ShowMeSciFi.com is excited as any website out there for the upcoming Star Trek XI movie. That’s why we signed up for the Star Trek XI webmaster program from Paramount – the general idea was that for each click you generate, Paramount would tally them up and do something nice for you.
After just a few short weeks – Paramount HAS CANCELED THE POINTS PROGRAM.
Q: What happened to the points system?
A: Due to click fraud and to make use of the Webmaster Program easier on users we have eliminated this points system. Nothing else relating to the program has changed. Please just point all links to the official site. If you have questions please direct them to us in the forums.
Click fraud? are you kidding me?? Other webmasters are that desperate??? Paramount is so incapable that they can’t properly measure clicks? KHAAAAAAAAN!

W
HAT an aweful krifing show…and finally its first dismal season is coming to an end.
Of course we’re talking about Flash Gordon – easily the worst show on SciFi today and of one of the worst SciFi insults ever.
In the beginning we were very optimistic about this show, but it sucked early on and has continues to suck ever since never really improving at all.
Let’s hope that there won’t be a season 2 for Flash Gordon…

Let’s face it – alot of fan fiction is puke. But what happens when that ‘fan-fiction’ is actually a failed proposal for an unproduced episode of Firefly?
SHEER BRILLIANCE.
That’s what Steven Brust’s Firefly book “My Own Kind of Freedom” is – brilliant. Burst originally wrote the book as a proposal for a Firefly tie-in back in 2005.
Beyond being a great read – it’s free.
Star Trek XI : Plot Revealed? February 7, 2008

Star Trek XI bad guy Eric Bana has given away the plot of Star Trek XI – sorta/kinda/not really.
In an interview with Celebrity Truth Bana reportedly described the plot of Star XI thusly:
“You’ve got this ship right? And it’s flying through the air, like, really fast. It lands, and these dudes get out.
“Then there’s these other dudes, some of them have ears, some of them haven’t, and they get into a bit of a fight. There’s heaps of bullets flying and one of the ships has trouble taking off. Then they fix that ship and then there’s a couple of other guys flying around..” Bana pauses before asking, “Is this good? Then this other guy turns up and he’s had some problems with his missus…”
So apparently Star Trek XI is going to be a comedy then…..

StarWars.com has done a marvelous job of keeping the fans updated on the latest about Star Wars : The Force Unleashed.
It looks like LucasArts has opening up more info to Vanity Fair too with a whole bunch of screen shots that no one has seen before.
Since the shots are so slick, it’s tough to tell if they’re actual gameplay – though i expect that it is at this point as opposed to conceptual artwork though there is some of that there to be sure too.
Also to be sure is that Star Wars The Force Unleashed is getting the full FORCE of Lucas’ awesome marketing machine.

MADNESS.
Total and absolute MADNESS. Robert Picard the bald holographic doctor from Star Trek Voyager is set to become the expedition lead for Stargate Atlantis in Season 5. The move follows Amanda Tapping (Col. Samantha Sheppard)’s departure at the end of the current Season 4.
Having Woolsey in command will be a constant pain for everyone on Atlantis…
While I don’t mind him in the odd episode – in command of Atlantis itself???
MADNESSS!!!
Terminator Sarah Connor Chronicles 1×4 Golem February 4, 2008

The concept of the Golem of Prague is an ancient and well known story.
The way the writers brilliantly wove that ancient tale’s basic premise into this episode, gives me great hope that this series has a fantastic writing team behind it (#hope they settle the strike soon!!#).
Then again, episode 1×3 was officially called ‘The Turk’ which is of course another ‘old’ story that the writers were able to weave in…I wonder how many more they were able to find…
Again we’ve got what looks to be a recurring theme with various ‘others’ coming from the future – in his case yet another Terminator – to do something in the past that will help the outcome in the future.
The continuing theme with the FBI agent that is overlooked and ‘laughed at’ is a bit cliched but hey it does serve its purpose.
Then of course there is John.
John Connor the great Savior of humanity – no longer interested in running – but interested in making a difference now. Brilliant.
Summer Glau’s ‘Cameron’ Terminator is still just a cardboard cutout..and it would be really great to see her Terminator evolve into something more animated as this series continues.

