blood Will Tell #1 May 2, 2007

I finally got my hands on the first issue of Star Trek Klingons Blood Will Tell … i wimped out and bought the English language version – as opposed to the Klingon version and was laughed at for being a newbie by my ‘friendly’ TARG of a comics retailer.. The story in English at least is quite basic and attempt to chronicle a sort of history of the Klingons just ahead of the peace treaty that Kirk helps get negotiated in Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country.
Sure i’ll keep buying this series just to see what happens and how they attempt to fill in the blanks..but we all know how it ends up. Klingons and Federation as allies and not heinous enemies. Art in this book is decent here’s a few cells from the Klingon language version. Though it’s in Klingon – the Klingon is transliterated into English. SOOO to prove my warriors mettle..following is a Klingon language translations of this blog post.
Flash Gordon Set to Premiere on August 10th May 1, 2007
Posted by showmescifi in Flash Gordon, flashgordon, science fiction, sciencefiction, scifi.2 comments
Filming on the new Flash Gordon show started today in Vancouver BC and apparently SciFi channel is targeting an August 10th air date.
I doubt very much they can film 22 episodes inside of August 10th so i assume they’re only working on the first few episodes at this point.
We also should already have an indiciation as to what Flash Gordon should look like. SciFi’s upcoming Tin Man series will share the same sets as Flash Gordon for the planet Mongo.
Guess that means that Flash Gordon will look like the Wizard of Oz in outer space then.
Iron Man Live Action Movie set for May 2008 April 30, 2007

Director Jon Favreau confirmed on his blog that the Iron Man movie is going well with at least two Iron Man suits in production for the movie.
The first teaser trailer for the movie could come as soon as the San Diego Comic Con which Favreau will be at.
No doubt Marvel and Favreau and banking on MASSIVE bucks from Spiderman to keep the demand for comic character movies hot. I really REALLY hope they don’t screw it up like Ghost Rider. Iron Man is an awesome character and if this movie is done right with the right plot and real understanding of who/what Iron Man is all about it, we could have another motion picture comic book hero franchise to cheer for.
New Flash Gordon Actor Not a Flash Gordon Fan April 30, 2007
Posted by showmescifi in Flash Gordon, science fiction, sciencefiction, scifi.5 comments
You would think that a character like Flash Gordon that’s been around for more than 70 years would have a large and loyal fan base.
Apparently Eric Johnson the smallville actor that SciFi has tapped to play Flash Gordon in the new series, only knew the name Flash Gordon and nothing about the character before he started preparing for the show. As reported by ShowMeSciFi in February SciFi is bringing back Flash Gordon for at least 22 episodes in a re-imagined series.
What kind of an idiotic move is this??! I mean COME ON! Who hasn’t seen the the 80’s Flash Gordon? It’s a cult freakin classic after all.
“I didn’t know much more than the name Flash Gordon, but the Internet helped me a lot, and people sent me links,” Johnson said in an interview . “There was this Biography Channel bio on Flash Gordon that talked about the mythology and the writers and the actors. Then it was interesting just finding out what other people knew.” Johnson’s own grandmother was a reader of the original newspaper comic strip, which was created in 1934 by legendary comic-strip artist Alex Raymond and is still distributed internationally by King Features Syndicate.
Though the new Flash series has found it’s Flash (who doesn’t know Flash) it has yet to cast for Dr. Hans Zarkov and Dale Arden, Flash’s love interest. It is unknown as to who is cast as Ming the Merciless but here’s hoping he’s a Flash Gordon fan and not some washed up reject.
Battlestar Galatica Zarek issue # 4 The Circle Is Complete April 29, 2007

Zarek isn’t just a freedom fighter, he’s also a hero that saved lives when the Cylon invasion happened.
What’s more he returned to the prison barge that was transferring him to a parole hearing once he saved people from the Cylons.
AMAZing.
I’m not sure if this Battlestar Galactica Zarek series is considered to be BSG canon, but it should be.
From the first issue all the way to this last one, Zarek has held
my attention with solid action, plot and character development of Zarek.
Zarek is a somewhat misunderstood BSG character, piece by piece in the SciFi show they’ve pulled out tidbits of his backstory…BUT this comic book series IS the backstory.
If you missed individual issues at your local retailer, you’re still in luck. A tradepaperback version of the collected four issue set will be out in July.
Stargate SG-1 10×15 The Road Not Taken April 28, 2007

Parallel Mirror Universe stuff is no stranger to SciFi or Stargate.
Stargate SG-1 Season Ten episode 15 The Road Not Taken is not the best parallel universe episode to ever appear on Stargate SG-1 but it certainly was entertaining.
I tend to prefer mirror universes where the good guys are evil – in this case Landry as President of the US is just a bit evil but still..
All told a solid episode..but again one that doesn’t particularly advance the overall grand plot in the battle against the ori…
Only a few more episodes left and then that’s it for US broadcast TV’s run for Stargate SG-1.
100,000 – ShowMeSciFi hits a major milestone April 27, 2007
Posted by showmescifi in scifi.2 comments
AT approximately 9.02 pm EDT on April 27, 2007 ShowMeSciFi hit a major milestone:
100,000 Page Views !!
For a site that only got started in earnest in January of this year as a hobby, this is a milestone that has exceeded any expectations.
The point of ShowMeSciFi from the beginning was to provide a place to review, discuss and highlight SciFi – to Show Me (me being the viewer) SciFi…So far apparently it’s working out.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. To all of ShowMeSciFi‘s supporters, readers and commentors – without you this small effort never ever would have hit this milestone.
Here’s looking to hitting 200,000 page views in the next 100 days!
Battlestar Galatica Zarek issue # 3 April 27, 2007

Continuing from the first two issues in this series (which ShowMeSciFi reviewed here), this third issue take us into Zarek’s life behind bars.
Zarek is of course a beloved character because of Richard Hatch and the classic BSG attachment BUT this comic book series takes it to another level.
Out in the public Zarek’s story was definitely interesting, behind bars its even better. What kind of genius is this dude? A real methodical and well organized one.
It’s too bad this is only a four issue series but then again, it is only filling in a very specific gap.Who is Tom Zarek and how did he end up on the prison barge?
