All right better late than never – but we’re officially IN for Doctor Who series 4. We’ve been watching this for the last few weeks (haven’t blogged on it) but this is one show that just keeps on delivering great episodes week after week.
The Library planet – great idea – the link with the little girl? Awesome. the link with the other Time Lord..-What another Time Lord?? my goodness i feel the need for a JellyBelly.
The ending of this cliffhanger episode was fantastic – you’ve got the zombie guy walking around with his ghost message – then the face of Donna on the library interface…classic.
Life on Mars – Is he in a Coma? November 7, 2008

Life on Mars is a great show – this week’s episode Sam stops a race war in NYC and comes face to face with his mentor ‘Clams’ – as a younger man.
Beyond the really great 70’s cop story here – we get our first real glimpses into what is going on with Sam and how he might be still connected to 2008.
The final scene with him at the funeral for ‘clams’ well what was that? Is he in Coma? Is he already dead and just seeing all this in in heaven?
My personal bet is for a coma – but hard to say it’s all very real to Sam – but hey isn’t that what it’s supposed to be like in a coma state?

Woohoo!
No word yet on what toys we should expect but here’s the ShowMeSciFi.com wish list.
1) NCC-1701 – duhh! that’s the most obvious one
2) Kirk, Spock and Nero figures
3) Phaser
4) USS Kelvin
5) Vulcan Ears
What do you want to see as a toy?
And here’s a little refresher for ya from the first STar Trek Movie tie it at McDonalds – 30 years ago!

Let’s be frank here – Vector was just ok till it hit Legacy.
Legacy has made Vector great and this issue is proof of that fact. Celeste Morne is still the central figure but Cade’s new love interest makes things interesting as does Cade’s own relationship with the Force.
And what about Emperor Roan Fel? This is the first we’ve seen of him in months – and he’s just as evil as Krayt isn’t he?
Will the Muir Talisman take over Cade at some point? I think so. Will Cade kill Darth Krayt? That i don’t think so – but perhaps Krayt will end the Vector and the Muir Talisman forever

Finally Cromartie narrows in on John..but hey WHAT KIND OF MASSIVE WIMP!!
Cromartie comes to the door and John sends Riley out to deal with him – while he hides behind the door. Riley easily could have been killed without a second thought while john was wimping out.
And what about the RAZOR – killing poor Moishe? And will she stay with the show for awhile (i hope so..)
Then what’s the deal with Agent Ellisons’s T-777 clone?
I dunno – but the show is getting more intricate as the week’s go on. Finally next week we’ll see another Terminator showdown…the teaser says someone will die – let’s hope it’s John Connor and that another John Connor twin/clone T-777 or otherwise takes his place.

It’s coming to a close soon..this wasn’t the massive issue like #34 with Darth Hazen but pretty darn close.
We keep finding out more about how it was all Hazen and how Lucien Dray was a total dope all along. No surprise to Zayne but the after 34 issues it’s great to see this whole thing unravelling.
The hardest part about this story arc is because its sooo good waiting a month for the next little bit is painful.
Will the Covenant finally be destroyed at the end of this arc? I don’t see how it won’t. But the big question remains where are the Mandalorians during all of this?

This is a show that has really grown on us. The basic idea is that a cop from 2008 is somehow sent back to 1973. Yaaah i know a little lame. But the acting and overall development of this show is really solid.
In this episode our hero Sam Tyler – meets his mother – but instead of telling her his name (which is the same as her 4 yr old son) he tells her that his name is…Luke Skywalker. He tells her it’s an ‘Indian Name’.
We don’t know why he’s in the past – maybe he’s supposed to fix stuff..but what is neat along the way is how Sam brings 2008 sensibilities to 1973. It doesn’t sound like it was really all that long ago but man was it really a different world.