Neat episode that introduces us to a trio of new characters that I expect we’ll see more off in Stargate Atlantis.
We meet Sheppard’s Ex-Wife – now working for DHS.
We meet Sheppard’s Brother – and it looks like we’ll see him again too.
Then there is the new IOA dude that will make a very welcome change over Robert Picardo’s whining character.
Ohhh and then there is the fact that we finally got a whole of insight into Col.Sheppard’s personal life.

We’ve known since at least November that Jaina would be on the cover of the final book of the Legacy of the Force series.
Now the first images of the actual book cover are available and it looks to us that she’s going to have a showdown with her brother Jacen – Darth Caedus.
That is a confrontation that is – Inevitable – maybe that should’ve been the name of the book. Then again maybe Invincible refers to Jacen/Caedus….
Invincible’s release date is set for May 13, 2008. Amazon is already taking pre-orders on this the final installment of the Legacy of the Force – it’s a hardcover so it’s more dough than the paperbacks. Amazon currently has a neat offer though, they’re starting at 34% off list price and if you pre-order now they’ll give you an extra 5% discount. Sure beat paying full price the day it comes out..but i wonder if they’ll actually ship it to arrive on May 13th..
Col. Carter Leaving Stargate Atlantis for Sanctuary February 1, 2008

We really haven’t seen that much of Carter in Stargate Atlantis Season 4. She’s not much of a hands on commander and she lacks the presence that made Dr. Weir such a compelling character.
Now it turns out that Amanda Tapping (the actress who plays Col. Carter) is set to devote more of her time to the new Sanctuary SciFi series. Apparently she may make some ‘guest’ appearances in Season 5 of Stargate Atlantis.
Will we miss Col.Carter??
I don’t think so. She’s really been a non-factor in Season 4. The braniac role that she filled in SG-1 still belongs to Dr.McKay.

In a major new canon development in the Star Wars Universe – Lucas is giving Anakin Skywalker a Padawan of his own.
Her name is Ahsoka Tano.
First of all I think it’s great that Anakin gets a Padawan. It’s something that has been missing from the young Darth Vader’s story for the last 30 years.
While it will be interesting to see the interaction of Tano and Skywalker in the new Clone Wars series.
What will also be interesting to see is how Lucas expands the character in other timelines…for example: Is she killed by Vader or Clone Troopers in the Jedi Purge?
Star Trek XI : Kobayashi Maru – Will we finally see Kirk’s solution? January 30, 2008

Though J.J Abrams has given up some details about Star Trek XI, some key elements are still ‘officially’ unknown.
HOWEVER – since we know this will include the early days of Kirk before he takes command of NCC-1701 – ShowMeSciFi.com is going to go out on a limb and state:
“In Star Trek XI we will finally see James T. Kirk take the Kobayahsi Maru test at Starfleet Academy.”
For years, we the fans have wondered exactly what Kirk did to pass that critical Starfleet examination (we know he ‘cheated’ or changed the rules as he says) – it will be MONUMENTAL to finally see the actual scene. The Kobayashi Maru is a defining test in a Starfleet officer’s career , presenting trainees with an impossible scenario and seeing how they respond.
As a refresher check out the first theatrical mention of the Kobayashi Maru in a STar Trek movie.

No question that Star Wars : The Force Unleashed could be the most awesome Star Wars game of all time.
No question that the Wii is an awesome platform.
Put the two together and what will get?
Lucas Arts recently did a media event and the specifics of how the Wii will control the Force were among the items discussed.
The Wiimote and Nunchuk act as the left and right hands for controlling force and lightsaber actions.
There are five lightsaber movements with the remote: right to left, left to right, downswing, uppercut and stab.
All of the force powers (with the exception of throwing the lightsaber) are controlled with nunchuk movements – the force push, for example, is triggered by thrusting it forward – while holding buttons switches to lightning and grab attacks.
CVG has perhaps the best roundup if you’re looking for more..

