We’ve been excited about Vector since it was first announced.

Unfortunately there is very little to be excited about in Vector Part 2.

The art in this book is the worst yet in Knights of the Old Republic with a very cartoon’ish look that just doesn’t work (it might work for Tag and Bink but not KOTOR).

Sure we understand that there needs to be setup issues for plot, but this is a little ridiculous. Is Vector just about some time plague with the Rakghoul?

And sure the Mandies are cool and all, but where are the Sith?

We really hope that the action, plot and art pick up in this series. A massive crossover like Vector is a great thing for the Star Wars Universe — but when it is so poorly executed it is a pointless exercise in futility.

Star Wars Legacy Miniatures – They don’t look right March 26, 2008

When we first saw the ads in Dark Horse’s Star Wars Legacy for the new miniature figures…we were krifing stoked.

Then we went over to the vendors site to actually see what the figures look like…

ummm.. i dunno about you but that doesn’t look like Cade Skywalker. Since when does Cade have straight hair?

The Delilah Blue figure is even worse.

It (cause i refuse to call this trash a woman) looks like some kind of weird tranny..

I don’t know who approved this trash..but I really hope Lucas Licensing (and Dark Horse) put a stop to this travesty.

George Lucas : There is no Star Wars Beyond Episode IV (Return of the Jedi) March 25, 2008

The expanded Star Wars universe – all the great stuff in Star Wars Legacy of the Force books and the Star Wars Legacy series….ISN’T Star Wars to George Lucas.

In an interview over on StarWars.com Lucas admits that for him it ends with Episode IV (Return of the Jedi)

Do you think you’d have other people continue the Star Wars saga past Episode VI or turn some of the other material into films?

But there’s no story past Episode VI, there’s just no story. It’s a certain story about Anakin Skywalker and once Anakin Skywalker dies, that’s kind of the end of the story. There is no story about Luke Skywalker, I mean apart from the books. But there’s three worlds: There’s my world that I made up, there’s the licensing world that’s the books, the comics, all that kind of stuff, the games, which is their world, and then there’s the fans’ world, which is also very rich in imagination, but they don’t always mesh. All I’m in charge of is my world. I can’t be in charge of those other people’s world, because I can’t keep up with it.

Star Wars Legacy #21 – Return of the GA? March 23, 2008

I like this Admiral Stazi and its too bad this is only a two issue story arc.

SOLID STUFF..good characters, good dialogue, good action.
The fact that Stazi has no Jedi with him is surprising..not sure why the Jedi and the GA wouldn’t be more closely aligned.

Then again perhaps we’ll see that in a future arc..when Cade joins the GA..wouldn’t that be sweet?

Anyways a solid mini-story within the awesome Legacy universe, it’s now time to see what else is going on…like where is Roan Fel???

Star Wars Rebellion #12 Small Victories – Fun Reading March 22, 2008

Star Wars Rebellion is not brilliant comic book writing — but it sure is decent fun.

Sure you can predict/guess what the next page will bring but it’s still fun getting there. Rebellion #12 is a case in point. We know that the rebels will get caught ..but it’s still neat to see how and where…(and then eventually how they’ll escape).

Will Deena escape?? That we don’t know for sure do we? She’s a minor character so Dark Horse could easily kill her off..or…?

Will Rebel One come back for their pals? I dunno..but i bet they will. Overall an interesting (though predictable) issue in a series that we’re really starting to like (even though it’s pulp!)

Star Wars Legacy of the Force Revelation (REVIEW) March 16, 2008

After 3 weeks of some really great reading..we’re ready to finally offer a full review of Star Wars Legacy of the Force Revelation (which officially came out on Feb 26, 2008).

No this is not the best book in the series – BUT yes it is an AWESOME book and one that at points is an intensely riveting page turning adventure.

Revelation follows follows Fury, Sacrifice, Exile, Betrayal , Bloodlines and Tempest.

The axis on which this whole book sits is the Battle of Fondor and what a battle!

Since the first book of this series – Legacy of the Force has been all about Civil War. What do we call it now – double civil war? The GA now has two factions, then there is still the Confederacy and somewhere inbetween is the Imperial Remnant.