I want to like Tek Jansen I really really do.
I worship Colbert and humbly pledge my eternal fealty to his Nation. Tek Jansen #2 was a disappointment for us, but #3 isn’t quite as bad.
For one the Robotra story line is corny but in a fun kind of way.
Jansen is the MAN as he should be – not a total idiot (just a marginal one). Good fun for Colbert fans and a good read overall.
I wasn’t sure after issue #2 if I would continue buying Tek Jansen – but at this point I’m certain that I’ll see this through to the end. Only two more issue to go after all and I’d like to see Tek destroy all the Optiklons, get his own strike team and have an army of Robotra’s hanging from his feet.
Star Trek The Experience Going to Neonopolis October 23, 2008

Star Trek The Experience which had been at the Las Vegas Hilton for 10 years is moving to downtown Las Vegas. It closed at the Hilton back in September so this would be a big deal.
According to the Las Vegas Review Journal:
Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and Neonopolis developer Rohit Joshi say the defunct Star Trek: The Experience attraction at the Hilton is moving downtown…If it works it would be the biggest resurrection since Mr. Spock reanimated on planet Genesis — both for the Experience show and the troubled Neonopolis development
Though I’m thrilled that Star Trek is coming back to Vegas – Neonopolis isn’t the right place. It’s not on the strip and it’s not accessable by the Las Vegas Monorail (like the Hilton). Location is everything – especially in Vegas.
While I still personally might try and make the trek to a Star Trek Experience – i suspect that most convention goers to Vegas won’t – it’s just too hard to get downtown which is why Neonopolis to date has been a total bust.

Star Wars The Old Republic MMOG Officially Announced!! October 21, 2008

KOTOR III !!! or the next best thing (or maybe better). For years we’ve been speculating on when the next Knights of the Old Republic game would come – and now it’s officially been announced!!
hazaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!
Star Wars The Old Republic is a Massively Multiplayer online game – hopefully better than Star Wars Galaxies – produced by none other than BioWare makers ofthe first (and best) KOTOR.
“Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is the most critically acclaimed Star Wars game in LucasArts history and a preeminent example of our company’s interactive storytelling heritage,” said Darrell Rodriguez, President of LucasArts in a statement. “For a long time, we’ve wanted to return to the franchise in a grand way, and we felt that the best setting for it was an online world that would allow millions of people to participate in the experience together. We knew that the developer capable of working with us to deliver an engrossing story with a fully-realized online world was BioWare.”
Star Wars: The Old Republic is set roughly 300 years after the events of Knights of the Old Republic, a timeframe that is completely unexplored in the lore. So no Zayne Carrick – but certainly there are some Sith and likely more than few Mandalories about. Players can choose to play as Jedi, Sith, or a variety of other classic Star Wars roles, defining their personal story and determining their path down the light or dark side of the Force.
No official word on actual release date – though we’d expect sometime in the next 90-120 days as it looks like the game is already well developed at this point.
ARe you excited!!!?? We sure are. Though Star Wars Galaxies sucks – that game was developed by Sony. Bioware is a different animal and we’re willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
Check out the BioWare site for some awesome screenshots.
Amazon FAIL on Star Wars Millenium Falcon by James Luceno : They charged more to preorder! October 20, 2008

!!WARNING!! Be careful when pre-ordering from Amazon.com. We pre-ordered the new Star Wars: Millenium Falcon book by James Luceno more than a month ago. At the time we got a pre-order price from Amazon of $17.16. Today (the day the book is officially released) Amazon has the price listed at $16.56. So yes Amazon cheated me out of $0.60.
To add further insult to injury – i had hoped that by pre-ordering i’d get the book when it came out. No such luck! The book shipping notification only came yesterday (oct 20th) meaning i’ll get the book many days after it first hits the bookshelf.
THAT SUCKS.
This is the last time we’re likely to pre-order a Star Wars book on Amazon. It’s bad enough they ripped us off by charging more for the pre-order. That’s not right.
Anyone else been frakked by Amazon on SciFi book pre-order?
***UPDATE OCT 24, 2008 *** AMAZON has refunded me the $0.60 and I even got the book – only two days after it hit the stands. Would have been better if it was the same day – esp considering i order this book several months in advance – but still much better than what the email i got from Amazon indicated when this post was first published. My faith in Amazon is (mostly) restored!