YUP. Looks like Paramount isn’t just doing a one off with Star Trek XI which could be a good thing if the movie is any good.
In an interview with IGN , Anton Yelchin (playing Checkov) said that he had been signed on for three movies.
That clearly means Paramount is serious about this new Trek and is ensuring that if it is successful that they can milk the cast for everything they can.
And hey it also opens up the opporunity for Shatner to make an appearance in Star Trek XII or XIII!

We’ve only had three episodes of Sarah Connor Chronicles – and it looks like we’re into REPEATS already!!
The official Fox Terminator site (which is useless when it comes to actually providing up to date information for fans) give no such indication that this week’s show is a repeat.
What’s the point of having a repeat so early in a season? If FOX is trying to kill this show off it’s doing a fine job with this stunt.
Sure Pres Bush has a State of the Union address at 9 ET but that doesn’t mean FOX couldn’t have had a new show at 8 PM. Make no mistake about it FOX KILLED FIREFLY with similiar mis-steps…let’s hope they don’t do the same to Sarah Connor Chronicles

Some episodes of Stargate Atlantis are funnier than others…This one sure had at least two real keepers.
Taking a page from Han Solo (in Star Wars IV), Sheppard picking up the Jenai radio and answereing the question – what’s your status? with..
“Good,” Sheppard said
“Clarify” the Jenai on the Radio asks.
“Very Good, ” Sheppard replies.
Oh and at least one member of the ShowMeSciFi.com team found the final scene with the picture behind the throne (with Rodney the hero and Sheppard cowering ) to be quite hilarious.

While Torchwood’s actors are really solid and the plots are great..once again the low budget BBC special effects make this show a joke.
The ‘fish’ alien in the beginning of the episode was such a poor mask and totally unbelievable. And what was with all the same 1977 era Star Wars holoprojections? come on…it’s 30 yrs later get with the times.
But hey if you can look beyond the low budget special effects there is a show to watch. Jack and John – neat. Gwen taking full control also great.
The actors make this show work – always have – and hopefully they will for a long time to come too.

For whatever reason we had the sudden urge to find some Star Trek Deep Space Nine (DS9) toys. Likely it’s because when I looked at the shelf I suddenly realized that DS9 is poorly represented in the collection. But hey here at ShowMeSciFi.com we don’t buy stuff without first seeing what market is like so..
How about a (semi) complete DS9 Playmates Action Figure set?
Set Includes: Dax, Dr Bashir, Odo, Chief O’Brien, Jake Sisko, Mr Worf, Nog, Morn, Gul Dukaat, Garak and Q
The auction on this closed today for only…get this $20.49 – check it out for yourself Star Trek DS9 Complete Playmate Action Figure Set
But look closing soon is another auction and it may well be cheaper and offer better value too.

COMMANDER BENJAMIN SISKO. ODO, QUARK, CHIEF MILES O’BRIEN, LIEUTENANT JADZIA DAX (RARE), MAJOR KIRA NERYS (RARE), COMMANDER GUL DUKAT , DR. JULIAN BASHIR

Now auctions come and go so it’s hard to see what will be available when ..but if you’re willing to pay a set price you can try and cobble together a decent little collection from eBay Stores too. Hard to say if it’s always more money – though it might be – but hey some of these toys are hard to find. Check out – All Deep Space Nine Playmates toys on eBay Stores for youself and good luck!

No James Doohan’s son won’t have the role of Scotty in Star Trek XI but he will have a role.
According to an interview he did with TrekMovie the younger Doohan isn’t quite sure of his role ..yet
At this point, I’m tentatively scheduled to go in later next week to film, but, like James Cawley, I still don’t know exactly what I’m going to do. I can tell you that my father would be happy with my position on the ship.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAwww isn’t that nice. Now why can’t they find a spot for Shatner!!!