Did i shed a tear for Admiral Palleon? You bet I did.

But amongst all that chaos that is the middle to the end of this book the number one question in my mind was – Where was the Confederacy in all this? Why didn’t Bothawui or Correlia show up?

Also what’s up with Tahiri? Suddenly she’s now a Sith apprentice – yet we never really any discourse from her/Caedus on her becoming Sith?

Jaina’s training with the Mandalorians is awesome stuff and clearly Karen Traviss is cut out for writing about the Mando’ade – it’s what she exels at.

The fact that OH FINALLY Ben/Luke et al accept the fact the Caedus killed Mara was far too drawn out and lame but hey..Fondor makes up for it (A BIT).

Overall we give this 3.5 out of 5 stars.

We have to wait until May 13th for the last book in this series – Invincible – where the only question is — Will Jaina Kill Jacen/Caedus??

You know we’re getting close to easter when you see more Last Supper pics…but you’ve never seen one like this.

This is actually a mosaic made up of (get this)  approximately 69 thousand images taken from all six Star Wars movies.

Check it out for yourself on Avi’s website (where he’s also planning on selling them)

After 6 plus issues of nothing by Cade Skywalker it’s great to see ‘the other side’ (or at least of them) in the massive universe that is Star Wars Legacy.

The Galactic Alliance (GA) or rather what’s left of it is still on the run … remember this isn’t just about Sith and Jedi

It’s not even about GA vs Empire..its wider…remember that we’ve got GA, Roan Fel’s Empire and then the Sith Empire ..and then the Jedi in between in various sections.

I don’t think i’ve ever seen the docking ring above the Mon Calamari homeworld which was awesome to see and the plot (as always) was fantastic.

Of course the Sith would want to finish off the GA, and what better way than a trap!

Hard to believe it has been 10 years since the Star Wars fan flick Troops first hit the net.

Unbelievable in fact (but it’s true).

Troops predates YouTube and HD and alot of the fancy easy to use software we’ve all got in 2008. Yet Troops still really stands up well as one of the greatest Star Wars Fan Flicks ever made.

In celebration of the 10 year anniversary Kevin Rubio spoke with the site where it first appeared – TheForce.net in a really great interview.

Back then the standard speed for the “net” was a 28k or 56k line. Apple had just released Quicktime 2.0 And TROOPS took over 24 hours to download. And the majority of people thought “the net” was a bad Sandra Bullock movie. Yet (thankfully) people still wanted to see it. It was a first, and while not wholly original, it was a new and original way of distribution.

Thanks Kevin – and May The Force Be With You!

Star Wars Rebellion is a misplaced comic book series in the new Dark Horse Star Wars lineup.

It lacks the drama and direction of Knights of the Old Republic, the awesomeness of Legacy and the darkness of Dark Times.

It’s just basic PULP comic stuff.

The ridiculous amount of time between issues also makes this a stoopid series to even try and follow (but we do, not sure what that says about us).

Basic story in this issue, transparent 2D cardboard cutout characters and pedestrian art.

If you’re looking for pulp Star Wars ..here ya go!

Another solid issue that moves the plot along nicely. Reading this story arc issue by issue is a bit painful though and if I had a choice I likely would have prefered to just buy a trade paperback (but hey that could be months!).

We continue to learn about Bomo and what he is willing/able to do. And on the parallel side the Jedi younglings are under attack. Overall a nice balance of the two stories.

The real ‘magic’ though of course will come in the next issue when the Parallels will finally be brought together somehow – or not.

I just hope that no one else gets eaten.

The Eighth book in this awesome series – Star Wars Legacy of the Force : Revelation is OUT TODAY!!

We got our copy at about Noon and what a glorious event it was.

The local bookshop had just set up a whole display of Star Wars Legacy of the Force Revelation in the Bestsellers area in the front of the store. They also had a few dozen copies in the regular SciFi section.

I guess we’re not the only ones who read this stuff.

As always we tend to read these a bit slowly (a week or so) to savor every page. True this is Karen Travis the SUCKIEST AUTHOR IN THE STAR WARS UNIVERSE KILLER OF MARA JADE – but hey it’s the second to last book in the serious , how badly could she screw this up?