FINALLY the crew get into space again..but not a whole lot happens here..till the final page.
The Thermian’s are on the way..but it looks like the humans are on there own. Overall a decent in-between issue that sets up some plot to come.
In the next issue we’ll finally see what this judgment ship is all about and who the dominatrix is that commands it. Want to take bets that Taggert has a ‘thing’ for this female destroyer of worlds?
So far this series has been a worthy successor to the GalaxyQuest movie and hey maybe this will be the basis of a sequel movie one day? We can only hope……….

V is coming back to TV but not as a sequel as we first would have guessed – but as a remake.
tHAT Just sucks. The original V was awesome and doesn’t need a remake – there is also a perfectly good legitimate sequel that should be made. V the Second Generation is written by the original author of V and is the proper successor to V not some remake.
According to SciFi Wire:
The new V will center on Erica Evans, a Homeland Security agent with an aimless son who’s got problems. When the aliens arrive, her son gloms on to them, causing tension within the family. As in the original V, several storylines will unfold simultaneously…As in the ’80s version, the show will open with an enormous army of spaceships hovering over the world’s major cities.Original V writer-producer-director Kenneth Johnson recently attempted to revive V as V: The Second Generation but is not involved in the Peters version.
What a shame!!
Paul of Dune – REVIEW October 11, 2008

What? Another Dune prequel? Yup. But dont’ be discouraged this one is awesome.
Brian Herbert and Kevin Anderson have done many Dune prequels (House Atreides, House Harkonnen, House Corrino and pre-prequels – (The Butlerian Jihad (Legends of Dune, Book 1), The Machine Crusade (Legends of Dune, Book 2) and The Battle of Corrin (Legends of Dune, Book 3)) .
Paul of Dune is actually a prequel for Dune Messiah – a more direct sequel to the original Dune. Or is it?
Half of Paul of Dune deals with events before the Original Dune. The point is supposed to show how events in Paul Atreides past influenced his decisions as the Emperor. It’s not a bad idea going back and forth with the different time periods and it bring us back to that Golden era of Dune with Duke Leto and the Baron Vladamir Harkonnen still alive and both at each other’s throats.
The future part – with Paul as Emperor is brilliantly written and fills the gap that the original Dune series always had. To be honest, the original Dune novel was always my favorite and Paul of Dune is truly a more fitting sequel than what had previously been available.
Yes this is a great read – and a must READ for all Dune fans –

Everyone loves Battlestar Galactica right? especially NBC (Sci Fi Channel is an NBC Universal company after all. This week’s Office had a hilarious bit where Jim is trying to time all of the ‘personal’ time that Dwight takes at work – So Jim strikes up a conversation about Battlestar Galactica with a co-workers – getting all the facts wrong – to try and get Dwight to take the bait..
Must see TV!!

Not bad…we meet yet another T-888 killing machine and yet another key figure from the future.
The best parts of the Sarah Connor Chronicles in my view are the flash forward glimpses of the future. John does a little growing up in this episode and isn’t the whiny beaatch that he’s been the previous four episodes.
That said – where was Cameron? why wasn’t she out there protecting John too?
Overall the worst part of this show – and this series so far this season – is the lack of flow and momentum. The shows are often so moody and plodding that the hour the show is on seems more like 2 hours.
If this show is to survive – it really needs to pick up the pace. A lot.
Sanctuary TV Series Premiere – too weird? October 6, 2008

First off – in the spirit of full disclosure – we haven’t watched any of the Santuary webisodes first – (yes i know LAME ‘O).
But with Amanda Tapping (Stargate’s Col. Carter) at the helm we had to watch this first episode on the big TV screen. To say the least Sanctuary is a ‘weird’ show.
The basic idea to provide Sanctuary to all creatures is a nice idea – but the streeeeeeeeeeeeetch of having a Victorian era scientist who has been alive for 150 years and who created Jack the Ripper – come on..that’s just a little lame and cliched isn’t it?
Acting in this episode was great and their is no question that there is great potential for this show as there are a whole lot of monsters out there…
Still on the paranormal front we’ve now got Fringe on network TV and let’s be honest here – in a contest between Fringe and Sanctuary what show would you rather watch?