We’ve been waiting for this book for months and it’s great to finally see it on the shelf (and now in our hands!!)

Yes we here at ShowMeSciFi.com are huge Star Wars fans…but we’re not zealots.

There are problems in Star Wars and things that we can complain about..but to whom? Who will listen? Not you! YOu’ll click away right?

Well know we can ALL vent with the People Vs. George Lucas project. Apparently it’s supposed to be some kind of documentary thing with people sending in their own clips about what they thing is wrong in the Star Wars movies.

It’s a neat idea and a whole lot more participatory than something like Trekkies for example.

Our #1 complaint? That’s easy. Jar Jar Binks!

I dunno. Dark Times isn’t bad..but without Wheatley’s art this series isn’t great either.

So we’ve got some kind of double cross here and our two plot lines are coming together.

Not particularly memorable stuff..but it does move the plot along. If you’re not already into this series don’t start here, wait till Vector hits it in a few months.

BIG BIG BIG BIG NEWS FROM LUCAS!!

The new Star Wars Clone Wars animated series will first be a FEATURE FILM that will hit theaters on Friday August 15th!! (let the lineups for the midnight showings begin!!!)

We’ve been writing about the new Star Wars Clone Wars for months…always thinking that it would just be a new TV series on the Cartoon Network so this news comes as a very very NICE SURPRISE.

“I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell,” said George Lucas, executive producer of Star Wars: The Clone Wars in a statement. “I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward.”

Then in the fall the TV series itself will start with apparently some 30 episodes already in the can. It also looks like Anakin’s new apprentice Ahsoka Tano. will play a major role too.

Are we excited? YOU BET WE ARE!

Wow. What an ending.

This is the story arc that we had been waiting for ever since Legacy first hit the stand and boy did it deliver.

Cade face to face with Darth Krayt (whose identity is finally revealed) as the last Skywalker decides whether or not he will follow Vader to the Dark side.

Finally his friends come to the rescue and for the first time in more than 6 issues, Cade is back on the Mynock.

WOW.

All this time though we have been missing out on the other goings on in the new Legacy universe…so while this story arc has been one of the most impressive Star Wars storylines of all time…we’re eager for a bit of  a break..and see what everyone else is up too…

Star Wars Darth Bane The Rule of Two (Review) February 10, 2008

ruleoftwo.jpg

Darth Bane the Rule of Two is easily the best Star Wars book we’ve read all year (mind you we’re only 5 weeks into 2008 at this point).

Drew Karpyshyn continues the tale he began in Darth Bane Path of Destruction . Whereas the first book had some basis in well known Star Wars canon and Dark Horse comic books – this book really carves out some very new and unkown territory.

Karpyshyn is a gifted writer and his prose is smooth – leading to an incredibly satisfying page turning experience.  Bane is still the dark brooding Sith lord as always, but now we get insight into his apprentice Darth Zannah.

As opposed to most other Star Wars tales where the Jedi are the heroes — here the Sith are the ‘heroes’. The Jedi are seen as weak. Their lightsaber skills inferior. Their command of the Force – incomplete.

The final confrontation in the end of this book (without giving away too much) is AWESOME. But also dissapointing in some ways too. At some points in the story we get the story told from the Jedi point of view. But when it comes to the final battle – it’s very one sided — in more ways than one.

The first book Darth Bane Path of Destruction is still a superior book to this one – the plot in that book is richer, the Sith more complete and Darth Bane’s transformation is among the best Star Wars tales ever told…as such this book Rule of Two had a tough act to follow.

That said..Rule of Two is a MUST READ for all Star Wars fans. It expands the expanded universe in a critical era and most importantly…it’s a great read.

StarWars.com has done a marvelous job of keeping the fans updated on the latest about Star Wars : The Force Unleashed.

It looks like LucasArts has opening up more info to Vanity Fair too with a whole bunch of screen shots that no one has seen before.

Since the shots are so slick, it’s tough to tell if they’re actual gameplay – though i expect that it is at this point as opposed to conceptual artwork though there is some of that there to be sure too.

Also to be sure is that Star Wars The Force Unleashed is getting the full FORCE of Lucas’ awesome marketing machine.
